President Danilo Medina returned at 3:10 yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 26 September, together with his wife and accompanying officials, describing all of the meetings he had attended as positive for the country.
He was met at the airport by Vice President Margarita Cedeno, the directors of the Airports Department, Aristides Fernandez Zucco, and the Special Airport Security Corps and Civil Aviation (CESAC), General Miguel Paulino Espinal, along with other members of the Airports Department and military aides.
According to Diario Libre, President Medina then went straight back to work at the Presidential Palace.
In his first official overseas visit as head of state, Medina met with the Presidents of the USA, Barack Obama and Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and with the Dominican community in New York.
He also met United Nations General Secretary Ban Ki-moon, president of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) Alicia Barcena, the president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Luis A. Moreno and Jose Miguel Insulza, general secretary of the Organization of American States (OAS).
