Bringing a newbie for the 1st week of my 2 week stay and booked the New Garden for the week because he is a drunk and i can pin the business card to his shirt to get the moto to get him home from the casino.
But was quoted $50 per night inc. safe key and breakfast.
If anyone has had the breakfast there sould i just feed it to the strays or is ir actually half decent with a few beers.
Feedback please. Thanks Boston Jim

Thanks Dave, coming from someone who will be your size in a few years i am happy.
Is it a buffet or cooked to order. And how much more for the chica?

Im not a big fan of the NG breakfast. I have had it about 10 times and only twice I liked it. The American was what I had and I believe its listed on the menu at 195RD. For slightly more you can walk to the Waterfront and get a FAR superior breakfast. Lou from the Shark Bar turned me onto the Waterfront for breakfast and I rate it the closest to a true US style breakfast I have found so far. It comes out fast too!
I guess the NG is taking on the price schedule of Casa Cayena as a little extra in the price and add a breakfast to it to try and add more to their restaurant business.
Hey if the breakfast is included use it as a starting off meal for the day and maybe get an early lunch if you cant finish the breakfast.

Its cooked/smoothered in oil to order, fuck, I'm thinking 120-140p, I was'nt offered the package, & I paid $134 for 3 nights so close to the same, but you should see if he'll give you the deal minus breakfast, so you have the option to go where u want, or see if he'll include a chica breakfast? also I get up late, and they won't serve breakfast late 11-12.

Fuck, me and Lou do not have to order at the Waterfront. She just brings our shit. The Breakfast thing is i guess a compitition with the other place.
If the food sucks then he will need to clean the pool very well daily.
Guess i better go to the Playero and buy some butter. Cooking my breakfast in oil is a dead issue.

maybe the fact that they are always overbooked made them look at their prices and see how much they could go up and still be almost full. I cant blame them if I ran the hotel and was always overbooked I would probably try to see about raising rates too.

I was quoted the 55 a night as well. However, I responded back and inquired about the rate without breakfast. Wilifried responded with "I'll tell you when you get here."
I believe I paid about 45 a night in April with a 2.00 safe fee a night without breakfast. I didn't mention that I was a member of ISOC.

I agree Waterfront is the best breakfast I have found in Sosua. It costs almost $1-$2 more avg per person but it comes out fast and its the best quality compared to what I am used to in the states.
Your also overlooking the ocean while your eating breakfast.

Take a right as you walk out the entrance of the NG, and go straight. It's located on the right side at the dead end. Maybe a quarter of a mile from the entrance.

yep take a right when you leave NG and walk right to the ocean. youll see the place on your right at the very end of the street.
one thing they did nag a friend of mine about is you need to wear a shirt inside the place to eat. a shirt, pants(or shorts), and some type of footwear are required for dining!
its got a dress code!

OK, update on the NG and breakfast.
Was there for a week last month. Each day breakfast got a little better. It definately needs to be tweeked so Wilfried will look at all suggestions. I usually tried to get up early and eat around 8am and go back to business with the chica. Had everything locked up and if i did not know the chica i shook her down before she left at 10. The only thing i ever found pocketed was condoms. Then i would hit the WaterFront at 11 to meet up with the crew for a late breakfast. This way i was good till super and full to start drinking.
As for the new prices. ISOC gets the $50 rate when mentioned in the email before you go. It includes the lock box key ( usually $2.50 a day ) and the breakfast ( $5 ). As time goes on the breakfast should get better. Service was good and quick and the coffee strong.
At $50 the New Garden is still a good deal even if you do not eat the breakfast. Great location with a good management.

I stayed there in October and I was very pleased. The accomodations are not fancy by any stretch of the imagination but the location and attentive staff was top notch.
After, I had settled my bill for the week and was preparing to leave I received a call from a chica with whom I never got around to doing. She wanted to see me. I could not pass up a freebie. I asked Wilfried if I could use the room a little longer. He delayed the girls cleaning the room until after my visit when he could have easily said I need to get the room ready for my next guest. Customer service!
I even wrote an email to Wilfried after leaving because I feel that if one can complain about bad service you should be equally quick to tell someone they did a good job.

I ate it every morning. Loved the fresh fruit and the scrambled eggs were cooked the way i like them. Well done with catsup. And much better coffee than Rockys. Lastest this fat shit until the later breakfast with the crew down the street.

It is too far down the road at the bottom of a hill, even tho u r right on the bay. I ate there one morning and did not see or taste anything special. The breakfasts at the NG have improoved, just ask for ham instead of the fatty bacon.

The Waterfront rooms have no tv or aircon. The aircon i live without this time of year but definately need a tv. The chicas will not be able to watch novellas or cartoons inbetween fuck sessions.
Jimbo, the view alone is worth the price of the breakfast. Also good suggestion about the ham. The bacon seems to be very fatty all over the island.
And since they know me from eating there i just walk thru and use their stairs for the beach instead of going down the path from the parking lot.

And if u are daring, like me, u can walk right on thru the restaurant onto the grounds of the Casa Marina, watch out for the guard to your left... and enjoy the buffets, pools, etc for the day. Helps if u have a colored wrist ban, as they give out different ones for different guests.

Rockys is a cool cheaper option. But has no pool and the rooms are very small. If you can book a room at the New Garden for your 1st trip i highly suggest it. There is usually always an ISOC member around.
Rocky's is great (I AM BIASED :D) but as guttaman said there is no pool. for me the room size is fine, some rooms have 2 beds so they are certainly adequate but are more basic than the NG.
hard to bead the location and the atmosphere though. the staff and the owner as well as the customer base make it an excellent place to be.
also, not all the rooms have a/c...i believe there is only 1 room, and they do charge a small premium for it if you ask for that room. i think it's an extra $5 a day. still the best bargain $4$ in Sosua IMO.
i've stayed there many times and always hang out there.
i'm good friends with the owner and have made many friends and contacts there over the years.

This time of year at night I sleep comfortably in the DR without AC on. As for a pool I generally don't use it and prefer the ocean but if the need arises theres always LaPassion for a good pool also. This makes Rockys a good cheap choice this time of year. In the summer you DEFINITELY want AC.

Listen, New Garden is the shit! Period.... If All hotels were like New Garden, I wouldn't have started staying in Villas a few years back.
I stayed at New Garden from Dec 31st to Jan 6th, and it was great! It was great for the following reasons:
1. No drama from Security at all!
2. Everyone kind of minds their own business, if you choose to interact with others fine, if not, fine...
3. You can bring non-pros by and it doesn't feel like a whorehouse
4. Wilfried is real cool...When i arrived and he was cruising Jimbo's trip report while supposedly 'working' in his office, I knew he'd be cool
5. New Garden delivers what it promises, no more, no less... Rooms are cleaned every day, and are presented nicely, no shortage of clean towels...
6. Most importantly--no drama, or haggling from staff....
Conclusion:
Great hotel, great location, will definitely recommend to others moving forward

Hi all, new member here and I just got back from my first trip to DR/Sosua. I stayed the entire week at NG in one of the new jacuzzi rooms. I had a blast staying there, the staff were accommodating and friendly. Wilfried was a very good host, the room was perfect and the food was great (especially the fish and pasta dishes). When I go back (which I will soon!), I will definitely stay at NG again!!

They are absolutely beautiful, some with Jacuzzis in the bathroom, and others with just a regular bathroom. I think they are all complete now, the ones we saw certainly were. Definitely thinking about booking for next year, he had a guy on the fon trying to book for the spring while I was in his office, but said it was too early, and he stressed by EMAIL ONLY.
The jacuzzi rooms are definitely sweet and only like $10 more per night as I recall. you can probably get 2 chicas in them if you try.:D

No , I thought he said $79 for the Jacuzzi room. I have to dig out his business card. Not sure if I wrote the prices down, but I recall him saying its just $10 more fore the Jacuzzi room. So that would be $69 for the regular rooms.no.
I was never there before so what were the prices before the new addition?

Wilfried,
Last yr October you gave me a rate of 50US/day. Now after sending an email from your office I get a response from Lorenzo for 70US for the end of September. Is the increase because of the new extenstion?

Wilfried,
Is there any chance that ISOC members can be given a more competitive rate considering the emergence of the Sea Breeze Hotel? I'd hate to see a stalwart such as The New Garden begin to lose some of it's patronage (ISOC members) as a result of not realizing our value. Your answer will definitely help me make my final decision.

Sounds to me like someone has some stock in the New Garden. Are you disputing the fact that competition affords options? Isn't it nice to have options as opposed to being limited?

Hi Craigmac,
you know the ISOC rate for the 20 standard rooms is still US$ 50.00,
including breakfast, that's the deal,
i think, you can understand, that we can't rent the new wing for the same rate,
the differnce between a standard room and a new room is US$ 12.00,
if you think that a new room with all it's convienience does'nt worth it ??
a lot of members, they like the rooms very well.

I just spent last Saturday through Wednesday at the NG in the new wing (room 30). It is quiet, tv and ac works great, the shower fits 2  and i was far enough away from the pool that some of the louder regulars (yeah, I'm talking about you!) didn't disturb me. I felt the price was well worth it (including the discounted cab) even though 1/2 the time I wasn't up in time for breakfast. Unless i plan on coming down with a crew and renting a villa, I wouldn't stay anyplace else. But, that's just me and I'm still fairly new.

The Sea Breeze has A LOT more than 20 rooms!! I don't know the exact number but there were like 4 or 5 buildings with 3 floors each.

For what it is worth, I was talking with Jihad, the owner of Seabreeze, when I was there about 10 days ago and he advised me that they were pretty much booked up for Oct, Nov and Dec. He was sending his overbooks (large groups) to Playa ?, the place on the right hand side of the highway just the other side of Charamico heading toward Puerto Plata.
I have been reading the forum for the last month; here are some newb questions about the NG.
Do the rooms in the new wing have balconies and/or patio? Are all the Jacuzzi rooms on the first floor in the new addition?
Is the new addition 3 story?
Do all the rooms in the original building have balconies and/or patio?
What are the quietest rooms? Which rooms have the best views?
Wilfried has rooms available in the new wing for my dates, I am curious as to what rooms others would choose.
Booking my trip on Wednesday and I will be there for a week.
Thanks

The new building has 4 floors-- the first floor don't have balconies and you enter from poolside. The old building is the same way in this.
The 4th floor "penthouse" room had a jacuzzi so I think they are spread throughout the new building actually.
I imagine farthest from the pool is quietist but I bring ear plugs so I don't really care. I never had any noise issues at all there and I was on the first floor closest to the pool in the new building.

I am staying at new garden right now. I have at room in the new addition with a king bed. Room is plain but nice. Large safe. WIFI works well. My only complaint it is very noisy as the balconies face the street and you here every motochono, horns , stereos, and cars!!!
Breakfast ends at 1100 and I sleep in until then so I have not tried it. Maybe someone else can tell you about Seabreeze hotel. I checked out Casa Valera next door and plan to stay there next trip.

Just finished 5 days there (after 5 days at BB's). I liked every thing about this very central place for it can't be any better at this price. My room gave on the baseball field and was quiet. All the chicas hanging there behave well and are not after you, begging for booze. Breakfasts are...well breakfasts. Even had one hell of a BBBJ half an hour before checkout this morning.
I can't compare but with Casa Cayena where I was last year and the overall room quality goes hands down to NG. Wilfried was very helpful in every aspect (as all employees).
Just moved to The Palms, and a more laid back experience, for the next 11 days... One never knows though ! ;)

Hello there gentlemen...
Newbie here trying to get my 2nd trip to DR to be more memorable than the first (went 4yrs ago to Boca Chica with a jealous girlfriend that was dominican :banghead:...long story)..anyway...from all the great reviews of New Garden I am sold...ready to book but I just wanted to clear up a few things so I can ask Wilfried for the right room.
I have searched through just about all the threads and their website but I dont not see anything about the double occupancy rooms...I mean I am cool with the wingman I am going with but I refuse to share a bed...I may be naive and have overlooked something but is there rooms with double beds and/or suite like rooms at NG...and I have seen a few people here talk about a penthouse...whats the info on that...set up and price wise (only cause there maybe 3 others going with us) and lastly are there balconies in most of the rooms except for the 1st flr in the New Wing or the old?
Your help would be appreciated...

The New Garden is a great place to stay. I have only stayed there once but there are guys on the board who stay there every trip! I stayed in the new wing in a jacuzzi suite. As far as I know, all the rooms in the new wing have only one bed, I am not sure about the original wing? Regardless, I would NOT share a room with a wing man! The rooms are cheap enough that you don't have to cut costs by doing that. PLUS, I need some privacy especially when I am doing the deed. There is NO penthouse suite at the New Garden, there is one at Blackbeard's.
Personally, I would just get 4 rooms at the New Garden and have fun!! There are other options such as multiple bedroom villas, condos, apartments, and even houses if you all want to be together. Do a search on the board as there is a bunch of info on the board about these, also you can look on dr1.com...they have a section for these types of rentals.
Hope this helps...Leave the chica at home and have fun!! :)

All the rooms have balconies (so if you cant hear the roosters across the street crowing in the morning, you can step out to hear them better) and all the 1st floor rooms have a small area of your own outside the sliding glass doors. I had a room in the new wing last time with 2 double beds in it but i cant remember the #.

I was checking out the less talked about hotel links and reading up on some places like Don Antonios, The Orchidee, and the Romanoff to name a few. Last time, I stayed at the New Gardens new wing and it was cool but, does anyone think it's worth double the price of these other places? I didn't have any real complaints although I was a little thrown off by the pool side chicas the first couple of days. Again, I'm just seeking recommendations from people who have stayed at multiple hotels before I make a final decision.
Thanks!

I have not stayed at any of these but I read a lot of posts in different places and I personally think even though I never met him that Yayow saying he sayed at Don Antonios makes it worth looking at since the guy lived in Sosua and chose this place and even though maybe he drives like me that should be a very important recommendation. The other two I only have hear say so I will shut up and let someone comment that has been there. Personally I would like to point out that Dominican Billy's offer to all members that book directly with him at Field of Dreams for $29 including tax and all is a hell of a deal. I have never met him and no I am not getting paid to say so but I will be trying it as well as NG. FOD is out by Playa Dorada but I drive and if not it is on bus line and cheap for cabs since they all want to go back to Playa Dorada for a easy fare without sitting around.

I think there's some kind of "Penthouse Suite" type of room on the 4th floor of the new section. I saw it once and I remember it being fairly large and had a jacuzzi in the bathroom. A friend was staying in it. Wilfried can clarify.

NJ you're right,
at the 4th floor we have two rooms, a bigger one with a jacuzzi and a king size bed #41
and #42 a normal room with two beds full.
it's not like a real suite, they have a separate entrance,

I just checked out of the NG. Wilfred is the best. If you like hot and cold running water for the price NG is worth every penny. The staff is the best and rooms even in the old section are very good. I would stay here again and plan to be back in Feb if rooms are avail. For money It is the deal. Chicas all like it. Free secured parking breakfast included. Only a short walk to all the clubs. What else can you ask for. I did notice Wilfred keeps the place pretty full so does require a little planning in advance. ISOC is here and good to put faces with the posts. Conversation and experiences are shared so if you have never been to Sosua makes the learning curve very small and safe. My laptop was just fine in the room with or without me.

I recently stayed at New Gardens (10 - 11 Nov 09). Stayed in Room 42. I liked the place and intend to stay ther on my next trip in Feb 2010. Although it was my first stay there, I like its convenient location to my regular Sosua haunts.
The room was clean and comfortable. I thought the $69.00 room rate was well worth it. The bathroom was spacious and the shower actually had a shower with some water pressure with hot water for more that 5 minutes. I also like the fact that I had access to the Wifi from my room.

Just reserved rooms at the New Garden today for my group of 8 guys from December 11-15th. We have been going regularly (every 6-8 weeks) to Sosua for the past few years, mostly staying at Casa Cayena.
While that place is perfectly fine, it felt like it was time to try someplace new - I hope that the New Garden will fit the bill.

Not sure if anyone posted this but I was just informed that the rooms in the old section of the NG now have electronic safes in them. Even more reason for me to stay there again and get the 50 member special with breakfast which was good. I was not feeling the key safes at all in the DR. If that key is stolen or a chica gets a hold of it that can mess up your trip. With the safes with the codes, no worries.

Just got back from the NG 2 days ago. i had wanted a room on the new side ground level but i took the early flight and my rom wasnt going to be available til 2:00 pm. Didnt want to wait so wilfried showed me the first room in the ground level on the old side that had been redone with some upgrades. King size Bed, digital safe. Only thing he said that hadn't been redone but was planned was to put a vanity in the bathroom instead of just a plain sink. Problem with the vanities is that all the rooms are always booked so he hasnt had a chance to call people in to do them. For my purposes, the room suited me just fine. and at the ISOC rate.. cant beat it. The digital safe is great and the king size bed was nice too.

NG is a very chica friendly hotel but the chicas don't work there. There are always 4-6 chicas just hanging around the pool/bar area but they are all freelance. NG is only a 5 minute walk from all the action so it is not necessary to grab any of the chicas that hang at NG unless one catches your fancy.
There are usually many members hanging around so just introduce yourself around and make new friends. Your spanish will be a plus for you.
Have fun and report back.

For a first timer is sosua NG is where you want to be. As far as finding the action - there is a very good thread about where everything "important" is located in relation to the NG hotel with pictures, maps, distances and even shots from a plane with areas circled... I would find this post and read it as it will put your mind at ease about the choice you made.
There is only one gate in or out of the NG hotel. Girls come in and out during the day all the time and hang around the pool. When you go out the gate there are always girls walking around the streets.. Make a left and walk down the street - the first intersection you come to you will see a lot on your trip (el-flow is on the corner). If it is night there will be hundreds of people out on this street and lots and lots of girls - turn left at this intersection and in a minute or two you will be at classicos disco. If it is daylight you can keep on walking for a couple more minutes and hit the beach.
Back at El-flow where you turned left - turn right instead and walk for about five-seven minutes and you will hit passions... Or you can get a ride for 50 pesos on a motorcycle (you will be asked several times if you want a ride so just choose to say yes if you want to go to passions - hop on the back and hand over 50 pesos when you arrive 30 seconds later).

Hi Tiger,

5 minutes from NG is:
Rocky's, El Flow, Rumba, Lou's Shark bar, Seacreats, Classicos, Club 59, Bar Central, Merengue bar, Latino's, Happy bar, Los Flores, the casino and many more bars and restaurants and quick massage/BJ places. Also 100's of chicas walking around.
10 minutes:
Passions, Cuba Libre, Coyote Bar, Four Roses and many more that I don't even know the names of. Also the beach with dozens of great eating and drinking places. Also 100's of chicas walking around.
There are many more places that you will find. Have a great time!
You are staying at the right hotel.

The talent pool at NG shouldn't be the deciding point in your trip making. Just a few yards from the pool is the NG gate. Go out of said gate. Look left and or right. You will likely see chicas equal to or better than the chicas currently in the pool. No joke!

If some guys feel that mongering isn't what we all make it out to be, maybe they should stay home and get married. Mongering is not for everyone.

Most of the reason for the comments is probably that the girls around the new garden are considered bottom of the barrel, and if you read a bit here it is a well known fact. they try to snatch up the newbies before they get an actually feel for the place. venturing out the gates is a better bet for sure as most will agree. good luck and have fun.

New security measures at the Garden including a state of the art camera system watching and recording all parts of the building, new dead bolt locks on the apt doors and metal gates in the new wing over the bathroom windows.

Sir, I represent that remark.:rofl::rofl:
My 'newbie' trip to Sosua, last October, was, shall we say, "enhanced" by the girls hanging out at the New Garden ... most notably by the Santiago Sisters   :o but by a couple others as well. (IIRC, didn't I post that under "How To Strike Out In Sosua"? Or was that on 'the other board'?)
I haven't settled on dates yet, but it's evident that I'm going to have to take "remedial training" on-site in Sosua to make up for my erring ways.

I find that every trip is a learning experience. I read for a couple of months. Go down for a couple of weeks. and repeat. I found that after a trip the little bits of advise between trips are a lot more informative (new bar - Plan B, one club diminishing - El Flow, new places to eat).
Another question, how do the New Garden chicas come about. Do they just wander in and have a seat? Are there any screening to keep out the Drama Queens or Druggies? I've mostly heard good things about them. They may not be steller but they sound consistent. maybe next trip I'll try one. I was to busy last trip learning the new places.

Can anyone explain why the New Garden on their web page has higher rates for 2 and 3 people in the room and then at the bottom says , " no extra charge for guests"?

Ask Wilfred!! :dontknow: My days of NG are done, as I have finally came to the conclusion that the 25.00 a night efficiency and 35.00 a night 1 bedrooms in the condos are a better bet. I can still go hang at NG if need be, and to be honest with you my last 2 trips, it was pretty dead at NG as far as guys I like to roll with.

I think they just wander in. Jenny tells them what the rules are and they sit down. I think they turn in their cedulas.
There was one thick dark skin one I wanted to get with, then I got wifed up. She had a nice shape on her. I will be hitting that next trip when I come down. She seemed sweet enough.

Stayed at new garden 4 weeks, left end of april/11.
My stay at hotel was great, staff were wonderfull.
There are two different rates, one for older section & one for new portion.
New garden in my opinion is still the safest & has the best location for mongers staying up to a month.

What was your Monthly Rate? At $55 a night for the old section rooms I hope on your second post you didn't just admit to paying 55x30=
You can stay at nice places like the Palms Condos for half that amount along with some other places. Please tell us you paid less than a Thousand???

Not sure what policy you mean but I was there twice since February and the price was the same with the isoc discount both times in the old wing around $55 if I remember correctly.
I didn't take a survey monkey, but all the guests staying there was there for mongering.

Well stayed in room # 37 and noticed new garden has made some improvements. 1st is a 32 inch flat screen TV. 2nd is new shower stall and shower floors. The new shower stalls are more square and are bigger than the round ones. The shower floors are now stone which is an improvement to the other floors that they had that always seen to fill up with water.
