Three Catholic bishops have voiced their agreement with the statement issued by Cardinal Lopez Rodriguez concerning the high salaries of some government officials. The bishops said that they were insulted by the announcement that certain government officials were being paid salaries of a million pesos per month or more when most of the country is living in poverty. The Bishop of San Francisco de Macoris, Jesus Maria De Jesus Moya, was joined by the Bishops of San Pedro de Macoris and Bani, Francisco Ozoria and Freddy Breton in his statements. Breton called the situation an "indignant inequality" and an insult to all the people who are scratching out a living.
