The television series "Havana Nights" will be filmed at various locations around the DR for the next eight months following an agreement between the Dominican and Canadian Ministries of Culture. Canadian actor Dean Hamilton met with Culture Minister Jose Rafael Lantigua in order to finalize details of the agreement and to explain the details of the projects. Currently Dean is in pre-production for "Havana" the feature film and is with the principal photography shot in 2007 in the Caribbean and Canada. "Havana Nights" the TV series is scheduled to begin production Fall 2007.
The DR is frequently used for scenes that would have been filmed in Cuba. Last year, Miami Vice, the movie, was shot in Santo Domingo. And in 1990, Robert Redford starred in "Havana" that was also filmed in Santo Domingo.
