In reality, none of us are going to sit down at a computer and verify a cedula. But I'm sure your "support" option would be much more likely to work if you can tell the Politur agent "She's walking around with a fake cedula and lied to me about her age." You're right, it doesn't absolve you of legal liability, but Dominican men being what they are are much more likely to cut you some slack in that case. But if you're a foreigner, and you KNOW she's underage, and you're STILL fucking/raping her for another year+, then there's no mercy available.

I have one simple rule, if I have one once of doubt, I don't touch her. That way I don't need to have a cedula check on my computer:wink:

However, here is something you can do with out a computer and the cedula in your hand, ask what is her birthday, and year born. 9 out of 10 if they are fake or borrowed will have a different answer because she hasn't memorized those details. You're out of your mind. Mr. Gallant is lucky he was extradited and will be serving his time in an American jail instead of a Dominican jail. And I'm 100% in favor of the US Govt doing what it can to stop child trafficking/sex trade. As long as you remain a US Citizen, you remain subject to its laws anywhere in the world, whether you agree to them or not. If there's an extradition treaty with the other country, then you have to realize that you may be extradited for committing those US crimes in a foreign country (one of the prerequisites for extradition is that the act be a crime in both countries, so prostitution with ADULT, consenting women in the DR is not extraditable since prostitution isn't a crime). If you disagree with this, you're free to renounce your citizenship by filling out the proper form and submitting it to your nearest consulate/embasy/State Dept. office. Then you won't have to worry about the US Govt getting involved in your bedroom so you can illegally fuck little kids.

BTW, preventing the abuse of minors is not a "US standard." It's a "human" standard that has been accepted by EVERY single member of the U.N. This is something that is universally wrong. Think about this, if we go by your view, you'd be able to beat the shit out a woman in the privacy of your own home and the govt wouldn't be able to do anything about it? Conrad Gallant, 61 previously of Winchendon and most recently of Shrewsbury, has been accused of engaging in sexual acts with a 14-year-old girl in the Dominican Republic over the past year.
The investigation, led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations, allegedly found that on several occasions between Feb. 2011 and 2012 Gallant traveled to the Dominican Republic to engage in sexual acts with a minor.
According to court documents, Gallant engaged in a sexual relationship with the girl, promised and paid her money, and took photographs of her. Also, according to the same court documents, Gallant asked the minor victim to bring him other female minors with whom he could have sex.
Gallant was arrested in the Dominican Republic March 4. He arrived in the United States late Tuesday, and had an initial court appearance on Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Miami.
If convicted, Gallant faces up to 30 years in prison, a lifetime of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
The case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations Boston with assistance from the Mass. State Police Detective Unit assigned to District Attorney Early's office and state police troopers from the Digital Evidence and Multimedia Section.
