Accidents: leading cause of deaths

Automobile accidents have become the principal cause of deaths among Dominicans, according to statistics by the National Police Road Safety office. According to statistics, more than 2,000 Dominicans die each year as a result of road accidents, followed by homicides and suicides. The main cause of these accidents is speeding, lack of respect for traffic rules and alcohol consumption.
