Just checked out their website ( http://www.hotelwaterfrontdr.com/eng/index1.html ) and they are less expensive than I thought. Might be a nice change form Europa/the Palace. Anyone been there or know and/or know if they are Chica-friendly?

I've never stayed at On the Waterfront but I've read in past that it isn't Chica friendly. I think that's the case with nearly all the hotels at the beach end of Batey. This seems to be partly because they are conventional tourist hotels looking to attract a lot of family bookings and partly a legacy of half-hearted attempts by the authorities to keep the prostitution trade a bit off the beaten track - hence the Palace, Europa, Passions, etc all being a little further up the road.

Also most of the conventional guidebooks I've read suggest that the hotel is nowhere near as good as the restaurant. That is the best I've eaten in in four trips to the DR but I think it is franchised, i.e. not run by the same management as the hotel.

I stayed there for 3-4 days.

They charge you an extra $5 if you bring a chica in.

No A.C., just a fan.

One full size bed, one twin in each room.

Safe rental available.

All depends on what one wants from their room.
