October 2020 is coming up sooner than you think. For USA guys who want to jump to Vegas or anywhere domestic with just your license you need a REAL ID by oct 2020...

That is a star in your license. I dont have it. When I renewed my license my SS birth date was all fucked up...long story...

Anyway I am going to try and straighten it out so I can get a license with star..I will see if my AAA can do it....

I renewed mine last year early and got it taken care of a year early

I hated my picture as it was old so I wanted a new one anyway

I just took my passport into the DMV as proof and it was a fairly easy process.

Most trips are on a passport as well but it's good to know I am all set with the real ID as well.

I also have a passport card to which is handy for trips to Canada

It can be a nightmare to here in NC. My aunt went on one of the days advertised as Express and it took four hours. Also if your name doesn't match your exact birth certificate, you need to provide a court document showing this. Nightmare for married folks, my aunt had to drive to VA to get what they required. Check your state laws everybody and be prepared, or just do the passport.

AAA? Wonder if that is only in certain states. Not sure if I can do it through AAA in NC.

Do you do any domestic traveling (flights) in the United States?

It's a few years since I've made an all-domestic flight -- to California, for the Quiet Birdmen's national get-together in 2015.

The driver's license I got in 2016 has a REAL ID star on it.

I think you have to show up in person in order to get the Real ID because they want you to be able to prove you are you say you are.

Lucky for you it can be done at a AAA location per Hunter's link
