New to the forum but have been living in Santo Domingo for a while.
Thought I'd share what I know about how easy/difficult it is to get chicas into the different hotels. I'd be intersted in knowing other views.

I have not tried the low cost hotels, only the big ones.

The Jaragua: Chica friendly but they charge a fee per night for extra guest.
The Intercontinetal (changing name to Crowne Plaza spring 2013): i found it friendly, at a fee, but one escort agency I spoke to would not send girls here because the guards are known to blackmail the girls upon leaving.
The Hilton: friendly, preferred by some agencies.
The Marriott Courtyard: friendly
Coco boutique hotel: small hotel in the old city (zona colonial). I have not tried it but this hotel features in "chica packages" you can buy from some agencies so I presume they are friendly enough.
The HolidayInn: friendly. My favourite. Extra fee around USD 25 per night unless you preregister the lady upon arrival.

Common for hotels with underground parking is that the elevator never goes from the parking level directly to the room föoors for security reasons. You have to pass through the lobby no matter what. Bad if you are desperate for discretion. However, it is better to have the chica registered properly at the front desk anyway. That way you are better protected, just in case.

Of the above I'd say that the HolidayInn is my favorite. Fresh and modern, not smelly and murky like most other hotels in SD.

Thanks for the contribution, but to me at least, paying a fee or a need to register a chica IS NOT CHICA FRIENDLY.

CHICA FRIENDLY to me is I bring a hooker, they check ID and I go to my room.

I've had issues at the Jaragua, and I would label them as NOT CHICA FRIENDLY but that was a few years ago.

This doesn't sit right.

He's been living there, but knows about all the "chica friendly hotels that aren't chica friendly".

He's been living there, but doesn't know about casa's, or streetwalkers, or the fact that almost every chica can be approached.

I could only hope that one day I have enough money to book the most expensive hotels, instead of the hotels that are "chica friendly" that I have booked for half the price with no fee for chica. Or that I had the money to spend more in 2 hours than I do for 3 days.

But, if I had that money, I'd still do it my way, and do it a whole lot more!!!

From his handle I am guessing he is Scandinavian. Scandinavians usually have loads of dough and are willing to spend it for everything to be clean, orderly, legal, and hygienic, not "smelly and murky" (to use his words). They are not slobs like you and me, TNT.

I've had issues at the Jaragua, and I would label them as NOT CHICA FRIENDLY but that was a few years ago.

My first time sleeping in Santo Domingo was at the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel and Casino (run by Marriott). At the time of checkin I gave the names of amigas who I knew would visit and they visited my room with no extra fees (I had a double occupancy room with a wingman).

Hotel Navarro is close to the Crowne Plaza, (former Intercontinental V Centenario Hotel) Navarro about a block away, Sheraton (former Melia) about three blocks from the Navarro, Renaissance Jaragua Hotel and Casino about 4 blocks from the Hotel Navarro. Navarro has a large sign outside with the posted price for express rates (under $20US). Hotel Navarro is chica friendly and some of the women from Foxys stay at the Navarro.

Some people have points with the big hotel companies so they can sometimes stay for free. Some people may work for the big hotel companies (or have family that does) and get a reduced rate. Larger hotels sometimes have pools, gyms, tennis courts and other such amenities.

This site lists 120 hotels and places to stay, for Santo Domingo; http://www.hotel-dominican-republic.net/

Booking.com lists 81 hotels for Santo Domingo; http://www.booking.com/region/do/santo-domingo.en.html

Day passes are available at some large hotels to use their pools and gyms.

AirBnB, Homeaway and other sites list short term apartment rentals.

Jaragua will be closed soon for about a year while it gets a remodel. JW Marriott above the Blue Mall on Avenida Winston Churchill will be opening soon.

El Embajador was multiple chica friendly when I stayed there (I don't recall an extra fee). Hotel Palacio was multiple chica friendly when I stayed there, with no extra fee (I always booked at least a double occupancy room). Hotel Shakey (apartments) is chica friendly. Barcelo Santo Hotel, I have entered with two amigas at the same time with no extra fee (I wouldn't consider the Barcelo Santo Domingo 100% chica friendly). I read a post where a guy entered the Nicholas Ovando Hotel in zona colonial, with non-hoochie dressed women.

A solo traveler might want to book a room for two (price difference is usually less than $20US). A person who books a room for one person and then has a chica sleep over, might have to pay an extra fee when that chica sleeps over.

Maison Gautreaux is chica friendly (half a block from the Malecon and the Crowne Plaza Hotel); http://www.maisongautreaux.net/

Jaguar is chica friendly (two blocks behind the Jaragua Hotel and Casino); http://www.jaguarapartahotel.com/

Hotel Riazor is chica friendly, (located directly behind the Jaragua Hotel and Casino); http://www.booking.com/hotel/do/riazor.en.html

Mystik Hotel is chica friendly, (on Avenida Pasteur, half a block from the Malecon and the Crowne Plaza Hotel); http://www.hotel-dominican-republic.net/hotel-34-mystik-13-santo-domingo.html

Other chica friendly hotels on Calle Danae and near Calle Danae.

Hotel BQ I read was chica friendly, (rooftop pool and disco, located near the El Embajador Hotel); http://www.bqhoteles.com/en/bq-santo-domingo-hotel.html

I agree, I wouldn't consider the Jaragua Hotel and Casino as being 100% chica friendly for free. If you don't give names at checkin, amigas more than likely will not be able to visit for free. I haven't stayed at the Jaragua in years, I don't know what their current guest policy is.

Coco boutique hotel: small hotel in the old city (zona colonial). I have not tried it but this hotel features in "chica packages" you can buy from some agencies so I presume they are friendly enough.

Coco Boutique Hotel seems to have changed their name to Hotel Portes 9 (maybe new owners), http://www.booking.com/hotel/do/portes9.en.html. Rooftop open air type bed with curtains when I visited. Nice location in front of a quiet park.

Also facing that park is Casa del Sol Hotel, http://hotel-casadelsol.com

Casa Naemie Hotel gets good reviews, also located in zona colonial, http://www.casanaemie.com/

http://www.hotel-atarazana.com/ Hotel Atarazana also gets good reviews, located in Zona Colonial.

Casa Naemie and Hotel Atarazana I wouldn't recommend for hardcore mongering. Casa de Sol is somewhat new, I haven't visited yet, but would consider staying there (webpage says they offer secure parking). Hotel Portes 9, I have not visited recently, not sure if they have new owners, probably not recommended for hardcore mongering.

If he is Scandinavian maybe he might like the Hotel Jensen in Santo Domingo. Jensen family built the hotel, some of the ancestors were from Scandinavia, https://www.facebook.com/HostalLosJensen

If he is from Denmark, I hope he doesn't hold a grudge from when a Danish guy named Cristmas, nearly had the Danish government declare war on the Dominican Republic, in 1859; http://query.nytimes.com/mem/archive-free/pdf?res=9D05E4D61E31EE34BC4F53DFB2668382649FDE

Of the above I'd say that the HolidayInn is my favorite. Fresh and modern, not smelly and murky like most other hotels in SD.

Intercontinental V Centenario Hotel (now the Crowne Plaza) had below ground floor parking. The elevator banks are not visible to the front desk. I recall taking that elevator up from the parking area, I don't recall if it stopped on the ground floor. Jaragua Hotel and Casino has ground level parking, I don't recall seeing below ground parking there. Same for the Melia (soon to be Sheraton). Hilton is in the Malecon Center which has a multi-level parking garage. When I stayed at the Hilton, I parked on about the fourth floor of that multi-level garage and entered the Hilton on about the 4th floor of the Hilton, there was a security guy there, who said nothing to me and my amiga.

El Embajador has ground level parking. Holiday Inn, I have not visited. Courtyard by Marriott has ground level parking. Barcelo Santo Domingo has ground level parking.

The Hotel El Gran Almirante Hotel in Santiago has some parking in a level below the lobby. I have taken the elevator from that lower level to my room floor.

I would have to believe that many if not all the big hotels have cameras. If security wants to stop someone in the hotel, they will do it.

Hilton Santo Domingo has a multi level atrium that stretches up from the lobby and the elevators had clear panels, so maybe someone from the front desk could see who was riding the elevator. El Gran Almirante Hotel in Santiago also has clear panels on the elevators (front of those elevators are not visible from the front desk of the hotel).

Plaza Capri Apartment rentals http://www.plazacapri.com/ are about two blocks from the Hilton Santo Domingo, they have more photos on AirBnB. Lincoln Suites on Avenida Lincoln just north of Avenida Independencia (across the street from the Hotel Hispaniola and near the Hotel Santo Domingo) has a rooftop pool and gym, seems as though it is chica friendly (some rentals listed on AirBnB), http://www.lincolnsuite.com/

The HolidayInn: friendly.

Looks nice, rooftop pool with bar and a bar on the second floor. Some nice restaurants near there, Mitre Restaurant (might have a cigar lounge/wine bar), Adrian Tropical Restaurant, Lincoln Road Restaurant and probably others.

Both I have been told permit visitors. Hodelpa Caribe Colonial Hotel now has some themed rooms (Marilyn Monroe, Red Wine and others). Some rooms with balconies, secure parking. Hodelpa Caribe Colonial is about a half block from El Conde and the new Pizzarelli Cafe and around the corner from the Hard Rock Cafe.

Napolitano Hotel is on the Malecon, near zona colonial, has a pool and a casino and Mint Disco. Some rooms with balconies with views of the Sea.

I have visited, but not stayed there. Some big rooms, recently remodeled, has a pool and free admission to Body Shop Athletic Gym, about two blocks from the Hotel (Body Shop Gym has a larger pool, at the 58 second mark of the video part of that gym is shown http://www.clubbodyshop.com/app/bsnaco.aspx ). Probably not 100% chica friendly for free.

Let's add the Hostal San Francisco de Asis, chica friendly and on Pasteur just one block up from the casas. http://hostalsanfranciscodeasis.com/

Hotel La Morada one chica only http://www.hotellamorada.com/Amenities.html

Hotel Jecasergian chica friendly 809-476-7960

Apartahotel ROMA chica friendly http://apartahotelromard.com/portal/

As an additional point of interest, I was in SDQ two weeks ago and all the casas except Sky Bar were closed. I spoke with one of the owners and was told that they expect to open before the end of the month. Venezia where all the trouble began reportedly will not be re-opening. Sky Bar/Sky High had a live band and was charging a fortune for drinks (a beer and a glass of wine were 900P)and the chicas were nothing to speak about. The casas in the north of the city were still open and thriving.

Hilton Santo Domingo Hotel or Barcelo Santo Domingo Hotel ??

Jao

Hilton Santo Domingo Hotel or Barcelo Santo Domingo Hotel ??

Hilton is more expensive. Weekend rates at the Hilton are less expensive than their weekday prices. Barcelo Santo Domingo has rates that start around $60US per night. When I stayed at the Hilton, the rate I had, no free breakfast or drinks. For the same price or less than what I paid at the Hilton, the Barcelo Santo Domingo Hotel Club Premium room, had free early checkin and late checkout, free bottled beverages in the ninth floor club premium lounge (presidente beer, coca cola, 7up, water etc), free coffee (eight flavors), free juice, breakfast food in the morning and snacks in the afternoon. Pool I like better at the Barcelo than the Hilton pool. Hilton has very nice rooms, nice wood doors and frames and moldings, nice furniture. Barcelo rooms were recently remodeled. I have entered for free numerous with amigas at the Barcelo. The Hilton I checked in with an amiga. If you book a room for two, should be no problem entering with at least the first woman at both hotels.

Value for money I would say Barcelo gives you more, for generally a lower price than the Hilton.

Location, Hilton is on the malecon (on the water), Barcelo is on Ave. Maximo Gomez at 27 de Febrero (not directly on the water). Both hotels would be a taxi ride to the zona colonial (or over a 30 minute walk). Hilton is in the malecon center which has apartment towers. Nice complex with a cinema and some restaurants.

Hilton is close to DollHouse and casa de modelos. Barcelo is close to GBP and fancy dancers. Metro close to Barcelo and the museums in Plaza de Cultura are a 5 minute walk from the Barcelo. Hilton is close to UASD, the largest university in Santo Domingo. Barcelo is close to UTESA and APEC Universities.

Barcelo doesn't seem to have an extra fee for visitors, when you book a double occupancy room. I have had three people visit my room on the 9th floor at the Barcelo at the same time, no extra fee (another monger and his two amigas, he was staying at the Mercure).

About 4 blocks up from the Malecon just west of Maximo Gomez, inground pool, http://www.booking.com/hotel/do/san-marco.en.html said visitors no problem (extra fee if a person books a single occupancy room rate).

No problem with visitors, http://www.hodelpa.com/en/hotels/santo-domingo/hodelpa-caribe-colonial/general-information.html . Good location near the cathedral and Colon Park (Columbus Park). Free use of a bicycle if you book a design room through the Hodelpa website (Hodelpa operates three hotels in Santiago, which are very nice).

Jao

Visitors OK till 11pm, https://www.condepenalba.com . Popular cafe, some rooms with balconies that overlook the cafe, park colon, el conde and the cathedral.

De Nada, amigo. I may stay at the Barcelo this weekend (I haven't stayed there in over six months, new boss there since I was last there), I plan on inviting over amigas, never paid an extra fee when amigas and fellow mongers visited me there in the past. I checked prices yesterday, seems a room for three is the same price as the room for two (or maybe $5US more). I have an early arriving flight so free early check in with the club premium rooms is nice.

Probably best to call a taxi (Apolo Taxi is recommended, http://www.apolotaxi.com/ApoloTaxi/Bienvenidos.html, (809) 537-0000). Taxi guys who wait outside the hotels are usually more expensive. Most taxi fares should be under 200 pesos, unless its a long ride. About 42 pesos to $1US Dollar. You can change money on the second floor of the airport after you go through customs and immigration, BanReservas money exchange booth on the second floor near the elevator and escalators, also western union on the second floor of the SDQ Airport, with a slightly better exchange rate. Some places print the bill in pesos, dollars and euros and you can pay using pesos, dollars or euros (change will probably be in pesos).

Generally not a good idea to change money in the street in Santo Domingo, if guys approach you with a too good to be true exchange rate, they are scammers. There are offices where you can exchange money in santo domingo. Some ATM machines might only work if you choose Spanish as the language. Banco Leon ATMs seem to only be able to give 2,000 pesos at a time, ATM fees between the Dominican Bank and American Bank, probably over $6US per transaction. If you use a credit card, check your statement (account) on a regular basis (in the past cloning credit cards was a problem, I haven't experienced that in the last two years).

Mosquitoes I never really see in santo domingo, but you might want to bring some mosquito repellant and maybe benadryl spray or lotion in case you get a bite. Bring your own condoms. I freeze a package of hershey miniatures chocolates, that I eat in the room or hand out. Having dollar bills can be useful to give as a tip in a hotel or to chicas who may dance for you in a casa or other venue.

When you get off the airplane from the States you have to buy a ten dollar tourist card, you can also purchase it online and print it out. Taxi from the airport into santo domingo should be around $40 or less. Always confirm the price of a taxi before getting in.

If it is your first trip into santo domingo, you might want to consider a chica friendly hotel in zona colonial or near zona colonial. I haven't stayed at the Hotel Palacio in years, but when I stayed there it was multiple chica friendly. Nice Hotel located in zona colonial, close to the pedestrian street El Conde, which has shops, restaurants, cafes, some freelancers. Hotel Napolitano on the Malecon is also chica friendly, gets decent reviews, it is close to zona colonial.

A SIM Card with a Dom Rep phone number costs around $5US at Claro, you can add minutes online at ezetop, aryty or others, or purchase cards that have scratch off codes on the back of the card, dial a number, enter the code and the amount on the card is added to your sim card for calls or texting. Having an unlocked cell phone that uses GSM and takes sim cards can be used with sim cards purchased in the dom rep. Whatsapp is a popular messaging program. There are Claro and Orange shops at the SDQ airport (they will ask to see your passport when you purchase a SIM card). Orange and Claro shops throughout santo domingo.

In the casas you are not obligated to buy a chica a drink, if you want you can buy her a presidente beer, price should be under 200 pesos. I have gone into casas or p4p venues and bought a small bottle of water for around 100 pesos for me to drink.

Chicas have to have cedulas (Dominican Identification Card). Usually best not to get the police involved if there are any hiccups.

You'll have fun. Lots of good information on this site in the free section and lots more in the paid subscription section, lots of guys on this site know their way around in santo domingo and elsewhere in the Dominican Republic.

Jao

Might charge a fee if someone visits the room and might charge something if a guest of a guest visits the 9th floor lounge and eats or drinks there. I'll try to confirm what the policies are, on my next trip to santo domingo.

This trip we wanna stay in santo domingo.. if u had a choice which hotel/area would you stay at Barceló, Palacio or Renaissance Jaragua ???? Again thx alot, big ups to Jao

Muchas Gracias Amigo.

Hodelpa Caribe Colonial is multiple chica friendly, no extra fees with a double occupancy room. Free parking, free wifi, good breakfast buffet. 2 minute walk to the new Pizzarelli cafe on el conde, 5 minutes to hard rock cafe. Money exchange place next door, cigar shops across the street. Secure and safe. I paid under $100 per night and two amigas visited at the same time (they leave their cedulas at the front desk). Across the street is a liquor store bar and some chicas sit outside there and are available. Very friendly workers at this hotel.

People from Haiti, China, Europe, the States and Australia were staying there when I was there.

There are coupon codes for orbitz and travelocity (15% off and 12% off). Hodelpa Caribe Colonial Hotel has bicycle rentals (free if you book certain rooms through their website).

You will have fun and thanks again for the Big Ups.:corky:

He is always on Avenida Pasteur during the daytime, not at night. Always has a baseball cap. I have known him for years. He has a motorcycle, but you can, grab a taxi with him, to have him show you venues.

There was a guy who spoke English with a car, who used to take guys around, I forget his name and don't have his number.

Many taxi guys will know the venues (some might not know them all), sometimes a venue will pay a taxi driver or guide for bringing in clients.

Foxys, Baby Dolls, Satin Dolls, Girls House, Sky High, 305, you can walk to from any hotel in gazcue or zona colonial. Dollhouse and casa de modelos is near the Hilton, a 5 minute taxi from Gazcue. GBP, Casa Theresa, the bars on Avenida Venezuela will be a taxi ride away (for not far away locations, 150 pesos should be the taxi fare). Apolo is a good taxi company, there are others.

Also the bars on Juan Morfa (just north of 27 de Febrero have gotten good reviews). Casinos on the Malecon, Jaragua and the Sheraton (365) usually have freelancers at night.

I'll see pequeno gigante next week and ask him for a cell number or a recommended driver with a car or van. There used to be a taxi driver with a nice mitsubishi montero SUV in front of what is now called the crowne plaza hotel.

Links I posted before (photo sites of various bars in the DR), see what you like and maybe visit that bar. Avenida Venezuela can be fun and the bars on Juan Morfa (La Hebilla, Kaprich Dance Club, Flow Gallery) have gotten some good reviews.

Last trip I visited Ejecutivo for the first time, nice place that faces Las Americas Highway (highway from the airport and boca chica and other points east, into the city of Santo Domingo). I was with pequeno gigante and a friend. Inside Ejecutivo was a tall muscular Dominican guy who had brought some American guys there. He might be a taxi driver and might be found in zona colonial. I'll try to get his contact info and send it to you (I don't know what vehicle he uses, not a motorcycle).

There are also newish nice passenger vans that have a tourist taxi sign on their doors, those taxis are usually slightly more expensive. Always ask the price of a taxi before getting in (if your Spanish is not perfect, you can always confirm the price by showing the numbers on a cell phone).

My last trip, I helped a woman with her luggage to a taxi, that came to the hotel where I was staying in Santo Domingo, Gazcue. That taxi driver gave me his card and told me 1,000 pesos for the airport (about $24US) and he told me inside the city 150 pesos (about $3.60US), probably further away locations a bit more money. I'll scan his card and the taxi company flyer, he gave me and post it.

There was a guy who spoke English with a car, who used to take guys around, I forget his name and don't have his number.

You should be able to contact Fellini through Hotel Mystik on Av Pasteur -- sounds like something up his alley. He is English speaking, from DR, spent time in the states and is decently connected.

Hotel Mystik is on Avenida Pasteur between the Malecon and Independencia. Fellini is the name of the guy I couldn't remember. Thanks.

Going just a few blocks should normally be 100DOP with a friendly driver.
Most drives in Santo Domingo proper should be 150DOP.

Anything more and you're paying gringo prices (or getting gouged by the taxi mafia at the airport). Up to you as for whether or not you're able to successfully negotiate.

Be sure to get phone numbers for the cabs you like that accept fair pricing without argument -- they tend to stay in the same hunting grounds, so it's often easy for them to swing by. There are one or two decent services, if you speak some Spanish.

LOL.

Using the Metro (2 new lines) is another option. One trip I rented an apartment in La Esperilla neighborhood of Santo Domingo (west of Maximo Gomez and south of 27 de Febrero). Met a woman online and invited her to visit there. (I have driven to women's home in Los Alcarizos, Herrera, past Villa Mella, Sebana Perdida, Santo Domingo Este, all hours of the day and night), nowadays its usually much easier for me to have them take a taxi to me. When I was staying in La Esperilla, I asked the woman where she was living, she said Villa Mella, I suggested she take the Metro, she said no problem (20 pesos each way on the Metro, with stops on Maximo Gomez, near where I was staying).

Herrera, points in Santo Domingo Este, Los Alcarizos are some neighborhoods that will be more than a 150 peso taxi fare (probably closer to double) when traveling to Pasteur and the Malecon.
