Hey guys,

I have a friend who is a taxi driver. He is a very nice and kind guy. His name is Toni. His cell # is 809-772-6551.

If he hooks you up with a ho, he will NOT get a commission. Do not worry.

You just pay him whatever you want. But that does NOT mean that you should give him 5 pesos for 9 hours of service. Just be reasonable.

Tell him that you were introduced by "CHEE NO" (Asian dude). He knows me well.

Take care.

If you spit, you will hit a hooker in the face. No need for anyone there to hook us up.

But if he is a reasonable, hassle-free driver....he could be an asset for those who use taxis. How much does he charge (how much did you give him) for just driving and waiting? That's the important question.

Hi there,

I use him in case of an emergency. For example, it's 3am and the casinos and streets were a miss. So I call him up and he takes me to some place.

But most of the time, I use the map and walk around.

For three hours, I gave him 500 pesos and a bottle of Pepsi. He introduced me to a girl at a massage parlor. I forgot the name of the place. It was a large residential place with large gates.

Behind those hotels are the public cars. They may be even cheaper. True 500 is not that much but over 7 days, it can add up.

I don't care how nice and helpful a taxi driver/tourist guide/hotel employee is-and there are many of them-9 1/2 out of 10 will get a commission. The commission is not paid directly by you, but by the establishment-be it nightclub, restaurant, bar, massage parlor, store or individual ho. This is all transparent to you-the user of the taxi services. It is the unwritten law in the DR as in most third world countries. The commission is paid when you are out of sight/sound-or the next day when the driver returns to the establishment or individual ho.
