Any atm in the area?

I have not been there, but the Blackbeard's website says:

Cash is readily available from ATM's throughout Puerto Plata. There is now an ATM right here in Costambar and in walking distance of the hotel. Cash is dispensed in Dominican Pesos only. The Maximum amount that can be withdrawn daily is normally US$450.00.

I'll admit, I thought he was looking for this...then my deviant mind shifted to the greatest Ass To Mouth of our time...THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE!! Part 3 starring Eric Fuckin' Roberts comes out in a few months. Lets get an ISOC Screening Organized!!!

However I had a problem with the ATM at Jenny's market. It gave me a receipt and no money and debited my account in Canada. The boss at Jenny's market said it was nothing to do with him. Banco Popular said I had to apply through my bank in Canada. This I did, and three months later my account in Canada was credited with the value of the pesos I did not receive!

Glad to hear you got that money eventually Nick. I bet that was a hassle. Thankfully I never had a problem with my Schwabb card at the Banco Popular ATM outside of Jenny's.

Yes there is a Banco Popular ATM outside Jenny's Market but beware. When I was here in the summer of 2015 the ATM read my card, gave me a receipt and no money. I spoke to the owner of Jenny's who said it was nothing to do with him. I next went to the Banco Popular Branch in Puerto Plata. There they said I had to get my bank in Canada to make a claim on them quoting the number on the receipt. This I did and about three months later my account was credited with the non delivered money.

I am back in DR now and a few days ago a client at the same ATM punched in 10,000 pesos The ATM answered "not enough money maximum today is 5,000 pesos". He punched in OK and got 5,000 pesos... but a receipt for 10,000 pesos, so presumably the equivalent of 10,000 pesos was deducted from his bank account.

I can believe that because a guy posted a couple of hours back. He had exactly the same problem.

Used to be far more of such problems here. but although things are slowly improving I still never use a stand-alone ATM in the DR. Always one at a bank where I can start to get the problem sorted immediately.
