I've stayed at the Hotel Discovery 4 times. It a new hotel near the Conde and the prices range from $50-$72.The price includes tax.It is chica friendly and unless you stay in the suite they charge you $10 to bring in a chica. There's a good restaurant on the ground floor and internet in the lobby and in your room if you have a laptop. On the roof there are about 10 tables and chairs with an umbrella and also a small pool.
The suites are great. They have a small kitchen area with a microwave.I think I have some pics of the suites.

How far is this from the Jarragua?

Drjetman
06-26-2007, 08:46 PM
It's within a stones throw from the Conde if you've ever been there.I would say distance wise it's about 1 1/2-2 miles.A cab to the Jaragua is 150-200 pesos. On the way back don't take a cab outside the Jaragua.Walk down the Malecon a little bit and you'll see cabs parked on the street. These are much cheaper.

I've stayed in about 7 or 8 different hotels in Santo Domingo and this is by far the best for everything you get and location. You can't go wrong there.

WoW !! This looks like a nice place to explore Santo Domingo at a reasonable price. Do you know if they accept USD at the hotel and if so, do you need to put down a deposit before going there? Also, do you have any pictures taken from the roof? I'm hoping that the Malecon is nearby. How many rooms do they have? :ilike: :ilike:

Drjetman

They do take US Dollars. There is no deposit required and you can send them an email for reservations.I don't have any pics from the roof but it's a great view. You can see the Park De Independencia, the beginning of the Conde and the ocean. The Malecon is a 10 minute walk down hill.
Here are some pictures of the Conde where there are hundreds of girls(working and non-working) who walk through there everyday and night.
The pictures of the restaurant with tables and chairs is Paco's which is a good place to watch girls and pick them up as well. The benched in the park pic is at the other end of the Conde where you can meet girls as well. There's a good restaurant next to them which is the ground floor of the Penabla Hotel.
The other pics are of the American Airline Office where you can extend your trip because you're having so much fun and La Cafeteria which has great espresso and Cappachino.
Conde girls have great tits. Here's one!

Hey guys

I stayed one night at Hotel Discovery.

I paid $35 USD (tax is included) for a very small room (I do not mind since I come here only to sleep).

Pro's

Right next to El Conde
Chicas all over the hotel
A very cool security guy (I forgot his name. But he is tall, very short hair, and very fat). He used to work as a security guard at the Napolitano Hotel.
Con's

A very small swimming pool
The parking lot gate is always closed (inconvenient for one to park)
A big thanks to Drjetman for informing this place to me!!! :iconTU:

You park at the gate. But you need to ring the bell for someone to open the gate for you. I rang the bell several times but in vain. So I had to walk to the front desk and ask the guy to open the gate for me.

I saw a lot of freelancers. But most of them were not my type. So I passed.

Elizabeth and Lillian frequent El Conde. I posted pics and phone numbers for both of them under the Santo Domingo/Chica section.

Hey Jimmy, what's up?

You and the crew must visit a chica-casa called "GBP". "GBP" means gymnasym.

I will post directions of this place later tonight.

Anyway, if you enter the place, it is a bar and a workout center (treadmill etc.) The owner is very discreet.

Its 1,000 pesos for a full-body massage (with lotion or baby oil) and sex. There is no time limit. You can take your time. But the fun must be conducted in their place.

Any updates on the chica friendliness of this place?Very chica friendly but you must pay a $10 guest fee if booked as a single.

Although the last 2 times i've stayed here, i booked as a single early evening and the night watchman had no idea whether i paid the fee or not.

I was there this past Saturday.

I stayed in one of the suites earlier this month. Small but comfortable - the manager is a prick but the staff was excellent. Had a problem with the shower handle which caused sudden cold bursts and couldn't get anyone to fix it for the 3 days I was there. Also be advised if you're driving the garage closes at midnight and i had to bribe security every night to get in around 2 or 3 a.m.
Pix are of outside balcony at night and inside balcony just outside the room (good wi-fi)

Yep, I gotta agree wit ya here...I tried DISCOVERY for one night back in March (to use as a secondary hotel) and the CUNT at the front desk was almost enough to make me wanna leave.....noisy as fuck location too, HOWEVER, the restaurant food was good, the prices better than they should be and a very "target rich environment" on the west end of Conde....

All that being said, on the rare occasion that I want to be the "bigg dogg", I'm in the Senior Suite at Palacio.....the rest of the time, my dogg house is Hotel Mercure......(anybody stayed at Hodelpa? Help me out)

Hey fellows what's up? Just wanted to shout out to some of the frequent milers and their wing partners on this board about two hotels a buddy of mine told me about. Have any of you heard of the Villa Italia on Avenida Independencia or Royal Palace hotels on avenida Abraham Lincoln before? If so, what was your experiences like with them?

Thanks,

would you say hotel discovery is a good target place to be for the first timer in SD? it seems pretty central to get a good lay of land in SD without getting to "lost in translation"

Hey Hempstead

Yes, Hotel Discovery is a good hotel for a first-timer in Santo Domingo.

Just avoid the "Economy room". It is so small that I felt like I was in a prison cell. lol

The Raizor Hotel is another hotel that I recommend for first-timers.

Hello Dewon

I have never stayed at either hotel.

Royal Palace
I would sometimes pass by the Royal Palace while driving. But this hotel seems a bit away from all the action in the Malecon. From this hotel to the Jaragua Hotel, I think it would be around a 20-minute walk by foot.

I do not like the location of this hotel.

Villa Italia
This hotel is around a five to ten-minute walk from the Hilton Hotel.
This hotel is near a college campus and is located right across the street from a major bus stop where tons of college girls wait for the bus.

Compared to the Royal Palace, the Villa Italia is a better location.

Just to make sure - listen to Cheeno - AVOID "Economy room". It is trully horrible even with one chic you have to climb over shit to get to the bathroom, bringing 2 is out of the question.

Hotel Discovery suites are nice with a little kitchen with fridge and microwave, a tiny sitting area with love seat and good internet on the patio outside your door. I paid $85 for two people last time in August.
I still prefer the Palacio, especially with the pool and giant jacuzzi.

Yeah i usually get the $50 mid-range room at Hotel Discovery and pay the $10 chica fee.

Sometimes i stay at Hotel Mecure when the $40-$50 internet special is available (breakfast included).

I used to stay at Palacio but i'm not paying anymore than $50-$60 for a any room in DR.

I stayed there for 11 days in January. $38 is the price plus tax. I would never use the restaurant, ate there once and it was terrible. I had problems with the AC and they came up in a short while and fixed it.
Remeber it is a budget priced hotel and is good for the price.
