Heading to Santo Domingo in November

It'll be my first time, been to Cuba and Puerto Rico before but with family. This time I am going for fun, 30 years old but do not speak Spanish. I am studying though, so hopefully I will have the basics down. I've dated latinas my entire life so I am pretty pumped lol. Anyways I was curious if anyone is going to be down there around Nov 9-16? I've been researching the hell out of this board but it would be even cooler to meet up with some guys who've made this trip and know the ropes. Anyways let me know

Before I found this place , my agenda was to stay here

Hotel Mercure Comercial or the Marriot Casino because my friend who may come will more than likely not go to clubs with me, he will just play poker. Planned on staying in SD from Sat-Wed then head over to Boca Chica and see what all the hype is about. While in SD I wanted to check out some nice places to eat and hit up some lounges if they have any places like that. I do like Bachata and can dance so would be wanting to see the club scene as well.
I've been going through the threads about friendly hotels and it looks like the Marriot is a good choice, but a cheaper choice would be better. I'm pretty go with the flow so I'm open for ideas.

you'll really enjoy Boca Chica......what's not to like......you got Chicas....lots of bars and hangouts....on and off the beach......great food and drinks.....jump in da water.....listen to some Reggaeton......and more Chicas...tuff eh

Marriott currently operates two hotels in Santo Domingo, the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel and Casino and the Courtyard by Marriott. The Courtyard by Marriott is on Avenida Maximo Gomez close to the U.S. Consulate, but no casino in the building. Renaissance Jaragua Hotel and Casino is on the Malecon (seaside avenue) and has a casino in the building. Next door to the Jaragua (not to be confused with the much smaller Jaguar Hotel) is Hotel Magna 365 (former Melia Hotel) and about three blocks from the Jaragua is the Crowne Plaza. Hotel Magna 365 will be called the Sheraton starting probably in December 2013, it is getting a multimillion dollar improvement. Crowne Plaza also getting a multimillion dollar improvement. The Jaragua I have been told will get its facelift and improvements in the next few years. A JW Marriott is being constructed over the Blue Mall and should be opening soon (or maybe it has already opened).

Jaragua, Magna 365 (Sheraton) and Crowne Plaza have casinos. If your wingman wants to be close to a casino one of those three hotels could suffice. Jaragua is generally not chica friendly (some women get in without being stopped by security). If you give the names of amigas who will visit you, at the time of check in at the Jaragua, those women will be allowed to visit your room. Some rooms at the Jaragua do not include free internet and no free breakfast. Tower section rooms in the main building in my experience are nicer than the garden view section rooms. Orbitz coupon codes usually do not work for the Marriott operated hotels in Santo Domingo.

Hotel Mercure is in zona colonial, no casino in zona colonial. Hotel Mercure is chica friendly but you might be charged an extra fee for each amiga who visits your room. Nicholas Ovando is a sister hotel to the Mercure. Nicholas Ovando has a pool and is in a building, parts of which are over 500 years old. Another option in zona colonial is the hotel palacio which is chica friendly (small pool, no casino). Hotel Conde de Penalbe has a busy cafe outside and might be chica friendly (some rooms with a balcony that overlook El Conde and the cafe).

Sometimes better to have a second lower cost room to use for sex (main room has the valuables). About 4 blocks east of the rear entrance of the Jaragua is the small Hotel Navarro. Hotel Navarro has overnight rates and express rates. Cuban owned and some of the women from Foxys (sometimes Brazilians) stay at the Hotel Navarro. There is a new sign outside the Hotel Navarro (one block east of Pasteur on Independencia) which gives the express rate (probably 4 hours) around 700 pesos ($16US). Overnight rates more. 4 casas on Pasteur and 305 on the same block as the Hotel Navarro. Always ask to see the chica's Cedula (Dominican Identification card). Unless the woman obviously looks old, no Cedula, say goodbye.

Out the back entrance of the Jaragua is Manolos Restaurant, open 24/7 (I have had cheeseburgers and fries, at 3AM or later at Manolos, numerous times, while walking around in the area late).

Events at the Jaragua that oftentimes get a high end crowd with some fine women. For the bigger hotels, weekend rates usually much cheaper.

Wow!!!! Thanks for the intel, much appreciated. I will look into these options, my buddy can stay at a casino hotel for all I care and I will stay where the action since that's what I want.

The new hotel shakey is nice on Avenida Pasteur, next door to the Crowne Plaza. Hotel Shakey is more like an apartment building with apartment rentals. It opened last November, so everything is new. Full kitchens, stove, refrigerator, multiple bathrooms. I am fairly certain, two bedroom apartments available (each with their own full bathroom and a guest bathroom near the living room). Probably studio and one bedroom units as well. Good size balconies for some of the apartments with a view of the sea. 4 casas up the block and freelancers. Your wingman can walk outside the Hotel Shakey and be in the Crowne Plaza Casino in two minutes (Crowne Plaza until recently was called the Intercontinental V Centanario with a different exterior color). Best of both worlds, casas and freelancers for you and casino for your wingman.

Hotel Shakey is Italian owned and operated, I visited one time, but have not stayed there, spoke with one of the Italian guys who runs the place and he was nice. Reviews on Booking.com, http://www.booking.com/hotel/do/shakey.en.html
