Senate approves tax modifications

The Dominican Senate approved a first reading to the change to the tax code that will reduce the taxes on beer and cigarettes. The approval of the project, which came from the Executive Branch, came after just one review by the Chamber. The Senate also approved a fiscal amnesty law and a US$150 million loan to shore up the government's social projects. The tax modifications will reduce income taxes by 4% on net taxable income, and lower the taxes on beer and cigarettes.
