Looks like Classicos has reopened. From the pics that I have seen, it looks pretty nice. A whole new staff and a stripper pole in the middle of the dance floor. I wonder what they decided to do about the entrance fee for the women? That was the deciding factor in them losing so much business to D'Latin. (The free drinks didnt hurt either LOL)

i AGREE but to be fair, there is plenty of times when I went to Passions and the bartenders and staff outnumbered the customers, which is not a problem as long as the whores outnumber the dudes.

And, I went to Miami for three days for a vacation (and some business)... Seems there is something wrong with going to North America for a vacation...LOL My vacation picks are like my stock picks...call me "wrong way Feldman"...

Walked by the old Secrets and it looked ok. I am not sure it will make it, but it seems designed well. Marenge and Classico's opens in a few days...just in time for the busy season. I think the main strip will be better when Classico's opens. It will draw many of the high paying tourists there or they will hang out in D'Latina...which is better for the expats and experienced mongers...

All of this money going into revamping these bars :veryconfused:. No doubt to coincide with the start of 'high season'. So for the next 3 months or so these bars should do boffo business, but after that a lot of these bars will prolly be mostly empty.

That being said, it will be great to see Classicos/Merengue open again. Classicos should get it's groove back (hopefully without the ridiculous 200 peso entry fee). I didn't like seeing D'Latins have the monoply on the strip.

Should be a very good high season .

In addition to all the spots we know undergoing renovations, there is a new spot on the Corner of PC, same side of the street as Rocky's opening. It's called Universal I believe. It makes me think they're trying to create some nice shit for the AI tourists because there don't seem like enough mongers or hoes to go around to keep all these places in business.

I was talking to the ex-owner the other night and got the impression that he is carrying the mortgage. Knowing him he will be hoping that they do not meet their obligations and he will take the place back, complete with all the improvements recently made. I have stopped in there at least four times since it opened and there has never been more than handful of people in there. One chica I spoke to said she was she was quitting that night, she had not made any money in the first 8 days she was there.

Some NY officers make decent cash.
I forget which county/city on Long Island, but they average 100k plus before OT.

The only Port Authority cops that make LESS than 100k are rookies or those that have no interest in making more money.
Many do better than 150k per year.
There are a some that do better than 200k per year.

So with savings, partners, and a healthy pension...seems very do-able to me.

But as was stated...seems like a bad investment.

The real question is are they charging the chicas to get into Classicos? They can get away with charging the guys, but the cheap chicas will go straight to D Latin if they have to pay a cover. If all the chias are in D Latin, then the guys will follow.

Walked pass there a couple of times last week. It's dead! Same with El Toro (formerly Latinos). A few cats sitting in Merengue but the crowds are at DLatin and Rumbas. It's a shame to go from where it was to where it is. It seems it'll be hard for them to make a comeback now. Don't know how true it is but I heard the owner gets a piece of the DLatin action. Still seems to be a stupid move to lose all the business and now get a split with someone else.

As packed as Dlatins was on Superbowl weekend, Classicos was breath of fresh air. You could actually move around and talk to chicas without being bumped into and shit. My boy and I even talked to some old friends and some of the Fam. I forgot who my boy left with, but we all had a lovely time. Didn't stay to long, got drinks ana away we went. It's more an overflow spot now for Dlatins.

The thing is, for all it's glitz and circus hype, Sosua night life is basically one street. The entire town is one street!!

So if you think about it, how could the town support more than two "BIG" clubs at one time anyway??

I went in Classicos on Thursday night for the v-day thing. Got up there about 12 after dancing some bachata at Rhumba.

No cover , but they still got my pesos. An OJ and a cervesa cost me 300 drp. It was nice to be in a place with AC and a real dance-floor. It didn't last too long because the DJ they had soon got caught up in a rut. Went down stairs to chill and when I came back up 30 minutes later it sounded like the same song that was playing when I left the first time. Game over, time to move!!!

There are places to dance in Cabarete and Puerto Plata.. Hit them first before going back to D'Latins to pick someone up or Vice-versa if you want to see them on the dance floor.

I'm amazed that people can spend evening after evening and just sit...drink...stare...repeat. I guess when you look at the people in D'Latins more than a few appear not to have the stamina for much else anymore.

I used to love Classico's too. The set up was nice. Girls dancing in the middle, pick the one you like and jump in with her. It also gives you a good feel for how she's gonna be when you get her back to the room. I've learned that it's better to go for the girl that's gonna be more fun than the stuck up hot one just fixed to the bar. That's besides the point. D'Latin is a fuckfest and I can't stand it. NO place to dance besides VIP, constant bumping and can't see shit. I like Rumba myself. If you wanna dance that bad just grab the chick and start dancing with her. I also like After One, just gotta get a nap in cause that's gonna be a long night. ;)

Imma think about it and check out the prices to the Philippines and Thailand

I hope you noticed the sarcasm in their replies and you are not serious. All the fun is still there. It just went across the street and actually brings out more chicas. The girls are still around, the beach is still there, and the drinks are still flowing. Once you get off that plane, you'll forget all about it.

Great post. Very accurate.

The thing is, for all it's glitz and circus hype, Sosua night life is basically one street. The entire town is one street!!

So if you think about it, how could the town support more than two "BIG" clubs at one time anyway??

PSR, you were around when Sosua was the spot back in the day... about 8 years ago, when Classico's was banging, on some nights, X-Club was banging, and if you went further down the block towards the beach, by P.J.'s was the original Latino's and that would be banging at times... I remember walking back and forth and going in and out of these places to see where the talent was for the night... It was all random, and was great! And for a short time, I remember leaving the clubs drunk as fuck with a chica or two on my arm, and hitting up the fake white castle spot, that shit was really good... (the white castle would be in Winners Circle now)... During the day, we would hang out at Passions, before all the glitz and glammour, would just keep drinkin, flirting, and playing with the chicas, and finally make it to the back for a massage and BJ... maybe a lil of tu lengua en mi culo Tee Hee (from WSJ to the chicas)

Those were the days

This really fucked up my trip.

My night thing was hit Merengue and check out talent going upstairs and then head up to Classicos when it was full.

Now it is a ghost town. merengue had 1-2 gringos around 1am, and a few fat girls. The waitresses are more flirty then ever. maybe because they are hurting from lack of tips compared to before
Classicos is only thursday, friday and sat and is dead as well

DLatins was so packed it was stupid. Just imagine a place as muggy as Rhumbas. But even worse because you are shoulder to shoulder. Classicos used to get like that, but the aircon helped.
No aircon in Dlatins(open air bar) Takes a while to get to bar for a drink. Takes a while to get change. and then the killer was, I had to piss. Made my way through a ton of people. and guess what?? There is a line to take a fucking piss!!?? That was it and besides all that?? You cannot see shit in there. so many people, you line of sight is reduced greatly. You see the people surrounding you.

So fuck that. I just went out later and went straight to After Ones which was packed(but aircon)
Almost all bartenders have to go to After Ones when Merengue closes to continue working now!!! except Girra, since she is prego now.

It's good to see guys feel the same way about D'Latin...It's def not my style. One of the best spots I like is Rumba's little eating area, with the white tables and chairs. If one is open it's a great spot to camp out and see all the girls walking back and forth from Rumba and D'Latin...and as long as we're on the subject of things being crowded. I went for the Super Bowl a couple of weeks ago for my first time. I had a great time but I don't see what all the hype is about. To me, the amount of guys went way up and the amount of girls maybe a little. I found it harder to get a quality girl from the street and the crowds were kind of annoying. I live in the fucking city, I don't wanna deal with that on vacation. I've never travelled there in the winter either so worrying about the snow both ways was a pain in the ass. I'm gonna stick to the spring and fall.

You are missing my favorite time to go to Sosua. SUMMER!!!

This is the peak of low season. The crowds are low, but there are still MANY chicas looking for pesos. It is very easy to get the chica you want at your price. You still get the WWs on Friday and Saturday, but their are not enough of them to drive up prices.

I can say the weather was excellent. Max was about 85 in the day and it cooled way off at night.
Local Girls and guys all had hoodies and jackets on at night.

The few tims I pulled from Dlatins, I hung out at the sides. Had whoever I was talking to get me a presidente.
Going inside is a nightmare.

I was thinking about a trip to Sosua in mid march. I would be at Classicos every night. Now i'm wondering if it will be worth it going.

You planned on going to Classicos every night?? Then you will be sitting at the base of the stairs on most nights. Since they only open three nights a week now.

and on those three nights you will be able to count total customers on your fingers

The bartender said it best. The closed for construction. The putas went across the street. Where the putas go, the gringos goes. and instead of the crowd slowly making its way back, They just go to Dlatins.
She claimed the girls dont like it, since it is hard to see gringos and too crowded. but they cannot NOT go, because there are NO gringos in merengue or classicos.
It will take Dlatins to close for a few days for the crowd to switch back.

I can say After ones is not charging girls anything. gringos pay 100. No free beer.
But presidentes are 150. It was still packed everynight until dawn

Classico had a very good set up but the owner ruined his own business buy overcharging for drinks and paid admission for girls and guys. Now the thrill is gone. Classico had a nice run but unless D'Latin closes, Classico will probably be a place for those that prefer solitude. The Deejay also is mediocre at Classico that will not help bring a crowd.

With all the complaints, cant people just make their way back over to classicos. Anyone that has been to Sosua, knows it was a staple of the of the nightlife. So if you get enough people together...just drag them back across the street and put the word out to the chicas...especially if they are complaining too.

Probably easier said than done...but only reason we went to d'latin was because classicos fell off/closed. I say, we give it a come back.

The thing that bothered me was the cover. I had no problems paying $5 or 200 pesos but to pay and walk upstairs and see 15 people and 10 of them work there left a bad taste for me. Everybody ezxcept z germans are at dlatin. I must a paid that cover 5-6 times in the nov trip to walk up and down steps.

First thing is get rid of the cover and you might have a chance.

SH, this is basically the exact same post i made when i came back from my October trip. I only went to Sosua for one night but this was my experience as well. Except for the pissing part ... i was by the front so i just walked my ass (and advised our girls) across the street and used the Merengue bathroom. Back in no time without having to push thru 100 people.

I cant imagine D'Latin in the summer. You couldn't pay me to sit there in June, July, August when its 90 degrees at night with 100% humidity with 500 people shoulder to shoulder making it feel like its 120 degrees.

At least Classico, even when it was jammed, you could still feel comfortable. Every booth, whether by the entrance or in the back, was like a lil' V.I.P. You could lounge, bullshit, had A.C., waiters got you everything, you could people watch, dance by your booth or on the floor ... whatever you wanted.

Maybe its just me but i fail to see the attraction of D'Latin other than "thats where everyone else is". :dontknow:

On top of that, the layout of the joint is basically like a casino: no straight lines to move around, it's a fucking maze of barriers. And there's no dance floor :confused::confused:. Who builds a 'club' in Sosua with no place to dance - especially since it's now the biggest game in town? So people pretty much dance wherever - which makes moving around an even more complicated procedure.

And then there's the DJ (man, is this a pet peeve of mine in Sosua...). Dude, I know it's not a 'dance club' but why the fuck are you playing Cindi Lauper and REM? Where the fuck am I and what decade is it? Shit, I'd rather fucking hear El Pollito Pio...

If i had to take a stab i'd say the answers to that are that they never thought the place would attract that many people for any of that to even matter. We can all rattle off countless places that were supposed to give Classico some comp and none ever did. Maybe some success was expected but in their wildest dreams they didn't expect for this place to practically be the only spot in Sosua with people in it every night.

Unless Dlatins closes it will be the spot. if there is an ISOC invasion of epic proportion and everyone stands tough and goes to merengue and classicos, ALL THE PUTAS will come as well and then back to normal and that misarable hot box of a bar will be like El Toro

But as long as gringos, hit the strip and see how packed Dlatins is. The putas will still be there.
If gringos decided to hang out in a back alley, the putas would as well.

STOP going to Dlatins if you ever want it to get back to normal(merengue/classicos)

But it will never happen, like those stupid emails telling everyone to NOT buy gas on a certain day. yeah!!?? that works great.LOL

This gives me an idea. I want to try to throw something in Classico this next trip and do my part to start to bring it back or at least bring some attention back to the spot. Have to see what kind of support I have from the crew.

Worse case scenerario, maybe me and some friends will just take our chiccas in there and at least we'll have the dance floor to ourselves.

Chicas could care less about dancing with gringos. They just need a huge pig pen to gather all the gringos together in one place. Alot less work for the chica.

Sosua main social scene is made up of one street. So you'll never be able to support more than one successful club at a time.

That's an interesting, but accurate way to put it. Most chicas that I've talked to seem to dislike DLatins more than they did Classico though. I'd like to see the chicas get dolled up and in heels again at night. Last trip since there was no Classico they just stayed in they're day gear. More relaxed and natural is cool, but I like my women square or hoes, in heels when they come out to party/work.

"Hey Honey! Come here. Look at this..

Those silly fellas on ISOC are trying to use common sense again! How many times are they going to do that before they realize it doesn't work here!!!"

All those guys that like to dance can now goto Classico and dance their ass off. Pop bottles in VIP with no one to block their view. They will have the run of the club. Enjoy

Well gentlemen you can always come to the ISOC friendly bar and lounge 'The Spot'

I have now taken over operations there. So to avoid the crowd of Dlatin, the desert of classicos, come in for a drink.

Yes, I am still soft... But, if there's any chance those chicas that were dancing on the bar at the Grand Opening are actually working there... I can quickly get hard... Almost look like some Aguilas cheerleaders on a road trip...

Seriously, there's nothing like having someone else fix a place up, then give it to you to make some money.

If it's got A/C, count me as a customer. It doesn't have to be cold inside, just cooler than outside.

You got me as a customer.

About 300 RPM, that being the average speed of an audio Compact Disc. :p
