Former "Sajayines" gang member Eddy Vladimir "Vla" Pujols has been sentenced to 30 years in jail, the maximum under Dominican law, for the murder of journalist Juan Andujar on 14 September 2004. Pujols must also pay RD$1.3 million in damages. Accomplice Ricardo Michael Bienvenido Agramonte received a five-year sentence and has been ordered to pay RD$300,000. A third accomplice's case, Jose Ricardo Munoz Herrera, was declared incompetent because he was 17 years old at the time of the crime, and therefore needs to be tried in a juvenile court.
