02/2018 - MY DIGS WHILE IN SOSUA,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

These are just a few shots of the apartment I stayed in on my recent visit back to the SU,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

It is called Villa Morales,,,,,

It is not your normal "fancy " Villa,,,,,

This was my second time staying at this location,,,,,,,

The first time was last year,,,,,when I stayed upstairs in what is called Apartment Wendy,,,,,

It was nice,,,,,But this year I stayed in the Poolside 2 bedroom apartment called Wendy's Poolhouse,,,,which was being built last year,,,,,

I love the location ,,as it a 5-7 minute walk down a hill to the strip,,,,,which you will see in the pics,,,,,

When you leave the property,,,,,and get on the street,,,,,You can see the top of Merengue/Classicos as you walk,,,,

When you get to the bottom of the street,,,,,the police station and playero are on the left,,,,

and the gas station is across the street on your right,,,,

Cross the main road,,and you are on the strip,,,,,,,,,,,

At night,,if you don't want to make the walk back from the strip,,,,,,

It is a 30 second moto,,,,,,,:rolleyes:

The poolside apartment has 2 bedrooms with brand new AC's,,,

big living room with 55' HD TV,,,

Good size ,,well stocked kitchen,,,,,,microwave,,,toaster,,,and coffee maker,,,

Pool 10 feet from your backdoor,,,,

Big bathroom with Jacuzzi Tub/ shower

I paid $75 a night ,,,,,,

The rates may vary,,,,,but I could talk to him to see if I could get you a better rate ,,,,,

For me,,,,,i would much rather pay a little more for something this big and relaxing then pay for a cubicle of a room at a hotel,,,,,,

Wake up and make a pot of coffee,,, then go out and sit by the pool,,,,,

Or spend the day at the beach,,,,then come back and relax by the pool,,,,,

Also,, I like being able to come and go as I please without having to walk by a front desk,,or a security guard,,,,,

You can come and go all day long with 1 chica,,2 chicas,,,,or bring 10 back for a pool party,,,,,,,


If you and your wing wanted to split the price,,,that would work,,,,,but might be a little tight,,,,,

Looks great, just a few questions. Is the upstairs a 1 bedroom, I don't really need 2, and if so, what's the rate for that one?
If there's no security, is there a gate you have a key for, or can people just walk on in?
Finally, is the area well lit, or is it dark at night, my feeling is while you're trying to open a gate in a dark area, people have been know to get pickpocketed or
just plain jumped. Most people may think twice about fucking with you, but my kung fu is not that strong. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Well,,,When I stayed upstairs last year,,,it was a one bedroom,,,,

Aparently he renovated it, and turned it into a two bedroom,,,,,,

I think they are both listed for the same price of $85 a night,,,,,,

But,, like I said , I could contact him too see if he would lower that to $75,,,,,

For me,,,,I would prefer the poolside one I stayed in this year,,,,,


As for the lighting and the gate,,,,,,,,,

Yes there is a gate, which has a big lock and chain on it,,,,,

The key to the lock is also the key to your door,,,,,

In my 9 days there, I never locked the gate,,,,,

Only one time when returning from the strip one night was it locked,,,and I didn't like that ,,,,:rolleyes:

most nights the chain was wrapped around the closed doors,, but the lock was not locked,,,,,

The location too me did not feel unsafe,,,,,,

It is basically in between The Tropix Hotel,,,,,and the entrance to Hispanola on the right,,,,,,

But yes,,,,,it is a little dark,,,,,,,

Yes,,there is a safe in the other bedroom,,,,,not the "master" bedroom

Keeping in mind that some may prefer this bedroom over the so called master bedroom,,,

as it is closer to the pool,,,,

The master bedroom is closer to the street,,,so sometimes you can hear a truck or moto go by,,,,

but the street is generally quiet,,,,

I believe the master bedroom is a king or queen bed,,,,

whereas the other bedroom is a full size,,,,,

He lists his 2 apartments strictly on Tripadvisor,,,,,,,

If you go into Tripadvisor and click on Sosua,,,,

then click on vacation rentals,, you usually see them,,,,

Under Apartment Wendy,,,,,,And Wendys poolhouse,,,,

or you can set the filters to vacation rentals between $ 0 -$100,,,,,,,,

The only thing is ,,the prices are higher on here sometimes,,,,,

Bailar is staying in Sosua for 3 nights next week,,,,,

on Tripadvisor the price for those 3 nights is $85 per,,,,And $257 Total,,,,,

I contacted the owner last night,,and he agreed to lower the price to $75 a night and $225 total,,,,,,:iconTU:

Yeah,, the bathroom is good size,,,,,

probably just under the size of a room at Hotel Rancho,,,,,,

The walk may be just around the same length from Europa,,,or a little less,,,,

I could usually get to Brittania in about 6-7 minutes,,,,,

with a mix of sun and some shade from trees,,,,,

I really like the spot its in,,,,especially close to playero as well,,,,,

As you see in this picture,,,

The owner and his wife live on the property,,,,,

His entrance is behind there car,,under the canopy

But you really don't see him that much,,,,,

They are very nice and helpful,,,,,,

she does all the cleaning,and supplying of the towels and stuff,,,,,

If your there for a week or longer,,she will leave you enough extra towels for about 3 days,,,,,



Then when you go out during the day ,,she will come in and clean the place about every 2 or 3 days,,,,,

restocking the towels and toilet paper and stuff,,,,,

He has cancer,, and goes for treatment often,,,,,

while they are not there ,,,they have a older guy that comes in and keeps an eye on the place when they are not there,,,,

THey also have a guard dog who looks the part,,,and will bark,,,,

but as soon as he gets to know you he just barks and walks away ,,,,

they also have a couple little dogs there as well,,,,

but the owners are helpful without being in your face ,,,,,,,,

I hardly ever saw them the whole time I was there,,,,,

Unfortunately I recieved some bad news Friday.

My friend and owner of this property Nelson Morales passed away on 5/24/19,,,,

I recieved a whatsapp from his account telling me this,,,,(PROBABLY HIS WIFE)

and then his account was closed down.

So it appears I lost a friend and my go to place when staying in Sosua,,,,,,

I really dont think his wife can handle everything that goes along with renting out the properties,,,,

She more or less handled the cleaning and stocking of towels and supplies,,,,,

Nelson was a great guy who always took good care of me ,,,,,,

And although he really loved to talk,,,,,,he always gave me my space,,,,,

He always greeted me with a enthusiatic " BIG D,,,WHATS UP "

He always seemed to keep a positive attitude despite his fight against cancer....

RIP my friend,,,,,,,,
