These were taken a few weeks ago. There are walls going up inside. I will post new pictures soon.

And another one bites the dust.
I wondered if Peter had only kept the original theme, the laid back Passions, where the setting was much more relaxed and easy going, if it would still be there and he would have avoided all the problems he would eventually go through.
Once the "Las Vegas" upgrade happened with all the glitz and glitter, I think he made himself a bigger target for any potential problems with the authorities.
Guess a new business will emerge from this rubble soon.
The same guys open a business, get shut down hard....they go through this multiple times. Does anyone else wonder why they don't move on and open somewhere else. What is the fascination with Sosua?

I saw a video showing Rumba was able to reopen. That seems like some progress out there... Anyone been there yet?

.
I heard someone talking about a video but don't think it was current.
Where did you see the video posted at?
Not sure as things change quickly there as you well know but I don't think it is back open.
There would be alot more chatter about it if it was.

What is the fascination with Sosua? They are ex-pats and their business is prostitution. They would not be accepted in most other locations.

Expats would never be allowed to open on their own in other locations, unless they have a Dominican partner that would have 60% or more ownership....:icontd:

Just an FYI, the original post was about the Passions in Santiago closing, not Sosua.
That was a nice place back in 2001-2005.

I often wondered the same thing. I loved Passions when it was a grass roofed, wooden table bar that had hole in a wall little kitchen that you can some burger and finger food stuff. I hated when Peter changed it to a Miami styled neon light strip club from 1985 with the fish tank table top. I thought Crockett and Tubbs would be hanging around.

This. Plus the prices went up to pay for it all and you could no longer grope the girls.

Tell me about it. When Pete just took his salida and the girls worked out their own deal. Place was off the hook. Chicks would leave on the cheap just to take a break from the monotony of suiting there bored at the bar. Yes, those were the days.

The Straw broke the camel's back when they got rid of the massage for 500 pesos.

Free Advice. If you are not dominican, keep out of the hoe business in DR. If you are Dominican and want to run a hoe business, keep it low profile.
There still is a passions type place in Sosua. It is close to Playa Laguna. It is run bu the same guy who had the spot behind Janet Supermarket in Cabarete. I went by there in December and could barely find the spot. It looks like a little open air restaurant from the outside. Inside, they had MANY top notch chicas.

You might want to consider changing your signature line since I assume it is no longer accurate.
