Malaysia police have arrested a bank employee and her husband for the alleged theft of around $35,000 from the accounts of four passengers who were on Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

On Thursday, police in Kuala Lumpur arrested HSBC bank officer Nur Shila Kanan. She faces 12 charges related to the alleged transferring of money from the accounts of four passengers who were on Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared in March, a spokesperson for the Kuala Lumpur Commercial Crime Investigation Department told CNN.
Police also charged Nur Shila’s husband, Basheer Ahmad Maula Sahul Hameed, with four counts of allegedly using debit and credit cards linked to the accounts of MH370 passengers.

Nur Shila allegedly committed the offences at the Lebuh Ampang HSBC bank where she worked in Kuala Lumpur. The alleged fraud happened between May 14 and July 8. The commercial crime department’s investigation began when HSBC officials alerted them to suspected fraud after an internal audit that began July 18.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty and are free on bail without their passports. They are scheduled to appear for a hearing August 25, and their cases will be tried together
