It's time for my report about the place.
Rocky's hotel is a great place to stay. I stayed there about 65 nights and never had a problem.

The good:

Always clean, the girls do a great job and are always smilling ! The toilet paper, soap and towell are not rationned, you never miss anything.

Electricity always on 24/24, the inverter work great. Hot water also and TV with cable

Computers with fast internet available for a cheap price

Excellent resto and bar, never had a bad meal or a warm beer

Security is excellent. No annoying watchyman. The gate is locked at night and you have your own key, a girl can't leave without you. No safe but you can put passport-wallet-etc in Marco's safe.

The location is great. No need for a moto to get there and even with the street lights off, it's not a problem walking there.

Always nice friendly peoples in the place : ex-pats, tourists, sometime a girl or two. No CD seller, Shoe shine boys, aggresive putas, tigre, etc. That alone, is a big plus. You can sit there and relax.

The staff is great. Sonia, Celia, the cooks, the maids, Ted and Marco, everyone is friendly and honest. Ted have a lot of great stories to share...

The bad:

It's not cute and nicely decorated but I don't care about that. It's clean.

Some don't like big dog but Bruno is nice and calm and always stay in the back.

Only 4 rooms.

Only one room has A/C. Never needed it, even in june. Just put the fan at full blast.

No pool. The ocean is 5 minutes away, so...

Can be noisy if your sensible to that

Oh, and the price is great : US$22.

Beware: Many chicas are afraid of the dogs, although the dogs are very nice. Had to literally piggy-back a girl from the bar to the room, all in an effort to avoid the dog.

That can be a good thing.

That can be a good thing.

Depends on the size of the girl.

Hello Eveyone,
I am a novice to the whole DR experience. I will be making my first trip on the 27th and staying for seven days. I would like to check out as much of the island as possible. Can anyone give some places to check out and nice cheap lodging in the different places. Also do i need to make reservations before I leave?

Welcome cosmicf,

I would recommend either Rocky's, Europa or Romanoff for lodging while in Sosua. These are kinda barebones places but, they will help get your first trip off on the right foot. Plus, they are affordable and guest-friendly.

All the above places require reservations which can be made via e-mail. Just Google "HOTEL NAME + sosua + Domincan republic" and you should get their websites.

However, if you want to wing it, similar to my first trip. (Read my trip reports) then you can just walk up to the hotels and ask for vacancies. Europa and Rocky's are always relatively full. However, Romanoff should have vacancies as they always do.

PM me if any specific questions.
