Paternales in La Unión on a large scale
The party in La Unión will last all week. The baseball field has once again been transformed into a traditional fairground, just like those back in the 1950s, with candy floss, merry-go-rounds, whirligigs, and a try-your-strength machine. Of course there are also plenty of beer and rum stalls selling drinks are pre-war prices. Various artists will perform live every evening, e.g. hip-hop, dance groups and reggaeton artists.
This full week of partying will be closed on Sunday evening with a performance by the merengue band El Jeffrey (although this may be changed to another merengue band). If you want to join in the festivities, you'd better get down to La Unión before Sunday evening.
