Hello all I am new to this board and some of my questions may have been answered in the past but I figured I'll ask any way… I'm traveling to Sosua in April 2016 and I'm trying to prepare what's the best way to chica proof my room and roughly how much USD should I bring for a 5 night trip aiming for at least a chica a day maybe two

How much USD ... I always bring too much. I budget about $200 - 250 per day, not including lodging (which I try to PayPal in advance); and whatever is left over goes toward the next trip. (I carry cash, Franklins, in a money belt; but I also carry a credit-card 'just in case.')

Consider - is there anything else you'd like to do, aside from the chicas? Maybe golf? Maybe deep-sea fishing? How about a party-boat snorkeling adventure? How about scuba-diving - which admittedly is my passion? How about eating and drinking, FFS? Bring extra money for that!

Current reports seem to be that the Sosua chicas want 2000 Dominican pesos for "short time" (an hour or two, or one pop) and 3000 to 4000 pesos for "toda la noche" (with two pops, pre-slumber and wake-up-call). This evening, the official exchange rate is 45.55 pesos per dollar, so US$200 is more than 9000 pesos - a pretty good deal; and, as I said, any extra US$ currency comes home, no harm, no foul. (Same with Dominican pesos, if you'll return.)

Now, as far as chica-proofing your room -- the hotels I've stayed at in Sosua have strong-boxes in the room. Generally, they're big enough for your passport, your back-home wallet, your phone, your watch, your camera, and any other such SMALL valuables you bring with you. (I can't promise that your notebook-PC will fit. Mine didn't, in the last couple of places where I've stayed.) Some places have electronic safes, where you can punch in your own 'combination code;' Casa Cayena is an example. Some places have key-locked strongboxes, and if you lose the key you'll have to pay for a new key-lock cylinder as well as the fee for drilling your old lock out; Victoria House is my example, because I lost my key there and had to pay for the "full service" drill-out as well as the new lock!

As far as worrying about thieving chicas - yeah, it's possible. But if you don't give 'her' a chance to steal, or to find your strongbox-key and raid it in the middle of the night, you haven't got much to worry about ... yes, this advocates the ST liaison, rather than the TLN. But I have problems sleeping with a bed-mate ... I'm not used to it.
