Dominican open water swimmer Marcos Diaz has received permission from the US Coast Guard to complete his latest challenge. Diaz is training to swim across the Hudson River in New York City in August. Marcos Diaz's technical director Augusto Garcia says that the challenge of crossing the Hudson will have an impact on the Dominican community in New York, which is home to more than one million Dominicans and one of the reasons why Diaz chose this particular site. Skeptics say that Diaz will not be able to complete the crossing in 12 hours. Diaz will head to New York at the end of this week to complete his training for the swim.
