SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic - Floods unleashed by torrential
rains killed at least 43 people in the Dominican Republic as rivers
rushed over their banks and hundreds of homes were damaged, an
official said Monday.
At least 40 people were killed in the western town of Jimani near the
Haitian border after a river flooded part of the town Sunday,
National Emergency Commission director Radhames Lora Salcedo told The
Associated Press.
