Hey guys

"Champions" is a bar and restaurant inside the Jaragua Hotel. Its right next to the Jaragua Casino.

There are a lot of TVs showing all types of sports (e.g. A Red Sox game, a Yankees game, college basketball, NFL games, etc.)

A nice place to order a drink and chill. They have western food such as steak, burgers, fries, etc.

Is the Jarague owned by Marriott? This sounds like the same Champions that they have at just about all of their Marriott hotels.....same menu, etc. I guess if you are really jonsing for American food or to watch sports (I assume they try to put at least some U.S. sports on their TVs), it's a place to go. But when I visit another country, I usually prefer to eat "native" food. That said, I would be curious to try the Dominican version of the typical Champions fare - cheeseburgers, chicken wings, etc.

I forgot to mention this.

For those who love to drink (THE_JAYMAN!!! ;) ), this is a nice place to hang out. I usually come here for a cocktail.

I do not know if the Jaragua is owned by the Marriott.

The food here is very good. I've tried burgers, fries, cocktails, a chocolate cheese cake, a strawberry shake, etc. All were very good.

It's part of the Marriott Rennaissance chain. You get Marriott rewards for staying there - and can use your points for room stays there, like any other Marriott.

And to reiterate a tip that's been mentioned before. When you check in, give a girl's name as your girlfriend who'll be checking in later and you can bring girls back to your room. Also if you stay in the garden section, there's no one guarding during the day and the night guard just has a list with your name and whether you registered with a "guest"...

The jaragua is a renasaince hotel which is part of the marriott family of hotels. Champions is a brand that marriott bought several years back from a sports bar in san antonio. The original owner from san antonio acts as consultant for aquiring the memorabilia you find on the walls.

The food is ok, not great, but as cheeno said a cool place for a drink and they have karaoke some nights and a pool table as well.
