Any advice as to what clubs/strips to hit up? Haven't decided on anything yet...would love to hear some recommendations.

Thinking about staying at BQ, Acuarium or Casona after reading some of the older posts. Anyone been there recently? Any updates to the city? I hear its one of the most dangerous places to go. Any specific places/neighborhoods I should avoid?

There are a few reports and every July and November a few of us hit Boca and the Capital.

Stayed at BQ this past weekend. The hotel is nice but, I think it is over priced. The only good thing
about it is they will not bother you about bring guests to the hotel. The rooms are pretty nice, clean,
and spacious. The hotel is located in a nice area within SD -- Bella Vista. There is a la Sierena, mall,
and a McDonalds within walking distance You will need to take a taxi to all the other places. The hotel
is not close to the discos or other bars. Most of the discos are located on Av. Venezuela. I went to
Euphoria a few times and had a good time every night. You will be better off if you know a few girls
there that are willing to show you around and hang out with you.

I'm not sure where I'm staying yet...what area is considered poor barrio? Colonial Zone seems to be the safest? Most of the hotels seem to be there...

I did do both, like I said, I narrowed it down to BQ, Acuarium, Casona and now maybe Riazor. But I was replying to nattmatt saying all the action and clubs are around Avenida Venezuela. I didn't see any recommendations for hotels for that part of the Capital. And looking at this [https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?msa=0&mid=zkJpJBI74G4A.kcRRKE_gH90k I dont see any hotels around there either though that map is probably really outdated.

Whatever you do, stay within the confines of the center of the city, where there are paved roads. Do not travel beyond the paved roads.

The natives are not known to be receptive to foreigners. Being attacked with spears, poison darts and arrows is not something you want to do.
Avoid all heavy vegetation and jungle areas.

Any area that looks like you may need a machete to clear your way should be avoided at all costs.

Some guys seem to be drawn by the topless girls with loincloths, but they really are not worth the trouble, but the truth is, they are not as clean and disease free as you may expect.

See buddy if you read the reports the action is not en la venelueza! only the night clubs are there, to that fact there are more nightclubs or lounges in naco. The whore action is far from there. The map is still super accurate after all these years.

if you googled you will see only one hotel in that area. If you did read the reports or googled the area you will see that its las minas, not a safe area for your typical tourist.

I have many reports, reasonble man has a ton of reports, even if you go back to Koki's reports the info is still up to date.

I did not see that many hotels in that area. Even if there were hotels in that area, I would not stay there.
I stayed at BQ and enjoyed it. There is a restaurant within the hotel that servers pretty good food and there
is a pool and hottub on the 8th floor. If you stay there, you and your guest can use it.

If you are looking for girls, then you will have to be prepared to put in some work to get the girls out of the
bars in that area. I know some some girls that live there. The locals in the discos are friendly and will talk
to you and mingle with you if you can speak Spanish.

Riazor is perfect for a first time to SDQ. That's where I stayed. You are right near the casas...301 and a bunch around it. You can take a cab to colonial zone no problem or baby dolls. Smoker city in baby dolls. Pay the 4000...WTF....

One of my chicas took me to Venezuela one night. It is night club scene. I did see a couple hos but mostly regular girls. Fucking loud....lol... I am old....

Riazor is decent hotel and clean. Chica friendly and nice restaurant next door for free breakfast.

SKynrd says he bangs chicas getting off from work at casino sitting there...muthafucking rockstar

I hope you are correct, I checked it out about a year ago and they didn't seem to receptive. Maybe new management? The rooms are nice a the location is good for SDQ. Hopefully someone who has stayed there recently will chime in.

Thanks for the heads up, I have yet to bring 2 chicas back to my apt I dunno how you guys do that. Only happened to me in Sosua. The Chicas I've met in the cities are never tolerant of other chicas...any tips how you manage to get 2 chicas that aren't pros? Also I've found that if you make nice with the staff they'll let a lot of things slide even though its against their policy, especially at night with the bare bones crew :D

IDK how familiar you are with Santo Domingo, but if I may, there are certain things you should be aware of, and know. If you're hoping for point, and click like Sosua, you're shit out of luck, for the exception of a few pockets around the city (Avenida Espana, The Malecon) as two examples, street walkers aren't something you'll see, if you know where to look for them, you can find them with relative ease, but for the most part, it's not as easy as Sosua. The city is literally filled with dozens, upon dozens of whore houses, some are extremely discreet and you would never know they exist, others are more in your face. From my experience the higher the price of the girls in the brothel is, the better looking the girls tend to be. You can go to a place like GBP which is a casa covered extensively on this site, and you can bang a chick for $1,000 pesos, but generally speaking it's pretty hard to find a chick whose any decent looking willing to bang for $1,000 pesos in SDQ (Obviously beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I'm sure some guys here feel like they find great looking girls at the price, I beg to differ)

You're going to have to use a taxi to move around the city, my recommendation is you ask around, hopefully some SDQ based board members have reliable, and trustworthy taxis you can use (I have a guy I use specifically for my airport pick ups, and drop offs that I can put you in touch with, IDK if he speak any English, but he's a solid dude from the limited experience I have using his services). Always be aware of the distance you're traveling, and what the fare is (you can call a taxi base, and ask for the fare before they dispatch a cabbie to your location) As taxis will try to price gouge you, and take advantage of you for every single penny they can.

Honestly there are not to many board members who cover SDQ, especially recently, but you can look through the DR trip report section of the site, and see a couple recent SDQ TR, it'll help you get a good feel for the city, points of interest, and any other useful information you may need.

Awesome, thanks for the info man. I've never been to SDQ but have been to Santiago a few times and I've never had to worry about needing point and click. That's something reserved for Sosua. Santo Domingo is a little more intimidating than Santiago because its sooo big and more heavily populated, but I'll enjoy the challenge. If you don't mind could you PM me the name and number of your taxi guy?

Hey Beyond:

I was looking at the name of the hotel and knew it sounded familiar. That is where Grey stayed this summer. That is great spot. The rooms are a like a condo.

You are right on Pasteur with all the casas. There are 2-3 of them right there and 301 up the ways. Riazor is near there where I stayed. You will get a lay of the land pretty quick. Its not too hard. Jaguar was closed when I was there. If its open that's another avenue to find chicas. There are a lot of hustlers on Pasteur wanting to get credit for taking you to casa so be aware.

One of the guys brought me to a massage jack shack near there. Wasn't that great. The casas are expensive and its only a couple hours. But some real light skin smokers. Baby Dolls and Foxy are a cab ride away with the hottest ones....

There are street hos around there too at night. I didn't partake in those but Grey did. Oh and take pics and report back

I'd have to get his number from my wingman, once I do that I'll PM you the information, he's a younger dude, he's my age if I'm not mistaken, drives a pretty decent car around.

It seems like your interest are civilians? Depending on the length of your stay, and if you happen to be in Santo Domingo on a weekend, but I can not recommend enough to you checking out "Agora Mall"

https://www.google.com/search?q=agora+mall&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 (here is a simple google search page of Agora Mall, provides you with the address, hours of operation, and it's website). You wouldn't need any of this info really, you can just hop in a cab, say Agora Mall, and they'll know exactly what you're talking about, it's like getting in a cab in New York City, and asking them to take you to Times Square, no need to provide more information than the name of your destination.

Agora Mall is basically aimed at the 1% of the Dominican Republic, the women you say there are not just exclusively Dominican, you see lots of South Americans there too! Try and make it out on a Saturday, arriving around noon for lunch time (if you try and make it out there anytime between the hours of like 1:00 PM - 7:00 PMish depending on the direction you're coming from, and how close by you are, you may run into gridlock traffic, that will easily double the length of your travel time as that area is generally heavily congested during those times, so leaving a bit earlier is better to beat the traffic, and trust me you haven't been to SDQ yet, traffic there is an absolute nightmare) You'll see an abundance of beautiful women walking around, eating, shopping, just fine bitches everywhere! If you have some sort of personality, are hygienic, and well groomed, they can be approached, some may just have perpetual bitch face, and a stank attitude, but that's to be expected, it's not impossible to find the rich daughter of some big business man who has no problems being approached, and if she likes you giving you her number. Works for me all the time.

The placed the guy took me too wasn't really a massage place. Just 2 Domincan girls in a house who give a half ass massage then hand job. I don't know of any massage places like sosua or boca in that area. Other SDQ experts can chime in on that. I don't know.

I remember going to the mall to watch the futball game, the quality of women make it feel that i wasnt in RD. The stark difference between the barrio barbies and hija's de papi y mami.

Even is also a huge difference between the barrio/campo barbies and the middle class daughters...... time to check out kayak.com FML

I'll be in the capital from april 8th to 11th. Staying here https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/4951153?checkin=08-04-2015&checkout=11-04-2015&guests=3&s=koEB

My 5 visit to the capitol.

Oh and take pics and report back
Shakeys. Found it on Booking.com
Directly behind Crowne Plaza (formerly Intercontinental). My balcony overlooked their pool and the Caribean. Full 1br appt. for $100/night. Good deal for the location.

Go downstairs to catch a smoke, 30 ho's will hit on you before the cig is out, guaranteed. Some are not regulars, just trying to make the rent. Free range Punani is the 2nd best option to "friends of friends".

Unless you can get Mr. Happy to send one of his cast off's your way. Good luck with that....

I was also thinking of staying at Acuarium or Shakey. You really cant find to much info about Acuarium here. I know its cheaper than Shakey but I have no idea where it is. Good thread. Just the info I was looking for.

I've walked the entire neighborhood, fished off the malecon and eaten in dozens of little spots aroun Ensanche Isabelita. No problems out of anyone, ever. Made a few new friends along the way.

Lots of free range Punani all over the place.

Yea I looked at Acuarium but decided against it due to it being on the other side. When are you planning to go?

I haven't stayed at Aquarium since they cleaned up BC. Last time in Santo Domingo I stayed at Shakeys and loved it. 4 Chica Casas in 2 blocks with freelancers and good food everywhere. What's not to like.

If I wanted to wife up a Chica for a couple days I would definitely return to Acuarium. Self contained, no distractions.

Interesting. I went there and the guy told me only one guest at a time. Outside the place is swarming with hoes too.

I'm paying about $80 after taxes. Theres a genius discount if you qualify for that in booking.com. I find w/ crappy hotels you end up paying about 55-60 after taxes so why not $20 more for a nice one.

well, with booking.com if you've booked with them at least 5 times you qualify for this thing called genius discount. 10% off on select hotels. And Shakey is one of those hotels.

It is Ho Central. I was there in Sep but I didn't try tossing triples. Maybe I'll give it a shot next time.

There was an evening desk guy who gave me the stankeye but a word to the mgr. in the morning turned him into my newest, bestest buddy. I'm not paying top dollar for bullshit from the help.

Funny part was Koki and Hunter came up and had to leave their ID at the desk. I never seen them card Gringos like that in the DR before.

But they are just a room. I prefer not to see the bed from the entrance. To me that's worth paying extra and the balcony overlooking the Sea is a great place to get to know a Chica. I'm a silly old romantic who like his Pum-Pum under the moonlit sky. Unless of course it's raining.
