interested in finding decent hotels in Santiago complete with a/c, color tv, decent bed/mattress generally clean and quiet

and must have a nice swimming pool.

figure 3+ stars or better

can be a family type place. it'll be for a weekend. i'll probably have wheels so it doesn't have to be centrally located.

Thanks

There is the casino and then there is the Marriott. Just two places with a pool.

I stayed at the marriot a few times and posted some pics that have the room and the pool in a previous thread trip report, I used comp points the times i stayed there but,
I believe their rates are $ 129.00 night US or so for a regular room, they have restaurant, pool, internet and i had no problem discreetly bringing in girls...

jimmydr.... i've read your past trip report about the marriot. isn't the rate like USD$100+ per day? any noise from air traffic?

"The Casino" .... do you mean Hotel Matum near the monument? i hung ouy there one night this past june. i think they advertise something like USD$75. per...... but didn't know the had a pool! they did have 2 different discos to dance at. only you better have long pants on saturday night or you're not getting in!

sure a basic room at the hotel platino, but it does not have a pool, but it's a great hotel.
the Grand Alamirante is about 259.00 night, so the marriott is definatly a moderate hotel for santiago with ameneties, it's just out of your price range

Santiago Mariott has weekend specials but not in the $70 and under range. Most of the good hotels in STI have american pricing because that is who stays there. I have had a tour of the Mariott in STI and it is worth the price. They also offer a discount for US government personal, PD and FD. The dude i brought over there was a NYFD and he got close to $30 off. But that was back in March.

UPDATE: Just checked and it seems they no longer like US Government employees. No discount. Fuck them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
