According to the executive director of the Center for Exports and Investment in the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD), Jean Alain Rodriguez, the principal speaker at a luncheon hosted by the British Embassy in Santo Domingo, British investment in the country is now over US$800 million.

He said that the investments are in energy, services, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, film industry and others and that the DR has a favorable balance of trade with the UK.

He went on to say that given that foreign investment is the main driver of the Dominican economy, CEI-RD continues to implement an aggressive strategy aimed at attracting more investment by promoting the advantages of the country's geographical location, economic stability, natural resources and above all institutional and legal security.

He emphasized that they were also encouraging the export of Dominican products by highlighting their quality and competitiveness in international markets. Rodriguez said that exports to the UK totaled US$117 million last year.
