I was looking for some good information.. By the way this Forum is the coolest thing since AC. Looks like I found the right spot.
So here we go...A very good 55 year old friend of mine wife won't have sex with him anymore, so he called me and asked if I would take him on one of my special 'fishing' trips.
I said no problem and started doing some research..Looks like the DR is the best place for numerous catch and releases!!
We are coming down (yes these times suck don't ask why) landing in Santiago Airport (STI) super late around 1:59 am local.. I figured that was a little late to be traveling to Sousa via a rent car where we hope to spend 6 days or so.. Was wondering you guys thoughts on staying in Santiago for one night (and where) versus driving that night to Sousa? Also, I needed to start my guy off right when we land...
Finally I read that it would definitely been in my best interest to access the Trip Reports from the DR?

You might as well spend the night in Santiago.

For a couple reasons

1. Arriving at 2am you won't be on the road much before 3am at the earliest which means you won't hit Sosua until 4:30 or 5:00am and not much activity going on at that hour other than maybe the casino.

2. Driving in the DR at night is not recommended even for the seasoned traveler so not a good idea for someone to attempt that has never been here before. The DR is not Kansas.

Get yourself a subscription and do some reading and I think that will help you out alot.

Maybe skip the car rental all together. Take the bus, it's nice....and you don't have to worry about the driving. It's definitely a different experience driving down there. After you get to Sosua, you won't need a car. Everything is within walking distance. And plenty of ways to get around, if you choose to leave the town (which I doubt you will).

That makes perfect since..I have still been waiting for Jimmy to grant me access to the trip reports so I can read more sound advice like yours. Guess he is on of town.. Only 30 days until our trip..Sounds like two things. 1. Its the slow season. 2. The policy are cracking down on hood rats.. Dang

Sometimes I would stay in a Cabana.

There were clubs open to 4am but its been 13 years since I been there.

Thanks DR.. I appreciate your recommendations. I have been going through TR relentlessly and would like yours and all others feedback/recommendations if possible. I do apologize because with all the questions you can tell obviously this is my first trip here..

(Again the Friend I am bringing does not have money problems).
1. If I arrive in Santiago at 2am.. Could I catch a taxi or bus to Sousa at this time? (Just feel like I am loosing a day if i stay in Santiago)
If not or bad idea where do you guys recommend I stay in Santiago?
I have heard Hotel Los Jardines is a good choice?

2. Also what are the hotel recommendations for Sousa? I have read the following: (This should show that I have been digging in the forum with gloves off):
A. Alicia Beach Hotel
B. Sousa Inn
C. Some Kind of Villa (can't remember the name)
D. Casa Marina Beech and Reef Resort
E. Black Beards for a Day or So? (Get my older friends confidence up first)
F. Any Other I have overlooked?

3. If taking a iPhone is a bad idea what do I do for one down there? Of do I just take Ipad with me and keep locked in room?

4. Jimmy mentioned Boca Chica..Should I just scrap Sousa all together and head south instead of North?

Hunter
07-26-2019, 02:24 PM
I would only do Sosua....Sosua WAY bigger scene....Beach better. That is where you want to be first trip.

If money is no issue, grab a txi to Boca and check into the Garant. Its a smaller town and you will know it in a few days.

You want the security of the hotel where they will check Ids. With a Villa, bad elements can find a way into a rookie's Villa.

I have been a few places...Africa, Portugal, Spain, Tons of Spots in Mexico--good and bad parts (being from Texas), Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos etc..
Funny I was in Mazatlan, MX when they arrested El Chapo in that codo tower..I was in a nearby Hotel and didn't know what in the world was going on..

Yes to say the least..Always had fun in Mexico..Its a shame the Narcos got the country so messed up.

May I ask the reason you like Boca Chica so Much? Does it have places for my older friend and myself to meet girls....Or does this town work for you because what I have been reading you are a master Monger who has so much local connections..You do have to hit the streets no more? LMAO

Not sure how old you are but I am 56.

I walk out the Hotel Garant and the strip is a block away.

Its 20 minutes from the airport.

The stipe is closed to car traffic from 6PM - 1AM.

Many of the girls live locally so more friends are a call away.

Its funny you sent that because I was already reading that trip report when you sent the email..Looks like you guys had a fun boat ride..
I am 42 but my friend is 55 or so.. He is pretty easy to travel with though and does not complain about anything.
What would you say the contrasts between Sousa and Boca are? I know this is not a actual fishing site but we kind of planned on doing a bit of actual offshore fishing. I have fished for Marlin all over the world..I know that Punta Cana (I have not been) but is kind of the hub for this kind of excursion..
I used to do some monthly sail-fishing excursions in Mazatlan,MX that looked like a Biggie Smalls video-- Me and 4 girls on the boat for the whole day etc..
Again I do appreciate your expertise in these matters!

In 1997 Boca was a dump so I moved over to Sosua. After 10 years Sosua slipped in my experience and Yayow an ex Pat who lives in Boca got me back there and it reminded me of the old Sosua.

In my opinion.

Ok, I like what I am seeing from Boca for sure...so you mentioned the ride from the airport..
Remember, I thought Sousa was going to be the place I needed to be...So flight our flight is booked to Santiago Not Santo Domingo..Instead of 2 hours it will be 3 hours..Do you still feel the is do-able? If so leave that night when we get in to STI or stay in Santiago? Also, is getting a rental car to much of a pain for this? Looks like Frio Hot is on point too.

Last trip I was bumped on Delta, flew into Santiago and took the taxi to Boca Chica.

If you choose Boca, go onto Booking.com and reserve the Garant.

There are easily 20 times more girls in Sosua than Boca......You want to go to Sosua....trust me.....Boca and the capital are more for vets who have burned out on Sosua...But Sosua is still so much more a monger location.....First timers to DR - Sosua...Even Yayow who lives in Boca will say that....

Greydread has stayed there, too. And I did, my last trip to Boca Chica last year, on Grey's recommendation.

It has a good, busy restaurant and coffee-shop, which is a plus. But for the room and the pool, I prefer the Garant.

Anyway.. Good to see the thread finally blow up while I was gone..It is nice to hear others perspective.. However Jimmy is 100% right..I am not a Newbi just New to the Dominican. Currently I have 3+ (not gloating in any manner) that will fuck at the drop of the hat here at home...
So like Iverson said we Talking about "Practice"..
And let's be honest what is my middle age older friend really going to do? I would rather put him on a dime (also so it makes me look like the king pimp) than some fat hoe that just wants to smother him with a fat role for 30 bucks. I am personally more into skinny girls than big girls..
So with that being said can others comment that Boca is quality and Sousa is Quantity?

Also what was hunter talking about---August 23-28 Boca...Book your ticket....Indy miss you....????

Hunter is going to Boca and was telling Jimmy to book his. Indy is a chica

j_d66

You can find quality both places.

Boca is close to Santo Domingo so you might be able to get some of those girls to come over to Boca and there are always girls around

There is quality in Sosua as well it just depends on what you are looking for in a girl.

True that the strip is not what it used to be but there are still plenty of great girls in Sosua to.

and both places have the street rats.

I am primarily a flacca lover and still have no trouble finding plenty of them to suit my fancy

I would say that it is a little easier in Sousa but since this is all new to your friend either place will likely have him all smiles.

Just take the steps to secure your stuff both places and have the time of his life.

With your experience your first trip should be excellant.

Ok, sounds good.. Columbia looks like my kind of place..
As per the Trip Reports and your recommendation..:
I got the WhatsApp and did some research about cab rides. After contacting them, looks like for 5,500 DP they will take us to Boca.
I messaged and looked on FB for phone numbers of 4 different cab companies at or near Santiago or so and looks like it was close to the right amount ranging from 5500-6000 DP..
So I have several cab companies for this 3am departure and as complete failure/ backup I found Metro will go from Santiago to Santo Domingo for like 10 bucks leaving at 05:45 am. So I feel comfortable about getting to Boca Now.

Final Question:
I see everyone talk about Happy Hour in the Forum?? Are they just referring to cheap drinks time period or is it something else I am missing?

Consider getting yourself a Schwab card.

One of the best recommendations I gleaned from this site.

Makes exchanging your money painless and you always get market rate with no atm fees since they are refunded to you at the end of the month

Allows you access to cash pretty much anytime as long as you can find an atm

You likely can exchange some money at the airport even at that hour but the rate will not be the best there

It makes zero sense to fly into santiago and go to Boca....why would you do that?? Go to Sosua or stay in Santiago and then Sousua....

You are traveling somewhere with 10% of girls of Sosua....

lol..I will be there in Boca...but I fly into SDQ and split my trip between boca and sosua...5 and 5 days...

If you are crazy enough to come I will be around....But I still say Sosua is where you want to be. Beach is better and 10-20 times amount of girls....

If your set on Boca than fly into Santo Domingo as it will be easier.

Are you committed to flying into Santiago already meaning you have already bought your tickets?

Sosua is probably a little better for a first time traveler.

Don't pay much attention to the noise about Sosua not being what it was. Sosua will still be way more than what your friend has ever experienced

Your timing of the trip being Thursday through Tuesday is suited well for Sosua as Friday and Saturday will be the busiest but there will still be plenty of girls around regardless just more on the weekend this time of year

i didn't fly there for her Jimmy. I had no idea she even existed prior to coming and neither did Hunter she just showed up along with Hunters date.

I just decided to tag along and entertain her for the night. Turned out she was a pretty fun girl and was good in the sack to. I had no regrets going with her other than I ended up pissing off another girl that i was suppose to hang out with that night but she is over it and I will take care of her the next time i am there.

I like my girls flacca for the most part but sometimes a fluffy girl is a good change of pace.

And don't misunderstand she was more curvy than fat and had a pretty nice back side and really nice titties. She wasn't trash by any means.
Her performance in the sack was on point

Boca chica has girls around all week long.

Right. at this point the numbers of girls is likely going to be pretty similar in both places.

There no doubt is girls that normally would be making their way to Sosua that are staying away due to the fear of being harassed by the policia

What amazes me is just how many girls live in the Sousa area that are available and you never hardly see them on the strip and that is happening even more right now.

The reality is that with a early am arrival neither place is going to have very much available action before the afternoon anyway

And they are going to be there such a short time it really doesn't matter to much where they go

LOL We screwed poor Tex over!!

Here are my thoughts,

Go to Sosua. Its where I started, I primarily go to Boca now (MDE is next). For your friends first time he needs to see Classicos on a weekend at least once. Install WhatsApp on your phone, get chica numbers. Call them the next day to come over, that way you can pay less for the good ones. Install Tinder and try to do some pre-gaming. If you get the paid version you can use it in a different city than where you live. Might be able to line up some girls ahead of time. Same with Facebook. For hotels, the New Garden is great for the party atmosphere. Your friend might enjoy that as its his first time. I have also heard great things about Sousia Inn and Europa is a good option (its right in the middle of the strip)

On Blackbeards,
On their website, subscribe to their newsletter. I definitely think you should go. I would start out there in the middle of the week and then move to Sosua on the weekend. Take a girl in the jacuzzi, its only 700 DP if you don't leche and they will include it for free if you end up taking the girl. Last time I was at Barbara Negra, I took 4 in there and let them audition. You'd be pleased at how determined they can be. At the end, all it cost me was the 2100 DOP for the 3 I didn't take. When you get the newsletter, you can follow the instructions to get the more specific information on costs and chicas. I would try Valeria and Cielo. You are not a newbie at all (at mongering) so you don't need Blackbeards but I think it would help your friend. Plus, there are some smoking girls there and less chance of a dud. Have fun and report back! and LOL at Hunter and Jimmy

Another thing...The beach in Sosua is 1000 times better than boca. White sand...100 beach stalls...Girls walking up and down...Real Party atmoshpere...

Boca is crickets on beach....sand sucks...water is in a bay and dirty....

lol...just remember you cant win arguments with Jimmy...I have tried and never won...you just say I give up....lol...

You should go to the main beach at the end with all the Stalls.

Its a 15 minute walk from New Garden.

I had asked earlier to I can make the final decision soon..
Previous post:
2. Also what are the hotel recommendations for Sousa? I have read the following: (This should show that I have been digging in the forum with gloves off):
A. Alicia Beach Hotel I used to stay there often but not since Wilifred left. The location is pretty good but I wouldn't pay more than $50 to stay there
B. Sousa Inn One of the newer places in town. I think Hunter liked it except it can be noisy. Think they are pushing about $100 a night right now
C. Some Kind of Villa (can't remember the name)
D. Casa Marina Beech and Reef Resort You wont want to stay here since it is an AI and it is not chica friendly
E. Black Beards for a Day or So? (Get my older friends confidence up first) Your only in town a short time so no more than 1 night here but not really needed as the confidence will come quickly
F. Any Other I have overlooked?--Garden Something..

Kinda depends on what your budget for rooms is.

Las Palmeras is close to the strip and not to bad but the wifi is not the best in all of the rooms. the manager is a nice guy.
New Garden is ok but mostly newbies and WW types stay there now but not a bad place
Casa Valeria is pretty nice now. it has been re done and runs about 75 a night. I dont hear to many complaints about it
I normally stay at Europa. It is somewhat older but the rooms are big and its in a pretty good area of town about 5 minutes to the strip

Anton Reef is also pretty new and not to bad a place and is close to the strip. Pretty sure it is chica friendly

Hotel D Piero about 15 minutes from the strip but also a pretty nice place
Ahnvee is a ways from the strip but they have cut their rates big time right now.

Thanks JD I knew I was remembering wrong. Substitute Las Palmaras for Europa, that's the one I was thinking of right on the strip with Obie. I have heard they made some improvements as well. Noise is the main issue from what I understand.

Alicia used to be a pretty nice beach. it is really quiet and not many people go there. It's not as nice now as the last hurricane took much of the beach away. Interesting that it was a storm that put that beach there in the first place

That's what it was like in 2015. Not as much sand there now.

Casa Reef I assume is the beach at Casa Marina. i don't think you can get access to it unless you stay there. I think much of that beach was destroyed in the storm last year to

Playa Sosua is where you will want to go.

its a pretty nice beach with lots of little huts to enjoy food and a cold drink. You can enjoy the sand and the water and the chicas walking by. Very easy to find and afternoon delight at the beach

The far end used to be the nice part of the beach but that same storm last year took much of the sand and re deposited it at the other end of the beach now.

It will be where you want to go should you decide to settle on Sosua

Noise doesn't bother me much but if noise is a factor than Las Palmaras might not be the best choice.

My complaint is the wifi sucks in the far building. Something they could solve with less than $100 of equipment.

The other odd thing is the beds on that side are shorter than normal.

My chica the last trip complained there were to many mosquitos getting in the room but that happens elsewhere to.

Not sure what changes they made as it looked the same a couple weeks ago when I was in town but I do remember they were doing some kind of construction work earlier in the year

Have fun and report back! and LOL at Hunter and Jimmy Thanks Minky

the only place that is right next to sosua playa is Hotel Bellamar but I dont think you will like staying there. There have been several reports lately of it not being chica friendly.

Any of those places I talked about other than Ahnvee and D Perio are going to be no more than a 5-10 minute walk to the beach and its and easy walk so being right on the beach is not all that important.

If you don't want to walk than take a moto for 50-100 RD one way

It really comes down to how much you want to spend per night.

Of the hotels mentioned Sosua Inn has probably the nicest rooms since it is the newest but it also is the most expensive.

I do see they only allow guests who are at least 19 so if wanting a 18 year old matters that could be an issue. I know of no other place that doesn't accept 18 year olds.
The reality is that is not much of an issue since there aren't that many 18 year olds to choose from anyway

I was totally lost my first trip there
My first trip there I stayed at New Garden.
I went to the store to get supplies and took the route passed Baliees to the Playero.

On the way back I decided to take Pedro Clisante back along the "strip"

but I walked right passed Dr Rosen which is where New Garden is at.

By the time I got to Europa I new I was lost and had to take a moto to find my way back to New Garden.

I chuckle at that now.

Sosua really isn't all that big but when you don't know where stuff is it can be huge

It took me another day to find the beach since if you don't know the road to take it is not easy to find.

It took me at least another day of walking around to find Passions but I finally did.

Good memories of that trip. I still go back and read that report from time to time just to remind myself of how much I didn't know

We use to grab a van to Puerto Plata in 2001-2004 for $24. It stayed with us and brought us back.

We hit Crystals and when the peso was over 50, the chicas were $40 for all night.

There were 40 or 50 of them.

There was El Boem, as well, and there were shacks along the water with cute street rats for maybe $30 - $40 all night.

Hunting could take all night.

Yes Passions is long gone along with CMP. It was a fun place to go and helped to control the market price for pussy

The girls on the beach are very easy to approach.

Sunday is family day so you will see alot of families and teens there so make sure you are aware of the age of the girl you might be approaching

I would say for the most part most of the legal girls along the beach or working are available for the most part. If you see one you like chat her up and see where it leads.

Finally I read that it would definitely been in my best interest to access the Trip Reports from the DR?When is your planned trip to Sosua? I will be arriving in Sosua mid September and will be there until June (hopefully)and would be glad to show you around, been going to Sosua for 15 years.

My recommendation for you and your friend is Sosua, with maybe a day at Blackbeards to get your friend into it. I live in Boca Chica and have been for about 7 years now even used to have a bar there.

Yes I do say that!

Your first instinct is usually right. LOL. Go to sosua. a short ride, if you go by taxi should take around 1.5 hours. I'll send you a message for a place to stay.

<adding 2 cents>

Never been to Boca but heard enough to keep me happy with Sosua.

One thing to think seriously about is noise.
I've stayed at New Garden, great free breakfast, okay rooms, annoying listening to Weekend Warriors talkin of their "activities".
Sosua Inn is in a noisy area, not sure how quiet the rooms are. Seem to be well reviewed but pricier than most places.
Casa Valeria & Las Palmeras would also have noise issues in some rooms as well.

Most places closer to Pedro Clisante/DR Rosen area are noisy because you are close to the action which also means shorter trip back to the room.

Europa & D'Piero are further out and also quieter. Also generally cheaper.

If you don't mind the noise of moto's, car alarms, drunken warriors at almost all hours then stay close to the beach. That being said I never had a noise issue at New Garden, mind you it poured the whole week so it was dead.

Are there fat chicas in Sosua, absolutely. Have I ever had to go with one? Never! There are plenty of young flacca chicas around as well.

Classico's is a pale shadow of what it used to be but still busy, haven't gone upstairs in many years I just check Merengue's downstairs before it opens.

The main reason Sosua is for me is Playa Sosua and hanging with all the board members I've met over the years. Bangin' chicas is only part of the day, gotta fill the rest up somehow.

Sitting on the beach, drinking a presidente, shooting the breeze with friends, watching the girls go by......... works for me.

I'm sure you'll have fun whichever you choose and your friend may end up in divorce court once he see's the other side!

Good luck and enjoy.

I'm BACK!! I have been trying to get these fucking deals to close to pay for these hoes..

Ok, your a newbie to DR.

Jimmy doesn't care where you go. He just prefers to Boca over Sosua.

Most get burned out on Sosua after awhile and want to try someplace different and Boca is a decent option.

Just remain involved and tell us all about your experiences where ever you go good bad or indifferent

Not burned out at all.

The clubs of Puerto Plata are all gone. We would go a few times every trip.

Franks Place came and went.

The shacks where you could get some interesting chicas in POP, gone.

Passions came and went.

If I had to come up with a word, Bored, not burned out. Sosua is a very boring place for me.

Its like trying to explain to younger NY guys that back in the 1990's, you can go out and see 1,000 girls walking around 10 different zones in NYC. Today, if there are 5 out, that would be a very big night.

I tend to get bored in Sosua as well now but I don't stay more than a week anymore.

Last trip I did a combo of 5 days in Negril and 5 days in Sosua.

it worked out pretty good

I might throw up a trip report about it at some point but did some different things in Sosua that I have not done in awhile like a trip to the country and spent some time at the River a locals type of place and hung out in Charmicos to.

Been finding some great chicas online that live in the area but don't really frequent the strip to much so it keeps me interested.

There is no shortage of chicas there

The only way i would do 14 days in the DR anymore is if I was going more than one place. I would get bored in Boca to 14 days straight but at least there you can easily go to Santo Domingo if you want.

Even 14 days in Negril is to long for me.

I might do the combo Negril and Sosua trip again over 2 weeks. I also have some interest in going to Kingston

Now when I go to Thailand it will always be at least 2 weeks.

Maybe just book a hotel for a night or two, then if you like it, stay. If not, you'll have time to check out other hotels. It's low season, so you shouldn't have a problem finding a couple dozen hotels with a vacancy. I'm getting the idea that you're thinking "first world" hotel in a "third world" country. You're wanting to take a taxi from Santiago right from the airport, arriving in Sosua in the middle of the night. These places don't have people on staff at that time to check you in. Usually only security guards. If this is the way you're going to do it, you'll need to specify with the hotel what time you're arriving and see if they can accommodate you.

Sosua Inn is a good choice if you don't mind spending a little more. It's a great location right behind Baileys.
New Garden, also a good location for new people in town.
Terra Linda, some here don't like it as they tend to not cater to mongers, but it's chica friendly and great location.
Sosua suites condos is my choice of places, mostly because I've become good friends with Kelsey, but it's right on top of the action.

I believe it was heavily damaged in that storm.

My understanding is that it is now under new management but needs some major renovations.

The pictures pretty much show the place is old.

And the most recent reviews are not all that good. You can go check it out when you are there but if it was me I would steer clear of the place for this trip.

It might look like it is on the water which technically it is but there is no real beach there and its a longer walk to the strip than some other places

If if you are flying into Santiago there is absolutely no reason to go to Boca Chica. If you were flying into The Capital then yes. Check out BC and the head to the Su.

Especially for a first timer in DR. Go to Sosua and hang out on Sosua Beach all day and the strip at night. You and your “old man friend” will find all you want. Big and small. I am a Flacco lover and have no problems in the Su. Day or night.

What Hunter said, and Tiger, too.

And honestly, as Minkyboodle said a couple of pages up, start with a night or two at Blackbeard's.

You've said from the start that your friend is new to the Monger Games. I think it would help him if he could start out at a relaxed, semi-private, resort-like place with a good kitchen and a couple of good bars, where the girls are all vetted and approved, the prices are defined, and the chances of drama and misunderstandings are minimized by the management. It's a fun place, and some of us say it's "the petting zoo" next to the "jungle" of Sosua.

My first visit to the DR was direct to Blackbeard's. I had a great time, and I definitely recommend it.

I have only been to blackbeards once, for an afternoon, so cant say what it is really like, but if you are starting your trip on august 21, that is a wednesday, and right now it will be fairly slow in Sosua until Friday. Blackbeards sounds like a good wednesday - thursday night option. There is a pretty nice beach there too. And it is maybe 3/4 way(?) Between Santiago and Sosua

Edit: I suspect that blackbeards could even arrange to have one of the taxis that they know pick you up and drive you to the hotel. Thereby reducing some confusion and increasing your safety for your first trip inside the country. Dont know if there is extra cost to that though.

Depends on the girl and the nationality. Regular Dominican hardcores ask for 2500 or 3000 pesos and up for ST and above 4000 or 5000 for a night. Hell No!

I've had girls give minimums of 2000 and 2500 for ST. Some for 3500 for a night. NEXT!!

THAT BEING SAID....... I've rarely paid above 1500 to 2000 for a ST. 2500 to 3000 for an all-night with morning session.

If you ask how much, you will get the first range. You tell the girl what you want to pay and you may get the last range.
It will all depend on your comfort level, how badly you want the chica and how much they smell your "newness".
This is slow season so prices should be low end of the range, but Dominican mentality can get them asking more per session, just a crap shoot.

Worst price quoted ever..... $800US, still chuckle at that. Didn't ask if it was ST or LT.

Above all, always make sure you communicate what you expect in a session (BBBJ, etc) to try reduce the "games" in the room.

Was in Sosua last weekend.
I prefer to stay at Hotel Alicia Beach because its a little quieter and I value my sleep the older I get. New Garden and Sosua Suites are also great choices.
Lots of talent the three nights I was there.
Lots of big booty in Spandex but if you can see around them, you will spot a lot of flacas too. Good news is there is less competition for the flacas.
Had a great time and some amazing pickups. If El Toro from the board is still around, send him a PM. Great guy and will help you navigate.

I would say that's a pretty good representation of what you are going to find at Blackbeards
Not all of those girls will be there as they come and go all the time but it's a good bet that some of them will be there or something similar.

Blackbeards has had a pretty good reputation for quite some time. It's just that after a couple days your likely to get bored and want to try something new.

If you decide to make it part of your trip I wouldn't stay more than one night since you are only in country for a few days.

Or even better hire a driver to take you there and go spend an afternoon having some fun.

Welcome texcowboy, do you realize you have been the inspiration for an 11 page, and still going, newbie thread?

Unheard of around here. Usually a few posts in and the new guy is gone.

You have received great advice and recommendations and as XXX mentioned awhile back, you've asked questions in a polite manner, unlike so many others, and look at the feedback you've got? A great exchange of questions and answers.

Maybe it's too late for this if you already have made reservations, but if not, due to the hour you are arriving plus the time it will take to clear immigration, change money, etc....as a first timer to the DR, plus having your buddy with you, please consider a night in Santiago to get some sleep first. Then a taxi to Sosua the next day.

Check out booking.com for the Aloha Sol Hotel near the monument in the central part of Santiago. Been several years, but I have stayed there on 2 or 3 occasions when in Santiago. You'll probably check in about 4-4:30 am, they do have a staffed reception desk, get your room, grab a hot shower and some shut eye. Maybe work out a late checkout, depart at 1 pm in a taxi, arrive by 2:30 pm in Sosua and right on time to check in at your hotel there.

DO NOT take a taxi at that hour for that drive. Just too many accidents. Maybe the taxi guy is a solid driver but it's always that other guy you need to worry about. Take that arrival night and get a good nights sleep then by that next afternoon, you both will be like a couple of young colts ready to kick down the barn door!

Your 55 year old buddy will suddenly feel as if he has discovered the fountain of youth as he takes that first walk on Sosua Beach. You guys will be looking to book your next trip before your current one is even over!

Check who's traveling to Sosua when you guys are there and maybe you can meet up somewhere for a beer and shoot the shit. A great way to learn some valuable do's and don'ts. I'd love to hear about some of your Mexico travels, as well as other spots you've visited in the past. Bet you have some great stories, and insight, that many of us would appreciate hearing.

Have a blast and when you return home, post a trip report to make sure Jimmy knows what he's been missing for a dozen years!

Guys have mentioned its slow there during the week. Well its never slow in Boca unless the guys going to Boca can't speak Spanish or walk up to just any chica.

Thats funny because as I sit in Boca Chica hanging with Yayow, he never once said, hey, lets go to Sosua. If he had, we all coul have got up and went there.

Too bad you never saw the Sosua from 2000-2005. Its a shadow of itself. That Sosua was off the chain.

In 11 years you can tell me what I am missing since my last trip to Boca Chica/DR was Feb 2018 with no plans of returning.:corky::corky::corky::corky:

Both Sosua AND Boca can be fun !!!!!,,,,

So now you have no plans to return to Boca anymore either? Just giving up on the DR for good?

Meddy is THAT good of a location to hang out that it satisfies all your wants and needs?

I just might have to catch a flight down there to check out the scene. Never been to SA before, so maybe that would be a good introduction to a new continent.

Thank you distantvoyeur! That makes a lot of sense..Especially after reading BlackBeard Rates and Policies.

The Policia natiionale were busy patrolling but didnt make a dent in the action.
Thank you CentralNJDude..I think we are going to settle on the itinerary recommendations of MrSmooth and others.
1. Hit the ground in Santiago.
2. Stay the Night at http://hotellosjardines.com.do/
Get some shut eye and be skip the midnight taxi ride for safety reasons..
3. Go To BlackBeards on Thursday/Thursday night and let my buddy get a 'for sure' warm up on these chicas..
4. Leave BlackBeards on Friday and head to Sousa/Sousa Beach stay at on of the three:
A. New Garden
B. Sousa Inn
C. Alicia Beach
This is the current plan..
Thanks again!

Thanks JD:

Thank you Mr.Smooth..I do like to ask a bunch of questions and I have been so lucky that others have been so willing to help out with their advice.

I am not an expert on Santiago to Blackbeards at night but way safer than that mountain road...And you would get laid by a chica waiting at pool that night...But overall Smooth is good advice..

Well I just talked with my buddy and if others are right:
Plane lands at 1:59 am.
1. Clear Customs
2. Exchange Money
3. Eat Breakfast
It appears it gets daylight at around 6:19 am or so..
We thought we could just sleep on the plane, and by the time complete steps one and two we could catch a ride to a good spot to have breakfast at..
Daylight comes and my buddies Cialis should be kicking in just in time for him to hit BlackBeards for a warm up..

Not talking about the room. I had one of the front 'balcony' rooms at Frio Hot -- I think it was the one above Greydread's room that he described on his Boca Chica TR.

I'm talking about The Strip, compared to Walking Street -- either Walking Street.

I recognize about half of the chicas photos from BB. They are real, but they have full make-up on which they always don't have. Those current pics are real as well as the newsletter photos. All photos on the newsletter were taken in the previous 2 week time prior. If you are staying at BB 1 night, be sure to make reservations there, as sometimes they are booked. They have upped the chica rates since I was there earlier this year.

Here is the latest snag I just received from BlackBeards: FK

Thank you for your interest in Blackbeards resort. We are sorry but due to the high demand for reservations during our event days and nights, ( Thursday, Friday and Saturday ), as well as numerous no shows, we can no longer accept one night reservations. We would like love to have you stay with us therefore, we offer these two alternatives:

Extend your one stay by one or more nights, either before or after your original reservation, and if we have those nights available, we will gladly accept your reservation.
Or, you can come to the hotel that day and if we have a room available, you are welcome to stay.

We hope you decide to join us!!Great Pirate Plunder!!….

As others have mentioned we planned on staying only Thursday night with a warm up then heading to Sousa for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and leaving Monday EVENING..
What are your thoughts on asking BlackBeards to Book Thursday and Sunday? (THEY MAY NOT EVEN DO THAT SINCE ITS NOT CONSECUTIVE?) BUT OTHERS HAVE SAID TWO THINGS:
1. DON'T STAY AT BLACKBEARDS FOR MORE THAN ONE DAY OR YOU WILL GET BORED
2. SOUSA AND SOUSA BEACH IS THE PLACE TO GO IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOUR WARM UP SESSIONS..
ANY ADVICE ON THIS MATTER WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED...

This is your first visit to the DR, your first time at Blackbeard's, and your travel-buddy's first Walk On The Wild Side, right?

You won't get bored staying two nights!!! Certainly not including Friday night!

If you're worried about "getting bored," you could spend Thursday morning checking out Santiago and head up to BB's after lunch. The first shift of 'shipmates' arrives around noon, IIRC; once you check in, they'll check you out, and they can be very cuddly about introducing themselves. You and your buddy will be prime candidates for some "Afternoon Delight," followed by "Show Your Colors" night in the Crows Nest bar/disco upstairs ... there's no need, of course, to go back to your bed alone, wink-wink, nudge-nudge.

Friday will be well-spent as "chill time," hanging out by the pool with plenty of nice eye-candy and a cold Presidente at hand, or strolling down to the beach, which you might have to yourself ... and after dinner, the Crows Nest will either have "Mardi Gras Night" with sexy costumes on the chicas, or their "Baby Doll Show" and raffle ... the winner gets a private dance with the 'shipmate' of his choice, and he keeps her babydoll as a souvenir. (You'll have to pay standard rates to "keep" the chica, but that's all right, eh?)

So I say, take Thursday and Friday, and head down to Sosua on Saturday. You'll have a great time ... your buddy will have a fantastic time ... and you'll both be primed and ready for the jungle that is 'the Su.'

That's my opinion, based on my first time at Blackbeard's, and that's my advice.

From BlackBeards:

Ahoy Pirates, Dominican Tourism Concerns

We have received numerous inquiries regarding some past problems with tourists visiting the Dominican Republic as well as the shooting of a famous Dominican Baseball Player, David Ortiz, which was a separate and personal incident. Due to the number of inquiries I feel compelled to assure you, and explain, that these are a few isolated problems that have not, and will not, affect Blackbeards in any way.

While we understand your concerns, we hope that you have not cancelled your current (or future) reservations due to the past issues that have been affecting tourism in the South Eastern part of the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana, specifically. We would like to assure all Pirates visiting us that these issues have not affected the area of the country where we are located - the Northwest part of the country in the province of Puerto Plata (which is on the opposite side of the country).

Furthermore, the issues that have been reported, pertain to certain All-Inclusive Resorts supposedly serving tainted alcohol in their Mini Bars, and/or have some other type of security issues (possibly including not properly vetting their employees).

Blackbeards is not a large All-Inclusive Resort that deals with large volumes of clients, but a small and Secure Resort of 22 rooms that in 16+ years has never had any safety or security concerns regarding our guests stay at our Resort. We would like to reassure all returning and future Pirates that we have 24 hour security at our hotel that provides a relaxing and peaceful environment for all of our guests.

You will not need to bring your own liquor, (we discourage that anyway) because we buy all our liquor and beverages from the largest distributors in the country, and they all come correctly sealed, or are replaced.

Rest assured, Blackbeards is fully committed to making your Vacation as safe and secure as it has always been. So…..if you have cancelled your reservation because of these issues, we would urge you to please reconsider your cancellation and re-book at your earliest convenience.

We look forward to hearing from you and treating you to a vacation unlike no other!! If you have any questions or concerns please call or email us.

“One Visit And You Will Be Hooked!!”

Even if they require a reservation for two nights at BB I would stick with your current plan.
Just head up to BB mid day Thursday and walk into the place.

There is almost no chance it will be completely booked and quite frankly they will be happy to see you.

Pay for one night or get a room there short time and do your thing than head to Sosua after that.

Your not in the country long enough to allocate more than one night to Black Beards

Plus Friday and Saturday will be the 2 busiest nights in Sosua so you will want to be there those nights. Plus Friday and Saturday the bars along the Pedro Clisante don't close until 3 am

Gracias, El Capitan

So they send out a mass email to everyone basically saying that guests are cancelling left and right and not to worry even though they are freaking out because they are losing business and occupancy is down

Than they follow that up with a specific email telling you that you have to stay 2 nights in order to reserve with them.

Than they send out another mass email saying they have raised the prices for the girls like 20%

One would think that unless they are fully booked which you pretty much can guarantee that they aren't that they would be happy to have whoever wants to come and stay with them

Maybe they have a new manager there.
