So the British Pub with the butterflies on the walls did not work ?

shocking..

Chinese Food, they got a Shot at least.. everyone gets hungry for Chinese Food..

Just keep it clean , and not so heavy on the MSG, and I'm there for at least 2 meals per trip....

Do they make a Good Hot and Sour soup, that is the question..

Most of the Chinese restaurants in Puerto Plata and Santiago serve all Dominican food. And the one on El Conde in Capital as well.

You mean "Chinese food" in POP means "platos tipicos - cooked by a Chinaman?"

There is a Chinese Restaurant in Santiago on Calle Del Sol , near the monument , which serves some of the best authentic Chinese I ever tasted..

In fact some of the other customers looked down their Noses at me... like "who let this fucker in here"

The food was really GOOD.. the Chinese owner was walking around making sure everything was ok.

If it was by classicos and rhumba they would do good i.m.o. if it was good and open very late.

If anybody is ever in Santiago going from the monument toward la vega. The is an excellent place on the same side of the street you would be driving. In the middle of the block. Always packed around lunch. Stopped bye there with Beas n Cam. But it was to crazy and we left.

From the outside I don't think you could tell it's a Chinese place.

I bet a buck it's gonna be a Chinese Pica Pollo.

Fried chicken, broiled chicken, pechurinas, tostones, papa frita, white rice, fried rice, locrio de guandules. Maybe some fried eggplant, cerdo, chicken liver and gizzards.

Bollitos de queso, bollitos de pollo. Maybe some fried fish.

I could probably tell you what order it will be laid out.

I stopped into a Chinese restaurant in SD on Ave. Bolivar, just west of the parque where the Conde begins. I was the only customer at the time as it was around 4 pm, but the food was great, and a lot of it. It was kind of funny, hearing the Chinese couple that ran the place speaking very fast spanish to the waitress.

Until I learned from reading this board, I had never known, nor even thought, that SD has a China Town.

The whole world loves a tasty broccoli beef! :iconTU:

From the looks of things the place might be a disappointment when it opens. They have set up one of those warming tray things for pre-cooked food like you see in the pica pollo / chinese places. That does not bode well but will have to wait and see.

Maybe they are planning on doing big Volume at certain Hours of the day , and will make each pupular dish in large batches and just keep it hot in the chafing trays ?

but you right, if people go there and we see food thats been SITTING there for HOURS in some tray .. nah, I aint eating that.
If I see people buzy, and the sound of Woks being scraped and oil sizzling and stuff flying..then may give it a shot..

There's 2 chinese restaurants in cabarete about a block a part from eachother. Owned by the same family. One of them serves only chinese food and the other one serves both chinese and dominican food. They are in the center of cabarete on the right when you come from sosua.

I have tried the place several times since they opened. I have to give it a resounding thumbs down!! The only thing worth getting is fried chicken with white rice. Three pieces of chicken with white rice is 170 pesos. A leg and thigh with fried rice is 200 pesos.

The two Chinese dishes I have tried were forgettable and one of them was way too salty.

Sorry to say, but this place is quite the disappointment! As usual Seville's report is 100% accurate! Even ordering an item that must be prepared fresh didn't save the day. But look on the bright side, my dogs ate it all up happily!! The Chinese in Cabarete is much better!!

Okay, so I have been there and seen for myself. I would have to agree with the opinions presented heretofore. The food at the Cabarete place quite good, and not so hot in Sosua.

The chicken and broccoli (my go-to Chinese dish) in Sosua was mediocre at best. It was very dry looking. When I commented on this, they tossed some more sauce on it which appeared to be soy sauce, which did not make much of a difference. I guess this place would do in a pinch, but I was not especially impressed.

On to Cabarete. The taxi publico driver knew exactly where the place was on the main drag and let me out at the front door, and the fare was a fine 30 pesos, as compared to the $15 the taxi mafia has posted on their board.

It is true that there is another Chinese restaurant just two doors down. I was not able to understand the connection between the two, but the Dominicana lady at the first one did tell me that the food there was the same as the food at "Restarante China" in Puerto Plata, and the food at the other place was different. Both owned by the same family as the Puerto Plata place.

So I took home two dinners, chicken and broccoli (with rice included), and chicken chow mein -- although I knew from my previous purchases in Puerto Plata that the chicken chow mein was really what I know back in the states as chicken lo mein, with the long, pasta-like noodles. Total damage, only 360 pesos! Huge portions, easily good for two meals each.

Both dishes very good. They were about the same as I remember receiving at the Puerto Plata place. Not the best Chinese I have ever had, but -- very good indeed. I plan to make this a regular stop in my future Sosua visits.

My comment on the Chinese dish I purchased there, which was a simple chicken and vegetable dish, is that it tasted so bad that I threw it away. The family there is large and yes they're Chinese, but I don't think any of them know how to cook Chinese food. I was quite disappointed to say the least.

I was there second day and had some kind of pork and the fried rice. The pork was mostly bone and fat. Very little meat. Went back a couple days later and had fried rice and something else for take out. Not very impressed.

The Fried rice is ok in a pinch to grab and take home, but nothing to shout about. How can you screw up fried rice??

No wonton soup, no shrimp toast. They better get their act together if they want to survive. I was really hoping for some good chinese in Sosua. Oh well.

The Fried rice is ok in a pinch to grab and take home, but nothing to shout about. How can you screw up fried rice??

No wonton soup, no shrimp toast. They better get their act together if they want to survive. I was really hoping for some good chinese in Sosua. Oh well.

That is what you get when a delivery guys opens a restaurant.
