Theft at AILA

The Corruption Prevention Department (DEPRECO) is investigating the theft of RD$1.6 million and US$4,800 from a safe at the Immigration Department at the International Airport of the Americas (AILA). Two AILA officers are the main suspects. Initial reports reveal that neither the door to office where the safe was kept nor its lock had been forced opened. The money was part of the collections at the airport for the day.
