The chicas ae stuck the fuck up.

Where are you hunting? There are some rich and powerful families in Santiago and depending on your looks, language skills, etc. many of them won't give you a second look.

Also realize women are hassled 24/7 in the DR, the only way they can respond is to ignore, even a negative response yields more male comments.

Wsj and i just left Santiago Saturday morning and returning today. We stayed at the Colonial. You have to hit the car washes and small bar/restaurants. I pulled a sweet chica at the restaurant around the corner from Colonial, called don meche or something like that. The way it was set up, you would never know those chicas were for the taking. Chicas at the monument can be had as well. You definitely have to look around. Nothing is centrally located like in Sosua. Takes a little work.

I hope everything with family goes ok with you. So here is my problem I am coming in May on that early Jetblue flight (4am arrival) Where do I get pesos and since I can't get my rental car is ready until 11am should I hit the cabana to hold my luggage and where should I go after if I want some action at that time. Again thanks for the previous info you gave me

I've withdrawn from there many times. Very safe and great rates. Smash, i know you don't like Hotel Colonial but that's where i would stay for the few hours until the rental opens. Can't beat it for $18.

I wouldn't call Colonial a dump. It's not as good as the cabanas I've seen, but I don't think it's a "dump".

And it's under $20 a night. Beas hates everything. He's just got alot of built up frustration right now. I think it may be time for a DR trip!! First cerveza is on me!!

There have been multiple posts requesting a reposting of the "Santiago Night Club/Car Wash Map" but all posts seem to have gone unanswered. I too would really like to get a copy of it. I am willing to pay a fee for it if necessary. I'm sure that Don Thomas went to a lot of work to create it in the first place, so it would be nice if it could be more readily available for downloading and printing and all the good work could be utilized by those of us with interests in the Santiago scene. Thanks!!

I got a copy of the map without any other info on it. It comes in 3 files and takes 15 pages to print. After printing it needs to be taped together. It is the most detailed map i have seen of Santiago. Took me an hour to piece together and a shit load of tape. Even with the map Santiago is a tough city to navigate.
The Colonial is basic and ok for a night or 2 if just passing through. In the past i have gotten a cabanna for 12 hours for 560 pesos. It was basic with no windows but i could come and go as i please. Just check with the different places and make a deal. Some places will negociate and others will not. Downfall about the cabanas are that they are about 6 miles from the center of the city. Platino cost about 1700 pesos for 2 and when you leave the room you have to shut off the air con because the card key is needed to start the air con. I found the rooms smelled of smoke and were small for the money.

I was going to start a new thread but thought I would tag on this one and ask a couple of questions. I have never been to Santiago....I have made 6 trips over the past 18 months all to Sosua. (part of the wolf-pack) AA has a RT flight from Chicago to STI (through Miami) for $208.00 plus tax and I booked a Sept and an Oct trip. I plan on spending most of my time in Sosua and heard of a bus for a few 200 peso's or a taxi for $80.00. That is quite a difference....is there something inbetween? Can you take the bus at 8pm? I fly into Santiago at 7:15pm and might spend one night in Santiago and take transportation to Sosua the next day. Recomendations of a clean cheap place in Santiago to spend the night?
Thanks!

Hotel Platino is safe, clean, and reasonably priced.
Get the bigger room, the basic room is the size of a broom closet
