So "The Pub" formerly "Cuba Libre" closed down as expected but another new bar, "The Thirsty Beaver", has now opened up in it's place.

Stopped by on opening night with another board member, stayed for 1 drink, no girls and dopey old expats dancing to 70's and 80's ear shattering karaoke rock music.:icontd:

I understand that the new guys have the use of the private back bar and that there is a possibility that someone, may be providing chicas in the near future.:confused::confused::confused: Please, no fatties!!!!:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Just my opinion but this place doesn't stand a chance unless something changes. Any place at that end of PC has to be a destination type spot. People have to be sitting in the apts or hotel rooms saying; "Let's all go to Thirsty Beaver tonight". No one is going to be saying that just for terrible karaoke. Rancho Tipico is doing well because it is a destination spot. Lots of ex-pats go there and a sprinkling of tourists. At least enough to make it viable. For those people it is a better alternative than the strip.

All Eastern Block used to be like that, they walk everywhere and keep fit that way, but since Mc Donalds has been introduced and become so popular, its not the same any more. Bulgaria is off the hook as is the czech republic & Hungary, Romania too.
And do NOT miss out on checking out the Black Sea specifically Eforie North ,and Eforie South and Mamaia also, in the Summer or you will hate yourself. And dont forget to luxuriate in a nice Mud Bath.. dont knock it til you try it.. LOL..

I stopped in last week and spoke with the owner and got a tour. Seems the owner was in the country for about nine weeks when I talked with him...so he must have committed to a new business within the first couple of weeks of landing in order to open the bar in the seventh week after arrival.... That is rapid...

If you remember how Fred had the layout and back room, nothing has really changed. The front bar has two non flaca chicas standing around. They seemed nice. The interior bar was about the same only there was one used couch there. The back room area was about the same with no work done. The new owner is living back there where the one short time room was. The new owner said he plans on refurbishing three additional rooms for short time stays with chicas.

I don't remember the new owner's name but he seemed a bit bored and worried about business. To me he should. He has done nothing so far to attract business. His personality is flat to boring and his chicas are not very attractive...to me anyways. He complained that since he opened he has had almost no business. He told me he moved here to retire and joked that he started a bar right away after first moving here and is in reality back to work...hahaha...not.

Unless he drastically changes and finds a way to offer something people want...namely hot chicas that they can salida and look at with creepy gazing eyes he is done for. I don't think he is going to make it until August first... Time will tell.

Fred had hot chicas there (ya gotta admit, the guy did have a good eye for talent) available for salida, a few of whom became 'popular' and still never made any money at that place. it's a dead spot. a money pit. a black hole. that place will never make any money no matter what they do with it.

This place HAD a chance to be nice but as most people do when they get down here they deal with Dominicans to help them with their business. Epic fail.
