Dominicans return en masse because of the crisis (http://www.sosuanews.com/index.php?id=3285&article=1)

Because of the crisis in Europe and the U.S., more and more Dominicans return to their homeland. Every day, entire families arrive at the International Airport Las Americas in Santo Domingo. Especially Spain has much to suffer from the crisis and is now plagued by high unemployment, especially among the youth.

Unemployment among the Dominicans there is even higher. Firstly because many are there illegally, and because the level of education among Dominicans is very low. They often work in small businesses such as beauty salons, barber shops, cafes, small restaurants or a car wash. Many of them bought an apartment on credit. Now that they are unemployed, they can not pay the mortgage and they are thrown out of their homes. President Danilo has reached out the helping hand in the form of a plane ticket, to return. Also in Sosúa (Charamicos and Sosúa Abajo) in recent months dozens of Dominicans have returned from Spain and the USA. Previously they sent money every month to their families in Sosúa, now they have to held their hands up with their families.

Hopefully it means more whores returning ?

Chicas turning 18 everday and continuing the game they started often underage and as legal adults, outnumbers hoes leaving the game. Then factor in the low pay and limited regular jobs.

Also facter in the 30-35 year olds that may look good enough to only you, so you will get a great price and she will end up with more than a normal salary from a regular job.

Most of them probably got a small house or something out of the time overseas. Many got alot. I think most want to go back home eventually. Its got to suck going back with nothing. Most of the deportees I've met are sad individuals, but not all.

It's inspiring to see those that return able to buy a home however humble it may be. They've pursued a dream to the end and managed to better themselves and their litter.

I'm sure allot gave it their best shot but due to no fault of their own the circumstances just dictated otherwise.

Many simply never learned how to open a bank account and save for tomorrow.

Article was a good read. My parents just finished moving back to the island, after living here for the last 30 years. They both were able to be lucky, and fortunate enough to make some sound chocies, and be able to return and live comfortably in retirement even w/o pensions or social security checks coming in.
