Dominican Republic Storm Floods Kill 43

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic - Floods unleashed by torrential
rains killed at least 43 people in the Dominican Republic as rivers
rushed over their banks and hundreds of homes were damaged, an
official said Monday.



At least 40 people were killed in the western town of Jimani near the
Haitian border after a river flooded part of the town Sunday,
National Emergency Commission director Radhames Lora Salcedo told The
Associated Press.


No further details were immediately available.

Bell Vista in Santiago got fucked by Rio Yuque Del Norte.I was told it was wiped out in the 70's and people told not to rebuild there. After the dam was built they started putting up their shacks again. They were told to evacuate in the day and that night they opened the flood gates before the dam was breached.
