After months of renovations, the monument is now gorgeous at night. Couldn't believe what a beautiful job the government did on this. Contrary to their usual sop.

Are there still huge rats running around there? Also Cheeno did you see a guy offering "walking" tours?

Hey David Smash

The place is very clean which caught me by surprise.

And I did not see a single idiot offering me a "walking tour".

When I walked in the monument, a lady in a Red-colored tourism uniform asked me if I wanted a tour of the place.

She said that she can tour me up to the second floor of the monument. She said that if it rains, they would not conduct the tour.

There were also guards inside the place.

It was starting to rain and I had to head back to the Metro bus station so I just left.

I remember going to the Monument in 2006. I kept thinking "What a shame this place is a dump." I can see from the pics, they really cleaned it up. I wish it looked like this when I was there. I would have stayed and enjoyed the view longer. Thank Cheeno!!

Yes, I agree. It seems really cleaned up. But I wonder if they still let teenagers to gather around on Sunday evenings/nights and have a massive get toegther, with mobile discos and party til late !

I remember it was fantastic for chica watching, but they don't even look at us mongers twice, they haven't been quite baptised by the local boys yet !? Once they showed them the ropes and finished with them (and knocked them up) they get passed on to us....
