Hotel Mercure

I stayed at hotel Mercure in Santo Domingo on my last trip. I liked the hotel and the location is great, right on El Conde (corner of El Conde and Hostos) in Zona Colonial.

I booked through the Internet and they offered an Internet special of $45 + tax per night (standard room with 1 double bed) for one person including breakfast. The hotel is guest friendly. The hotel has a restaurant and bar.

It's funny but the $45 internet special has been posted here many times over. And there are plenty of ISOC that stay here. But you and i seem to be the only one's who take advantage of the special rates.

Mercure is a good hit. I always stay there on my shorter trips.

Having breakfast downstairs while watching the DR delights strut by on their way to work really sets the tone for the day....

Hotel staff was filling my cooler with ice for me when they serviced my room on my last trip. (I always ice down a 12-Pack of Presidentes and a bottle of Brugal)....yes, the rooms are small but they are CLEAN!

Once they realized I was hitting my "regular" (same girl) they let me "register" her, made a copy of her ID, and quit the annoying CEDULA CHECK everytime we walked in and out.

It's amazing what a couple of buck$ to the staff will get you.
