PUERTO PLATA Big surprise caused in this province the news of the arrest of businessman Armando Casciati with significant investments in the town of Sosua.
According to information from sources full credit Casciati was invited to go through the offices of the tax attorney licensed in Puerto Plata Núñez Alba, where upon arrival he was arrested by police and dela General Immigration effective.
However, Armando Casciati had all his documentation in order, so that the reasons for his arrest are not explained by migration.
Puerto Plata journalistic sources have indicated that he was moved to Santo Domingo from where he would be deported to Italy, through a flight scheduled to leave from La Romana, today at 8pm.
According to versions that have circulated in this city, it is said that the businessman and artist, would be accused of white slavery (trafficking) justify his deportation from the country.
The decision of the authorities, has generated an atmosphere of strangeness and questioning the investment climate in the country to foreign investors who make large investments and are then deported on the grounds of trafficking, leaving behind millions dollars invested in legal businesses related to tourism and real estate industry in the region.
ARMANDO Casciati : Among the investments listed Armando Casciati in Sosúa Sosúa Bay's flagship hotel, Sosua By the Convention Center, which features a casino owned by another company, fitness room and Conveciones and commercial establishments. Also Merengue Bar, and Club 59 D'Clásico, among other investments.
He has developed an extensive career with numerous exhibitions of his work both at home and abroad. Casciati hails from Milan Italy, but living in the DR for over 25 years with his family where he settled ago.
:idea2: Someone is either trying to increase their payoff, or looking at owning the only disco in Sousa , so the saga continues...

Its explained very clearly on this video that they are gonna deport every foreigner thats has a business that profits from prostitution.
Lots of things are said and are very clear in this speach. They are targeting foreigners and deportation is the easiest and fastest way to achieve their goal.
Also talking about one german deported and 2 mores to be deported soon.

EVERY business in Sosua profits from the prostitution here; from the bars to the restaurants to the hotels and the Playero as well.
The video was posted mid June so the timing is interesting too.

they make money selling stuff to whores and the gringos who love them, they don't exist to draw those gringos and whores together as the bars/clubs on the strip do.
And most of those businesses are Dominican-owned. It's one thing to quietly profit from your own 'natural resources', another thing for some foreigner to come in and do it loudly (or worse yet - successfully).

Also, afaik, Bobby @ Rumba was never actually charged with anything and no charges were pending. He was booted on nothing more than an overstayed visa (despite news reports to the contrary). He can go back whenever he wants, he just doesn't really want to.

The prosecutor says clearly that deportation is the fastest and easiest way to achieve their goal. That has a country they have the right to accept immigrants or not, and if they are profiting from the exploitation of their women, they can go back to their countries.
Its very clear that they will not need any other motives to continue what they have started.

its funny that all of the pple who he has cheated, robbed and killed, he gets deported on what seems to be bullshit. D.R. really needs to straighten out their politics because at the end of the day, you reap what you sew. i have said it b4, but notice all of the new construction going on in Sosua for these high end condos, etc. There will be new schools to educate the foreigners who buy these establishments as well....i just wonder how will the 'enforcement' trickle down to the common weekend warrior. will they arrest you if your hat is turned backwards?.....pants saggin?...plant drugs on us? wear a wife beater? drink Hennessy? whats next? this is the same question i asked in the other situation, its one thing today, but WHATS NEXT? we as foreigners really need to be mindful of that question. whts going to happen to the other hotel owners/leasers. best believe there will be another 180 degree turn.

otoh, this is also the same guy who owned the only two (large!) hotels in town with a view over the east side of playa sosua and basically let them rot away. maybe he had power and money by Sosua standards, but as a whole? Not so sure about that.
I heard he made his money from a diaper factory. Not exactly Don Vito Corleone.

My guess is the upper 30% in looks are making on average 15k a week. The upper 5% can probably pull down 20k from Thursday to Sunday. Even the chicks in the 40-70% bracket could probably make 20k a month. No, those girls are not prepared to earn an average salary.

My take is that if big spender traffic does drop many of the prima donnas there today will move to the internet or go hoe overseas. They will be replaced in time by chicas who are willing to take less. I doubt quality will drop much because even at reduced prices hoeing pays 3x as much as a regular job if they can find one. Dropping into Sosua and making only 10k from Thursday-Sunday is still a windfall for chicks not a accostomed to making more. No need to get excited though. I think prices will settle at 1.5k ST for all, but the real stars. I really can't see it getting any cheaper than that; however, quailty should be better overall so you'll get more for your money.

All is the same and nothing has changed. Do you think Armando leaving will affect anything???? No. Most people are happy he's gone and the businesses are in his wife's hands. A few small businesses have been sold off.
Many many girls in town. Sosua is still Sosua. By reading posts on this board you would think otherwise, but it's all good for low season.

Rumbas, the Manager & front man running it is Dom National..
allowed to stay open..
The only pattern that does not fit is D'Latin.. although they did get him on a technicality of not having a Disco License ??
So D'Latin may very well RE OPEN, once he gets that sorted out.`.
Cmp , was also a German National, correct ?He ws Deported but the Dominican "front men "? said they would fight it in court.. any word on that ?
but that was a straight up whore house, so kind of hard to call that one..
but them Dominicans vowing to fight in court, kind of makes sense now..
Not sure about anyone else, but imo, there is a strong pattern developing here.. One i honestly did NOT see clearly before.
Seems they do not want to fight Dominican Nationals in Court, cuz they would probably lose ??.
Anyone still thinking Rumba and Classicos will be closed soon. ?? ..

it's not at all uncommon to put property in the name of a dominican which is probably as much for tax purposes as legal ones.

They were running a whore house.not a bar.. and she is back open, as a restaurant, no ?
so the fact that she spent a brief time in jail, may have been just to "convince" them both they mean business.
Peter is in Germany, i doubt he will return to run any part of that business. in the near future anyway..
and I wish him well, noone deserves that...he built that business. or one could say they both as husband and wife built their business.
diff topic though..
but her time in jail was not that long , and was she even convicted or charged with anything ?.
If they want to hold a foreign national for even a Traffic accident, they can mess with any one of us a LOT more ...

In a recent press release Brito listed Peter as deported as of August 13, 2014. I for one was not aware of Peter's deportation prior to reading that press release.
Which makes one then wonder, why such a big Publicity over Bobby ( Rumba) and also Armando (classicos)
Being Ejected.. even accusting them of "white slavery" & "promoting and profiting from prostitution" (pretty strong words)
but not much publicity about Peter (passions, a real whore house)
being ejected / Deported ?
I have no theory on this .. just asking..

maybe they felt they already got all the marketing hoohah they needed out of peters name, new names = new press releases.
and that's all it seems the press there is good for, because afaik everything they wrote about bobby's arrest was complete fabrication. "bar owner told to leave due to overstayed visa" doesn't have the same ring to it.
i guess it all just goes to show, when the gov't is threatening you with prosecution for a laundry list of bullshit, even if you know they don't have any real cards to play, it's easier to just leave, and i think that's exactly what they're banking on.

I thought I read somewhere that prostitution was legal, just pimping is not... For the most part if the "pimping" part were charged on a Dominican, it seems the unwritten rule is dont hit em to hard(Dominican residents/Dominican nationalists, etc... But still illegal for a "non-Dominican" being charged with the same charge, it may not be looked away or the charge may be lessened... But for a non-Dominican making profit and running the "illegal shot' just aint gonna fly with the powers that be... kinda sorta, or at least it sounds like it... No??? Right or wrong is not the question of course, just seems how thing hand plaid out and how it seems to be now....Or maybe im just blind and don't get it......

I had heard (and maybe this is bullshit) that pimping is only illegal if you don't have a license, and Peter had a license. IIRC, they didn't bust Peter specifically for pimping but a list of other charges, most notably 'human trafficking', remember how the news had reported that authorities had 'freed' the female employees, as if they had been held against their will?

Pimping is illegal. There is no licence.
There was a formal complaint based on age.
Yes, there was that other notable charge (scouting in other cities or hiring process for P4P represents illegal activity according to Dom law)

Agreed. It is about foreign loudmouths sullying the image of the Dominican Republic and its people by posting all their sexual exploits on the Internet. Including pictures, videos, denigrating comments about country and people, etc.
Do you have a high level of confidence that Armandos Classicos and Afterone will remain open with his wife keeping them open? The DR authorities will not make her close them? Your reasoning?
Who knows what will happen. Rumbas is still open. Armando's wife has already sold one of the businesses called North Coast Design.
From what I have heard the next target is Rancho Tipico.
Passions is reopening and should be ready next week, it is suppose to be somekind of restaurant. We'll see how long that stays open.
Eventhough nobody knows what will happen, I think that most of us can agree on why it happened. The pictures and videos (you-tube) got out of hand and the image needs to be cleaned up. The pieces-of-shit that video everything and post it, are the ones to blame. The girls are not stupid and know what is going on and they are extorting the guys on it. They see the pics and the videos and they cry to the police to get money out of the posters. The party at the Victorian house video is being talked about by the local Sosua Dominican business men (I was at the meeting) and they are embarassed of this. So, the damage is done. If you see somebody with a camera in a bar, take it and break it from the fucker.
I think everything will calm down, but the Authorities need to prove their point.

The meetings are organized by the business owners of Pedro Clisante...mostly the smaller restaurants, bars and clothing shops. We meet every so often to discuss issues....the locations always changes. The Victorian house video was brought up by a very well known lawyer. He was ashamed of having such an event in his hometown and then having it all over the internet. His kids saw it as well. When I saw the video, all I saw were fat ugly chicks.
Why can so many of us be discreet and others be assholes? Does everybody really need to famous???? Every single member that I met on this board is in agreement about stopping the posting of videos....I don't think the main members are to blame.

Exactly and that's a good thing. I'm down to walk around, explore, have some conversations and find a chica who is willing..hopefully this leads to less greedy fugly street rat chicas asking for ridiculous prices because they now also have to work to ply their trade..unlike in DLatin and Classicos where all they have to do is shake their cellulite loaded ass and someone is willing to pay them.

I get your point, but the problem is not finding chicas... the problem in having the main bars closed is that those bars were the bigger ones and the ones with more people and room to dance.
I love places like Plan B and little bars like that, but if you start closing bars like DLatin, Rumba, Rancho Tipico etc... well the night you want to go dancing or having some more action, then you have to go to Puerto Plata ( La canita etc..)

What about Rio Verde? I have seen some good dancing there with a friendly atmosphere. That's nearer to Sosua. Always chicas to dance with if you don't already have a partner.

Come on, you cannot compare Rio Verde with Dlatin, Classico or other big bars. First of all, yes ,we can go to other places ( as I usually do almost every time I am in town, I spend one night at La Canita), but it would be much better to go to a place in town and not being forced to drive all the times. and it's not just for dancing... a big bar gives you a chance to meet a lot of people...
Also having more choices makes the place ( Sosua) more fun. There is no denying that having different types of clubs/bars is better then having just a few and just the small ones... I have never been a big fan of Dlatin, but I had fun there too so when they shut it down I was not happy...

And Again...I like to mix things.. I slept in the campos, I visit chicas in Santiago, Santo Domingo, Higuey, Bavaro etc.... I went dancing/hanging out in little and big dance halls/bars and you know what? Having a lot of choices is always better than having a few

I was looking throught the old souse is dead thread and shoguns start of that thread this June is interesting:
Short and sweet.
- Wille and Armondo were officially summoned to Santo Domingo for a 3 day talk with the Attorney General and with the Minister of Tourism. Freelance Operations in Sosua will cease with an effective date TBD(****SOON****). They and other property/club owners will continue to lobby for allowing the girls to remain in their clubs and bars unmolested.
- The blocked streets made the problem worse at the West End. (They put 1 Barrier in the wrong spot)
- The new women's jail at the very end of Pedro close to the old casino is almost complete. Upon a chica being arrested it will be a mandatory 48HR lock-up. The plan is for the sweeps to begin as soon as it is complete. Completion date was Summer 2014
- The New Port is not complete but work still continues. The target date for completion was Summer 2014.
more to follow...............
This was in June. Since that meeting in SDQ Bobby is gone and Armondo is gone. So that meeting was no joke when you look back on it.
When is that jail going to be open? That could change things. Shogun says sweeps to begin when that jail open.
One thing we have learned though is we have been talking about the death of Sosua for what 8 years now...haha...keeps on ticking.

Makes you wonder how Black Beards and FOD stay open.
Jeffrey explained his situation with FOD yesterday on "that other board" - the one that blocks out its services to the Dominican Republic. Pedro, the general manager, is Dominican, as is the rest of the crew (with Nico's departure to Blackbeards) - Jeffrey stays in the background, taking care of what he calls the "technical back-end" of the system. He has also relinquished his actual legal ownership of the corporation that runs FOD ... providing himself all the legal cover he can; he has other projects going on and he wants to keep out of the line of fire.
As for "El Capitan" of BB's, according to their ConstantContact newsletter, he is still 'in absentia,' going through hospital hell in the States. I'm not sure of his management staff, but those that aren't Dominicans are probably relatively safe as salaried employees.
Seville, you're on the ground down there, so you know more than I could possibly know about the situation. But I've got this half-baked, ignorant opinion that FOD and Barba Negra, being outside of Sosua, aren't any concern of Madam Mayor ... and also, since they're out and away from things enough to keep a low profile, they aren't on Señor Brito's radar.
I hope nothing happens to prove me wrong.

Not sure if you knew, but Bobby from Rumba's was also just a "manager" or something like that... The business was not and is not in his name... But then again, maybe that's why he was able to leave on his own, and allegedly able tocome back if/when he pleases.... Sure pal, come back, we would love to try to abuse you any possible way we could figure out... And this is a good guy that gave back MUCHO to the needy people of Sosua.... Talk about biting the hand that feeds you... The guy only owneda bar where guys just happen to meet whores at... Aint like he was pimpin them...
Honestly, I don't pay much attention as it doesn't really affect me. Almost everything I hear is rumor and speculation. I quit paying attention to that stuff a long time ago as 90% of it is BS.

The More they closed down these Bars. The More the Chicas will be desperate. They have a Lifestyle to maintain.
This is just the unqualified, completely de-relict-of-any-respect, attitude that is so prevalent on the Internet.
Dude talking out of his ass. Doesn't speak Spanish, doesn't understand or even care to understand the cultural environment he is in.
INSTEAD: "I got $$$. Do as I say."
Honestly, I am w/ Brito and Alba Nunez. Let's get the street cleaned up of this kind of tourist TRASH!!!!!!!!
Let's get back a modicum of respect for one's transactional partners as well as the host country!
P.S.: What do you know about a chicas life-style, B****?
You wouldn't last a week in the conditions many of these girls have to survive day-to-day.

Hunter thanks for the flashback.................
Will provide on the ground update ASAP. Would be very helpful to know from folks there as well what the deal is now. $500 entrance for chicas at Classico's ? I don't believe that ever happened. I have been told by many sources that CLassico's is still open but with a fee of $200 PESO for all. No news on hotels getting harassed either. Chicas are still in abundance. Anyone know if the jail is open?
ST is still $1000 to $1500
TLN can be had for $1500 to $2000
Anybody got a link to that Victorian House Video that got people fired up?

Not sure if you knew, but Bobby from Rumba's was also just a "manager" or something like that... The business was not and is not in his name... But then again, maybe that's why he was able to leave on his own, and allegedly able tocome back if/when he pleases.... Sure pal, come back, we would love to try to abuse you any possible way we could figure out... And this is a good guy that gave back MUCHO to the needy people of Sosua.... Talk about biting the hand that feeds you... The guy only owneda bar where guys just happen to meet whores at... Aint like he was pimpin them... That was (in my opinion) one of the most fucked up things of this new way of Sosua....
Thanks for setting me straight. I certainly agree, Bobby's situation was TOTALLY fucked-up, and so is Armando's ... where does this leave any foreigner with a business that counts mongers among its clientele?

Or more generalized: "Where does that leave any foreign-owned business/financial interest in the DR?"
Even on my second or third trip to the DR, I heard stories along the lines: "We imported $1M of construction equipment into the DR. The Air Base next to POP seized it and demanded "ransom". Fiscal PP ruled against them, and "Aero Fuerza Dominicana" still wouldn't release it w/o payment. We are done doing business here."
That was 10 yrs ago!
Nothing has changed. But it seems that nothing has been learned either.

Jeffery does not nor ever did own FOD. He is the owner of the corporation but the corporation doesn't have any hard assets related to FOD,the real estate is owned by Armado and/or Pedro, they are the owners. Pedro pays Jeffery to maintain the website, that's it.

As I recall, from the time before Jeffrey took over the lease and started the present FOD, the real-estate belongs to "Armando" - I'm not sure if that was Signor Casciati, all I recall hearing was the first name.
What I wanted to convey was that Jeffrey has relinquished ownership of the corporation that runs FOD, as well. He's still maintaining the website, and "taking care of customer relations" as he put it, but he's keeping his distance as best he can ... he's working on a different project, and he doesn't want to be caught up like Peter, or Bobby, or now Armando Casciati.
What was the old saying? "He who sups with the devil should bring a long spoon."

True, but things are just a little too fucked up right now, at least how it sounds on here... I'd rather wait for the dust to settle a bit before going back for a week or more... Plus, the next trip looks very much like it will start in SDQ,continue to Boca Chica, then a few other towns hosted by Tgunzz and crew... I may, but not sure, wind up finishing up the trip in the Su for the last couple days... But nothing is written in stone yet.... One thing and the only thing that looks pretty sure is my 20th trip to DR will be around my 40th birthday... It only seems right for that to happen... And sad as it sounds to me, my first trip to DR was to SDQ and I haven't flew into that airport ever since... Plus with more and more options (direct) from JFK, and around $350-$400 give or take, it makes it all that much better...

I've only been there once, and that was with about 8 dudes, 0 being Dominican, and we definitely stuck out... But not once did I feel threatened or not welcome, but then again we didn't stay very long and didn't see many that looked fuckable (at least in my taste)... Im pretty sure though if I did, I could have got a BJ in the parking lot without a problem... Maybe I went on a bad night, or maybe we didn't stay long enough to find that hidden gem... But it was definitely a spot where Dominican's look for a quick piece of ass before going home to wifee... lol
I'll also never forget putting the empty grande bottles under the tables, aka their way of counting how many you ordered and how much the bill would be... lol

The name is "Amado". Ironically it means "beloved". He is Alberto Noesi's nephew and was his money collector and enforcer. I remember seeing him pull a gun on Dominican Billy during a trivial dispute over storage space but Billy was not at all fazed. I have never been clear if his interest in FoD and cabaña La Roca is with his own money or as a front for Alberto.

Beas,
I am sure you are not the only one that feels this way. I have kept quiet on a public board on this subject out of respect for Mr Casciati and his family. This has been a trying time for them.
But this has not effected business. Sosua Hotels, Bars, and Clubs are open. Traveller's are still visiting daily. This is just a bump in the road. Not one of Mr Casciati's businesses have stopped operating since his departure from DR.

Getting rid of business owners for the purpose of cleaning up the streets but yet the business stays open just doesn't make sense. Mongers don't need to agree with the reasons, but they do need an explanation that makes a little bit of sense, even for DR standards.

That is so true, you can land here ignorant and walk around and get laid 24 times a day if you wanted... There are plenty of smaller bars to hang out at if you want and the beach and lots to do and guys to drink beers with and music to be listened too...and football games on tv during the day or whatever. Even Classico's and Rumba are still open. It's still a great place to monger though its not a circus. Walk around and talk to some chicas and many want to talk with you... Look at them too long in the downtown area and they will be right next to you in less than a minute... Its not the height of debauchery but its still fantasy island...

I'm pretty sure if you dig a little deeper, you'll find Alberto is the real owner of FOD, and Amado is just the "pretend" owner because of Alberto's financial dealings.
Amado also used to "own" the Mountainview... but it was also Alberto's property.
For a time, Amado was the "owner" of the Blackbeards property, but once again... the owner really was Alberto, just like the big car wash place on the left when you're entering Costambar.
When John first bought Blackbeards, Alberto used to come by almost on a daily basis. He and I would spend a lot of time chatting, and he was always trying to get me to buy one of the dozens of properties he owned.
He told me more than once that he didn't think John would come through on the last payments for Blackbeards, and if he didn't, he'd let me make the final payments and stay with the property.
Amado used to come in frequently, always with a couple of girls. That was pretty ballsy considering he lived about a hundred feet away.
One night he and I were in the Jacuzzi with two girls he brought in, and one of the girls "playslapped" him in the face, and he punched her in the mouth so hard it knocked her two front teeth out. Then he pulled her naked out of the jacuzzi bleeding all over the place and drug her out to the front gate and threw her out.
I couldn't do much about it because he always carried a 44, and I'm sure he wouldn't have been afraid to use it on me. Even back then, he had a really bad reputation and was known to have killed a few folks.
That's a side of Alberto's business very few know about.

When we started there was no Rumba. Places like Pasions, CMP, D'Latin, El Toro, etc. have been closed. Who knows what the future holds. I'm sure people that want to will adapt or move on. To newbies it will still be the greatest vacation in the world. The guys that like to pop bottles in their white suites might be a little bothered but life goes on. Hi Martin: I remember the day very well. As far as FoD, Cabana La Roca and Mountain View Hotel they have changed hands back and forth so many times just to cover the money trail. I have never been able to figure out who owns what or who controls what.
Amndo did pull a gun on me and that was after a few years in the past I cooked a pizza for him and took it to him in "Fortaleza" (jail).
He was there after a kid working for him at the cabanas Nueva York was shot to death. He was released after about 3 weeks and what really happened was never known.

I heard just the other day Alberto is in Miami. He was only locked up for 3 or 4 moths until he paid off the guy who had enough money to payoff the right people. With enough money you can get justice or avoid justice depending on the situation. Once the guy got his money back out of "Anoeca" he let Alberto out of jail.

At all times we have considered an abuse of power is executed by Dominican authorities against the foreign investor Armando Casciati .
It has been extradited twice outside Dominican Republic , alleging that it is pederast , but never showed the evidence to society, what makes us think that has only been an abuse of power articulated by stakeholders that Casciati not remain in the country .
We believe and maintain the ideals of justice should be equal for all , based on the balance .
