Pull up a chair, have a cold Presidente and lets talk about Kite Beach Inn on Cabarette Beach
from a mongers perspective.

http://news.insearchofchicas.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=93873&d=1390872010

Located about a 15 minute drive from Sosua, Kite Beach Inn, is the third complex as you enter the town.

http://news.insearchofchicas.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=93874&d=1390872014

The Complex (I call it that, because it doesn't seem like a traditional hotel, but more like home away from home) is located steps away from the beach.

Here is the Beach

I passed through there. I'm interested to hear what you have to say about it.

Kite Beach Inn is owned and operated by isoc member Ohmm and his wife Lucy, Lucy is such a nice woman, there was not one time that I saw her that she didn't have a genuine smile on her face. There are two other employees that work in the office and they too always had smiles on their faces. The guest service provided by the entire staff is very welcoming.

On this particular vacation, I wanted a change of pace, and it I was also supposed to wife up with a non-pro chica, I'd been talking with. This place was perfect for that. Although the man-whore in me didn't make wifing up possible, if I wanted too, I would do it here.

Firstly, I was the only monger staying at the hotel that I could tell, the rest of the residents were on the younger side, I would say mid twenties to mid thirties, some American, some European. It seemed like a lot of them actually lived there, which was cool and weird at the same time.

Here's one of the residents, she was fuckin HOT!

http://news.insearchofchicas.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=93863&d=1390871977

I couldn't help but take a picture. But I did put the camera away when her hot, young, blonde friend came and laid next to her as they tanned their asses. I was being respectful and gave them their privacy, but it was like a damn porno.

Anyway, I later made my way over there, ordered a Pina Colada and chilled out with her. She was nice.

The thing that struck me, and made me feel so comfortable there, was there were never any judging eyes, even when my bitches came to visit, I never saw one person looking down there noses at me, it was cool. Everybody there was just on some cool out vibe.

I'm guessing it was because they were mostly Kite Surfers, not what is Kite Surfing? you ask, this is is Kite Surfing!

It looks FUN! I think Ohmm has a deal with the Kite Shop next door, for reduced price, but it's a pretty expensive thing to do if you are not going to keep doing it, it requires a few days worth of lessons and obtaining some sort of license. If I was there for 2 weeks I would definitely do it!

There is a Restaurant and Bar at the back of the Hotel, it's not the best, not going to lie about that, it's a little better than decent, but once again it's the staff that makes the place. The waitresses are Dominican and speak English. The owner of the Restaurant is a cool Italian guy, seemed young, I couldn't tell how old he was could have been 40's but the beach life keeps you young. But the Presi's were cold and Pina Coladas were Strong, I couldn't ask for more than that! It was reasonably priced.

I really loved this place, aside from the hoeing that I was doing, I was there to make a very important decision, so every morning I would walk on the beach and think and this place was perfect for it, miles and miles of beach.

This is what I woke up to everyday

Wow! So this is the place that Ohmmmmm ownnnnnnns! Your review is a stark contrast of what I experienced. I was basically shooed away when I stopped by many years ago. I am SO happy that the place is different now! The location is so perfect, right between Sosua and Cabarete. If you have a vehicle, this is the place to stay...especially since they have quality ownership!

I'm freaking out because I wished death upon the previous owners, now I'm doing a COMMERCIAL!!!!

My Apartment

When I booked, I was given the option of paying in full via paypal or onsite. I chose the paypal option.

I got the ocean view apartment, it came with a small kitchen no stove or burner (it was a hot plate set up) I wasn't going to cook so it didn't bother me, it had plates and glasses and utensils. There was a microwave and a refrigerator.

Here is the view from the balcony

http://news.insearchofchicas.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=93868&d=1390871992

It was nice sized, had a big bathroom and shower and there was never a problem with pressure or hot water, everything worked great.

The room has two beds, on single and one double, and a balcony so I can chill with my chicas.

In closing, I loved The Kite Beach Inn, Ohmm, his wife and their staff were EXCELLENT ! ! !

There was a huge snow storm in NYC the night before I was scheduled to leave, Airport was closed and people were stranded in both NYC and DR. I explained to Ohmm that I might have to stay a while longer and asked if I could have the same room.

He gave me a phone if I needed to make long distance calls and even lowered the room rate for me, if I needed it.

That my friends in Customer Service, I have over 10 years experience in the hospitality industry, I have an eye for service and this place wins on all counts.

Now the only downside if you want to look at that way.
It's a 500 peso ride to Sosua each way, if you are not driving, if you are driving you are golden.

Right down the way you have

Gordito's

A great place to chill day or night!

There are three poppin night clubs Ojo, Kahunas, and Bambu's

So many restaurants, shops and a huge supermarket less than 10 minutes from you. Mottos can take you anywhere you want for 50 pesos.

Cabarette is a pretty dope change from Sosua, and if you are wifing up, it's PERFECT!

I would recommend Kite Beach Inn to ANYONE for a relaxing vacation spot.

Thank you Ohmm.

Nice review EC.

I have stayed here once before.
I was dealing with some non-pros, and wanted to be away from Sosua.

I agree with everything you've writtten. Ohmmmmm and his wife are great hosts, and the place has great ambiance and charm.
Cannot beat the beachfront location.

Glad you found Gordito's. The fish Tacos are a MUST stop for me every single trip to the North Coast.

Or 35 pesos for normal people.

Funny, because you are apparently happy to ride a moto despite being a superstar, so why would you not want to ride in a publico?

Otherwise a great review and pics. Well-deserved compliments for ohmmmm, I am sure.

Gdogg, That is not my hotel. The one you went to may be a different one with a similar name. My place is called Kite Beach Inn. www.kitebeachinn.com

Thank you for the kind review eastcoastallstar. I don't have a "monger" hotel, but we are chica friendly and everyone here is pretty cool. Our goal is "happy guests" It is not luxury and the restaurant is not up to par at the present moment...its just ok at the present moment with a few misses... and I am not happy about it. We are working to get it better. Drinks are typically made strong and beer is on the menu. You can sit on the deck and watch the ocean or kiteboarders in the afternoon.

Great review EC. I've only visited the Kite Beach Inn once and agree with you on the customer service and environment aspects. It does seem like a great place for a change of pace and it's also good to hear that on the mongering tip you can feel comfortable as well--of course most of us that keep it respectable with our company. I've been saying that I'm gonna start my next trip off there and just may do so next time.

Many DR hotels don't look in person like they do on their website or in pics, but I can say that the Kite Beach Inn looks as nice or better live and in person as it does in any pics.

First, thank you for acknowledging my superstar status.
Publicos suck for transportation, where the hotel is located, by the time it reaches you, is jam packed with people, sweaty, hot people.

From Sosua, I'd rather just take a cab instead of being drunk and walking up to the publico, which I would probably rent out a few seats anyway.

I like comfort.

My only experience taking the publico was from Sosua to Kite Beach. There was about 25 people in the van. Only in DR will you have a chic in a business suit sitting on a dude transporting a bucket of fish...smh

Yes you rented the front seat for 50 or 60 pesos or could have paid a taxi $40 or more. We are not talking about peanuts here.

$30 bucks actually, but hey take all the publicos you want, but don't make it seem like I'm the one that crazy for not wanting to ride around in a vehicle that's well over capacity and probably not well maintained, have any idea how bad the injuries would be should there be an accident?

That 'Cabarete Taxi Co' or whatever they're called (I think the same guys have that little booth at the corner of Dr Rosen & PC) are as bad as the airport taxi mafias. 500p is ludicrous. A regular taxi charges 300-350 tops between Sosua-Cabarete. The Cabarete Co has nicer cars/minivans though, I'll give them that.

I don't know what a regular cab is, they all quote the same prices, but 500 seemed to be the going rate.

I have taken the guagua (van) once or twice when the publico cars that were passing were all full. I really try to avoid the guagua. It might be 5 pesos cheaper than the cars, but it is not worth it.

The Kite Beach Inn is easy to get to, but sometimes not so easy to leave if you are going to Sosua. I found the best way to get back to Sosua was to take a moto into Cabarete, then either take the tourist taxi or wait for the publico. (or try to bum a ride from Ohmmmmm heheheh).

I did take a van coming back from Cabarete to Sosua on my last trip. At it's fullest, I counted 21 people inside. I had to sit up and leaning forward on the seat back in front of me the whole time. They stopped every few hundred yards. One or two people would get out and then 3-5 would get on. The ride had to have taken close to 30 minutes before I got out at the Texaco station. The Dominican experience and all! The problem it seems is that it is much easier to go to Cabarete, and cheaper too, in a taxi, but you have fewer options in getting back. The possibility of having an accident while being sardined in one of those things was never far from my mind.

After meeting weyland on the PP malecon a couple of years back, he told me where the main taxi stand was. It was 90 pesos for the front and middle seat for a ride to Sosua. 4 people were in the back, all squeezed together, going to Montellano. Beleive me, that extra room up front in a taxi was worth it! When I got out, I just gave the driver a 100 peso note and called it a day.

Excellent review on ohmmmm's hotel, Eastcoast! :iconTU:

Dude I agree with you, I'm Dominican, and when I'm in DR I try to go about my time there in the most comfortable way possible. I understand some people wanting to "bask in the culture", but I have zero interest taking publicos, or carritos, I don't want to take bucket showers outside, hell I don't even want to shower with cold water, I have no interest in going outside, and running around in the rain, or any of that other "fun" Dominican stuff.

My thing is people act like Dominicans WANT to do those things, ride an outdated vehicle that's older than me, and has a couple 100 thousand miles on it, with no seat bealts, and generally is nothing more than scrap metal, with a couple of other dozen sweaty motherfuckers. I can tell you how many, zero, they do it because it's the only affordable way for them to get from point A to point B. So when people are uber pumped to "experience" those aspects of Dominican culture, it's sort of weird, it's like being real excited to live the byproduct of poverty.

Yo EC, quick question how far is the Ojo club to Ohmmm's place? I really like that club. Last time I was there the price was fair and it had a good crowd as well. Also did you do any type of hunting at all in Cabarette?? I've notice some hunnies there that was game. Its not like sosua but you can definitely find a nice p.y.t walking around that wouldn't mind making a few extra pesos....

As is becoming more and more common, Hanzo wrote almost word for word what I was going to write.

Nobody likes taking a "voladora" Dominicana or a "concho." But if that's your only option, then you're forced to take it. I know poor chicas that will blow taxi drivers so that they don't have to ride them.

Exactly. Why in the world would someone want to take one of those things if they didn't have to?

When I was a kid, I lived in Venezuela for 2 years, we were poor, tin roof poor, had to drink powdered milk. You would have to put a gun to my head for me to drink powdered milk today.

Sometimes I ride back and forth 6 or 8 times a day so there is no way that I will be spending $100 a day on a taxi.

Some people in NY wonder how people ride a subway or bus daily rather than just cabbing it.

Well once again this really isn't about you. My original response was to Weyland and his "normal" people comment. It was also about riding from Cabarette to Sosua and Back and my choice to not use one. I also said several posts ago, take all the Publicos you want.
