Has anyone ever stay in this condo building on the malecon? It is near the Intercontinental. I am looking to find out if there are any vacation rentals in this building. Any information related would be great. Thanks in advance.

I know some people who stayed there. Can't remember what they paid, but the pics were wonderful. The pool has a glass bottom. You can see people swimming from the street.

I'll check and get back to you .

I have a friend who's stayed there a few times. Basically paying for a few nights to an absentee owner's caretaker (who was probably pocketing the cash) The security guys in the lobby were not the most friendly or helpful folks either.

It looks so nice from the outside, but nothing special on the inside.

Torre Veiramar 1, very nice building. Secure underground parking, pool, jacuzzi, small gym, steam-room. I have stayed in this building various times, always had fun. Guys in the lobby have been nice, they will call taxis for you or your guests. Secure parking for visitors near the lobby. If staying there and meeting amigas for the first time, you can tell the amigas to take a taxi to the V Centanario Hotel (pronounced like Keen-tay Centanario). Intercontinental V Centanario Hotel is now called the Crowne Plaza Hotel (it will take a little while before the new name is well known). Lobby bar inside the Crowne Plaza, ATM machine also. Casino in that hotel where you can get change of 1000 peso notes to pay a taxi driver.

Hotel Shakey across the street from Torre Veiramar 1, is a nice, new place. Hotel Shakey has one and two bedroom apartments with kitchens (stove, refrigerator, pots, pans, knives and forks, all new). Large balconies, most with a view of the sea. Secure parking. Italian owned, friendly guys. There is a youtube video showing a hotel shakey apartment. Two bathrooms in the one bedroom apartment I saw at the Hotel Shakey.

Up the block on Avenue Pasteur is a colmado (small grocery store, that does deliveries). Also on Pasteur at Independencia is Villar Hermanos Restaurant/Bakery/Sandwich shop/coffee shop. Very clean food establishment, good prices, good service. Across the street from this restaurant is a bon ice cream shop, hardware store, colmado and pharmacy. Other places to eat nearby. La Cadena Supermarket about 3-4 blocks from the Torre Veiramar 1 building.

4 casas on Pasteur with another (305) around the corner on Independencia. Safe area, guys who stand around are friendly.

Pure disco (formerly coppa) one block over from Torre Veiramar 1. Pure is inside the former Melia Hotel, soon to be renamed the Sheraton Hotel. One block over from there is the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel and Casino.

Safe walking around on the Malecon and on Pasteur and Independencia.

Dominicanas I invited, liked the Torre Veiramar 1 building, the pool there and the apartment (which had three balconies), nice breeze off the sea and good views. Zona Colonial is about a 12 minute walk from the Torre Veiramar 1.

A few more pics of the Torre Veiramar 1 building. The building sits on the Malecon (also known as Avenida George Washington). The entrance is about 100 feet up Avenida Pasteur. Fruit vendor near the entrance (Haitian). Across the street is the new Hotel Shakey (apartments with kitchens, balconies, most with a view of the sea), http://www.hotelshakey.com/ can be booked on booking.com, http://www.booking.com/hotel/do/shakey.en.html. Youtube video of the Hotel Shakey which also shows the Torre Veiramar 1 building,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GBX8ycRZyk. In the photo you posted the Intercontinental Hotel is across the street from the torre veiramar 1 buidling. Intercontinental has changed the name to Crowne Plaza and changed the exterior color of the hotel. Also a makeover of their pool deck, work was ongoing when I was there in May 2013. Former Melia Hotel down the street on the Malecon is supposedly getting a multi-million dollar makeover before the name is changed to Sheraton.

Point and Click. Probably 100 or more available women within a block or so of this location (Venezia, Sky High, Satin Dolls, Girls House, 305). Pure Disco (former coppa disco) is one block away. I have driven to the Santo Domingo Airport (SDQ, Las Americas) on a Sunday morning in a little over fifteen minutes.

Intercontinental V Centenario Hotel is now called the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Crowne Plaza is remodeling its pool deck and changed the exterior color.

But how chica friendly is the Crowne Plaza? I know the other nice hotels around there are not chica friendly from past experience.

Near the Embajador Hotel is the the Hotel BQ, supposedly guest friendly. Nice quiet neighborhood. Has a disco at night near the rooftop pool.

Photos from the internet of Bianco on the roof of the Hotel BQ.

BQ can be booked on Orbitz using a 15% promo code (when orbitz offers those codes). Rates starting under $100US per night, breakfast and wifi included.

TNT40 stayed there before and it was guest freindly at that time. Went there a couple of weeks ago to show some guys the roof top pool and club, but the staff was setting up for a wedding. I put up some pics in a TR last year.

We went there beacuse the pool party at the Napolitano (located on the Malecon ) was bad. Sad because it has a nice setup for a party. Jao have you stayed in this hotel before?

Good service at La Cadena Supermarket. I bought some small bottles of rum to give as gifts when I returned to the States and a worker in La Cadena Supermarket wrapped each bottle in newspaper. On a future trip I may bring with me a few zip lock bags for sugar, coffee etc. (probably would not make sense to buy a whole box of zip lock bags in DR).
In front of la cadena are flower and fruit vendors. Probably a small hot food stall there as well. Happy ending massage place adjacent to la cadena. A worker at la cadena will carry your bags to your car, if you drive there.

The name of the massage place is R & R Spa.

In La Cadena I could only find a large bag of sugar. I make coffee in the apartment, some people might consider bringing with them small individual packets of sugar (get them free at starbucks or other cafes, restaurants). Or use a zip lock bag for a large bag of sugar. Villar Hnos. at pasteur and independencia sell their own brand coffee (whole bean and ground), with a counter that faces Independencia and also inside. Brugal bottles might be thin glass.

You can get a small bag of sugar (a plastic twist bag) delivered to your apartment from a Colmado.

The one I use is El Parador.
Pasteur No. 108, Esq Lea de Castro, Gazcue

They also have the lunch counter setup, similar to the one you mentioned across the street from La Cadena. $150 pesos.

You may want to investigate further. In some supermarkets, the little envelopes of sugar are not in the same place as the large bags. Jumbo Luperon is like that.

Go figure.

Now you have me worried about Brugal bottles.
