Many of you know this already but Casa Cayena has change their name to Hotel Sosua Sunrise

They recently sent out a newsletter which I have copied below explaining the change

Note the new email address for contact sosuasunrise@claro.net.do

But the old one still works for the time being

Nice to see Wilfried and the staff continue on as in the past.

Wilfried's Newsletter
Casa Cayena Hotel
now Hotel Sosua Sunrise
SPRING 2016

Greetings from the Sosua Sunrise

Yes you have read correctly, after more then 30 years with the name "Casa Cayena" it is time for a change.

As all of you know, change is sometimes difficult and there are usually a number of factors that have contributed to it.

Our situation is no different, we are making this change now because we wish to and also because it is necessary.

Over the next several weeks you will see Hotel Sosua Sunrise on the front of the building, on the web-page of the hotel, on facebook and yes even on trip advisor.

But the only change you will see is the name! The hotel continues to operate in the same building with the same people and the same management. Nothing has changed other then the hotel name.

Along with the name we have updated the email address to "sosuasunrise@claro.net.do". Both email names (old and new) currently function.

Everything else REMAINS THE SAME.

We will notify you of the timing of changes in subsequent newsletters or you will notice them as we redirect to the new name over the next several weeks.

We will issue an update in a few weeks as we progress through our checklist.

Talking about;
"Trip Advisor" we can now report that we have 294 reviews and with your support we are now tied for #3 rank in Sosua (with with over 269 very good and excellent ratings) and we want to thank you all for your participation. We appreciate you all taking the time to provide feedback on your stay. We are able to quickly address any issues you report and your good experiences help other travelers in their selection.

Don't delay!

Tell your friends, and book your group for a stay at the Sosua Sunrise Casa Cayena, the place in Sosua where friends meet to relax.
-- Wilfried

Europa and Rockys are numbers 9 and 10. Just sayin!

After the petty BS the previous owners pulled, keeping the old website alive and kicking would-be customers over to the Europa ... I think it's a smart move for Wilfried to re-name the place. "Only the name is changed, to protect the ... ah, wait a minute, Friday, we're talking about Sosua. There ain't anything 'innocent' about those chicas."

On edit - they were kicking the customers to the New Garden. Thanks to ezsmile for pointing this out.

My mistake, it WAS the New Garden. Adding a correction to my previous post.

Does anyone know Wilfried's personal health status? A friend recently returned and said that during his 11 day stay he never saw Wilfried. Normally he would come by to greet everyone in the restaurant every morning. Apparently he had some sort of reversal following his hip surgery. He had said shortly after the surgery that he thought all was well. I hope whatever the issue is resolves itself in Wilfried's favor.

I have not seen Wilfried in at least 5 months. I don't think he's in town.

After his surgery he setup in a place on the 4th floor of Casa Cayena.
He was relying on his staff pretty heavily to take care of things on a day to day basis.

At least October-December he was there pretty much every day but you didn't see him

Not sure of his status currently but he did come out with the spring newsletter on March 4.
I assume he is the one that prepares that letter but possibly not.

I was always impressed that he would take the time to greet the guests at the hotel and how often he remembered many of the guests names.
He seems like a pretty nice guy and it was tough to see him suffering with so much pain.

I have emailed Wilfried 6-7 times over the past 2 weeks about reservations and information for my August trip with 4 friends. He has responded within 2 hours each time. I choose to take that as a good sign, especially considering how long it takes some healthy people, here in the US, to respond to their emails!

I certainly wish him a speedy and complete recovery..

I'm upstairs in the Penthouse and do my work.
Can still say Hello to everybody.
Last week came back from another surgery, because my new hip popped out once more.
When you come upstairs for a visit you are always welcome guys.

The only change we made is the Name.

Everything else is still the same.

April 10th will be a celebration.
