Last night spent in Santiago, early in the week. 2-3 blocks from the Gran Almirante Hotel is BBQ Express and Taco Express (good service, good food). About a block from BBQ Express is Sacher Bakery and Coffee (next door is a pharmacy). Excellent coffee, excellent service, croissant was good (I had the cheese filled croissant). Good prices. Met guys who run Montecristo (Romeo y Julieta and other cigar brands) at the El Gran Almirante Hotel. Nice guys, their company also owns JR Cigars internet site. They told me the largest fabrica for cigars in the world is in La Romana. They were smoking a Churchill Montecristo, probably with a Connecticut wrapper.

Puerta del Sol faces the monument, had Quisqueya beer there.

The Shell gas station on Autopista Duarte in Santo Domingo, takes credit, bank cards. I always paid in cash for gasoline, never thought about using plastic before at a gas station in the DR.
