A PASSPORT IS A PRIORITY
US citizens traveling to the Dominican Republic will not be allowed to return to the US without a passport. The State Department advises travelers to apply now. Getting a passport usually takes 6 - 8 weeks. An application for a passport and the rules can be found on the State Department's website:
www.travel.state.gov/passport/ (http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?t=uoozn4bab.0.mb4klzbab.xmq4hwn6.7267&ts=S0237&p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.travel.state.gov%2Fpassport%2F)
If you are coming to the Dominican Republic from a country other than the United States, we suggest that you contact the Dominican Embassy closest to you to clarify entry requirements. Visitors from most counties are allowed entry with a valid passport and a Tourist Card (purchased here at the airport).
You can contact the Domnican Embassies at this website (http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?t=uoozn4bab.0.k9ioz6bab.xmq4hwn6.7267&ts=S0237&p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.embassyworld.com%2Fembassy%2FDominican_Republic%2FDominican_Republic.html%2520). Don't miss the adventure of a lifetime. Get your passport now.
EL' CAPITAN LOWERS THE BOOM . . .
It is time to set the record straight, and communicate an important issue that has flared up (yet again) here at BB's, as well as the Dominican Republic North Coast. Typically, a group of several friends will either make reservations or show up unannounced to partake in the festivities we offer. They arrive carrying a small bag of clothing and numerous bags of booze, food, snacks and who knows what else. Then, they stage party central in their rooms and continuously break EVERY rule we have in place to make your stay enjoyable. Or, if they are just visiting, they try and bring in their own open container, take up bar, restaurant and playground space and make our regular guests feel uncomfortable.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH . . .
THEREFORE, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY . . .
If you fit this profile – take your business elsewhere. You are not welcome here and if you are our guest and you break these rules – you will be escorted from the property.
Outside “Booze and Food” Policy Change . . .
HOUSE RULES for OUTSIDE BOOZE and FOOD are as follows:

No guest will be allowed to bring in outside booze after they check in. (No more runs to Jenny's for a quart of this or a case of Presidente). “If you bring it in your bag – please keep it in your room.”
Outside food will not be ordered for you by our staff and any “meal on wheels” delivered here will be consumed in your rooms only. It's simple – treat BB's (and expect to be treated) like you would in any hotel in the real world. THANKS!!!
Non-Hotel Guests . . .
If you would like to join us for our Bikini contests, ticket price is $RD200 and that includes one drink (beer or local booze). The Jacuzzi, pool and Crow's Nest Sports Bar and Disco are for BB's hotel guests only .

ENOUGH SAID

Our Crow's Nest Bar (Bar Arriba) has set sail and we are having a blast on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights!! We offer dance nights, lingerie shows, DVD concert nights, and sporting events on the big screen.
Our Bamboo Bar and playground is our “Afternoon Delight” center. With fun activities like volleyball, bikini volleyball, wet t-shirt contests, and happy hour from 4-6 pm - What better way to while away a lazy afternoon?
Bikini Contest . . .
April 28th's weather was perfect. Hot and breezy and 15 of our companions strutted their stuff, hoola- hooped around the judges table and put on one of our best shows ever. After the contest, everyone headed upstairs to the Crow's Nest for dancing to salsa, disco and merengue.
Blind Leading the Blind? . . .
El' Capitan asked Capt. Tim how do know if a dog is blind? (Apparently Negrita has been sitting around, staring into space. When El Capitan walks by, Negrita acts like he isn't there). Capt. Tim's response to this question was simple, “Take a baseball bat and swing it at her head. If she ducks, she isn't blind.” Negrita was not available for comment.
Who Cares? . . .
We do! We ask all of our guests to complete a Customer Comment Form when they check out. We ask you to grade all of our departments, make comments and/or suggestions. Your opinion is important! Don't be shy – tell us what we do well and what we need to do improve on to make your vacation better.
Reservations . . .
Well mates, the crew here at BB's must be doing something right. Month after month, we continue to bust occupancy records and our navigators are scrambling to keep us on a straight course. We are filling up 2 months in advance and turning away twice as many reservations that want to sail with us. SO PLEASE . . .

Email us (info@blackbeardsadultresort.com) or call us first to find out what our availability is for the dates you desire.
Complete your reservation request via our website's “Rates and Reservation” (http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?t=uoozn4bab.0.6huil8n6.xmq4hwn6.7267&ts=S0237&p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blackbeardsadultresort.com%2Freservations.html) Icon.
Reconfirm your reservation prior to your arrival and provide us the information we request from you. SS Blackbeard Needs New Sails . . .
Everyone keeps asking, “OK, when are your room rates going up, we know it has to happen – so, WHEN?”
Effective June 1st , 2007 our room rates will increase and the new rates are listed below. The crew cornered El Capitan on the POOP deck and he said, “We have only raised the rates one time in 4 ˝ years, nothing is getting cheaper, so Fish or Cut Bait!!”

Well i only stayed at blackbreads one time and after all the screw ups i had i have never been back. It is bad enough that i had reserved my room 3 months before i got there. But then they said they did not have my resevation but they did have my resevation to pick me and my buddy up at the airport only tro tell us they have no single rooms but we can rent a double for 15 bucks more anight each.

We had lunches and drinks put on our bill that where not ours we where not even there sometimes when the charges where put on. They tried to charge us 35 dollars each for airport pickup even though we where picked up together.

I could never recomend this place even the girls where ugly and very hard core money grabers. But maybe it was just out luck as i have spoke to others that had great times there.

there has been alot of back and fourth over BB's...i have not been there yet, but will be attending there bikini contest in june. aside from everything else the fact remains that a recurring issue keeps popping up, that BB's may have the "fix" in beating people out of there money!!!

I can understand them not wanting you to order in food and eat in their restaurant or bring in beer and drink it in their bar area as they are selling the same or similar items and expect you to buy it from them.

If they are gouging people pricewise (not a little more expensive but 2x pricing) then people should just go someplace else.

I have heard numerous complaints of bill padding and even money missing from rooms. This is unacceptable behavior and they should be held accountable for it. I will NEVER stay at this resort for more than 1 night for the bill padding/money missing reasons. Id rather have all my stuff in another hotel and bring only what I can carry to this place.

I think its good for point and click people who cant communicate in spanish or are too lazy to go looking for chicas. If you have a basic understanding of spanish and can even basically communicate you will find a much more diverse assortment of chicas in other places.

Without having to worry if someone is robbing your safe while your at the pool or how much money you owe during checkout.

I have heard a few horror stories of guys having large bills when they checkout since they bill everything to your room. They think since your drinking you wont notice a few extra charges or wont remember. Shame on them!

Do u have to have everything charged to your room or can you pay for drinks/food as you order them?

You can pay as you go, which is what I recommend, this way you won't have a surprise when you check out.

I would suggest that you pay when you order something. Also, periodically check at the front desk for charges to your room.

I have stayed there 7 times in the past 12 months and have never (knock on wood) had any of the problems that I have heard mentioned. I reconfirm my room a week or two out, I check my room charges daily, and have never had anything taken from the room. The last time I was there I left about 6,000dr in my shorts that were to be cleaned and it was all returned to me.

As for the crack down it would never have needed to happen if people would be respectful of everyone and the rules. What and whom you have in your room should be private.

I have seen behavior at times that I thought was rude and not appropriate for the setting but it is not my place to judge others. 99% of the people I have met have been great....I will not miss the 1% of people that want to spoil it for others. Just my opinion.

I personaly think this is bullshit! If you want to buy food or booze for your room, who the fuck are they to stop you?? I would not stay here for this alone, you don't come to this kind of place to follow bullshit rules!! They will adjust this rule if it affects thier bottom line, but if enough people who don't care or don't know better, it'll keep them full, & obviosly they'll keep gouging thier clients. Hey if they can get away with it, it'll keep the big spenders out of Sosua!

Ok this is the second time I will respond to this.. I responded once before but I must have hit a wrong button and it was all for not. In any event...Here goes..

First, let me start by saying that Jimmy Dr, jayman and alot of the regulars that post here are my "idols" and if I ever have the privalage or the fortune of coinciding with them my views may change.

Let me begin by saying I am a relative "newbie" to the DR. This past March was only my second trip in the past 15 years to that marvolous country.

I stayed and really enjoyed myself at BB. I am fortunate because i speak fluent Spainish. the weather was lousy when i was there so my first couple of days i hung around there. THE FACT THAT I HAD TO ADJUST (Chicas all over you) ALSO INFLUENCED ME STAYING THERE THE FIRST FEW DAYS. After that I moved around. I had a great time. In Sosua, PP, Costambar and Cabarete.

In my case what really allowed me to have a great time was two things. First, that my home base was safe. Second, that no matter what I had a realatively nice stable of chicas to fall back on if I just felt like vegging.

Now I understand different strokes for different folks. But, come on, some of you guys are unmercifully bashing BB and I can't understand why. The place is great. It is safe, clean, and basically has everything you need. granted ,after 3 days max it gets old, but it is a great home base. Assuming you don't mind paying for transportation.

The booze stuff is a little misrepresented. Listen I had my own private bar in my room and no one said anything to me. I had Scotch, Rom, Vodka, for me. Liqour 43, Amaretto, Baileys for the Chicas. Food all kinds no one ever said anything to me. I did spend a fortune at the bar. But when people came to my room they drank from my stash. I did see management complain when guests would bring booze from thier rooms and drink it at the tables or at the bar. In my opinion that is wrong and I don't view it wrong for management to bring it to the individuals attention when they do that.

Now I enjoy the hunt more than the "kill". Just the fact that I have made the conquest in most cases is enough allthough I allways make the kill :-). I brought as many chicas from outside of BB than I got from the inside. Including from "the secluded in the middle of nowhere costambar". All it takes is to be freindly, approachable, and polite.

A little bit of information. When my brother and I went at the end of March. Our plan was to stay at BB the first 4 days and at Sosua the last 3 days. We ended up staying at BB the whole 7 days. only because we felt comfortable. Now we spent very little time ther but we knew our stuff was safe and we allways had a place to fall back on. Don't get me wrong we enjoyed every where we visted see above. However, we felt uncomfortable with the constant barrage of "hustlers" in most places we visited. we really enjoyed the peace and quite that BB and Costambar offered us.

So yes if you go with a group or if you are a regular then yes Sosua is the place to be. But if you go every once in a while or go solo, and don't mind paying for transportation, BB is the place to be.

That was back in March. The new rules just came out day before yesterday, stating that there will be no food or drink brought to the room after checkin. Presumably, the rules of engagement have changed.

I want to know how they can tell me what you can bring back to the privacy of my own room? I paid for it. It's my home during the time for which I have paid. No one tells me when, or what kind of food or drink I can bring into my home. It's that simple.

I suspect that, as long as due discretion is used, they won't try to micromanage what is in the rooms, or, probably, even the courtyard/pool area. They just don't want you sitting at the bar drinking your own liquor.

And, the minibar in the room has liquor anyway. How do they know whether you are drinking from the minibar, or if it is your own stash. Strictly enforcing that rule would be cutting off their own nose to spite their face. It would be good to hear what is the actual experience from people who go from now on, if there are any.

I've been to BB's 3 times and had a great time every time. No problems with bill padding, staff was friendly and accommodating. CHicas respected the set pricing and provided excellent service. I go to SOsua too every trip. THat's fun too, but I've had more unsatisfying experiences with chicas giving unsatisfactory service in Sosua. At BB's you have a mamsan that looks after customer satisfaction. THe chicas are accountable.

FOr my third trip, I'd have to say they improved. Better quality and quantity of chicas.

Lastly, the newsletter says : “If you bring it in your bag – please keep it in your room.”

Like a previous poster said, if you are discreet, no one will bother you. I can understand why they ask you to keep it in your room. I think the room is very well kept up, comfortable, clean and a good value for the money.

I don't feel like I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere, for a quick motoride I can catch a publico to Sosua, Cabarete or anywhere else that I want to go for just a few pesos. I come back to a nice room and good company when I feel like it.

I really enjoyed myself there, otherwise I wouldn't take the time to write this post. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks as always to the isoc brethren who share their knowledge. . Respect.

Taken from another site:

Two separate instances provoked this. I had a chance to talk to John afterward and he warned me this would be in the newsletter. Signs were up on their new policy before I left on this subject.

Actually the guys in question who were partying were a nice bunch, just a bit too open about what was going on. Bringing in cases of presidentes and drinking them on their porch set John off.

The second incident involved a local who almost came to fisticuffs with Tim over the bartender not pouring over generous shots. John went across the street to his house while this was happening and brought his pistol back with him. Things diffused quickly, but I think this incident pushed it over the edge. John felt like some of the locals are taking advantage of him too.

I feel his pain. NOT. In the past the owner of this board has been giving Black Beards mucho ad space gratis. Even going as far as providing a whole section devoted to the debauchery happening at their spa. Black Beards has always been concidered a retirement home on this site with the occasional bikini contest blowout going on. So as of 5/whatever this day is, as decided by this kangeroo court we hereby enforce these new rules:

1) Fuck You Jayman
2) You too El Drunko
3) Free ice for all Presidentes
4) Pringles for all
5) Brugal on me
6) Bring your own limes
7) Pizza deliverey on me
8) Just drinking and who gives a fuck

Soooooooooooooo, as per order of the owner of this site all post deemed as free advertisement for Black Beards will be moved and or cencered. Any person involved with the management of Black Beards can contact JDR for future endorsment or advertisement space on this site.
