I agree, I want to see all those Chicas in Heat over one of these bachateros. Not to mention I enjoy the music.

The bad part is they only give a week or two notice for the concerts down there so it's not even like you can make any plans. Plus the airline tickets would be outrageous on short notice.

ONe of these trips I'll just catch one by accident...

Actually I may be in Punta Cana on the 26th. Still planning out xmas and new years. I assume sosua is mostly dead between xmas and new years? I am toying with heading up to do the rocky's champagne and gift caravan. Sounds like like a great time and a worthy cause!

Not sure if ErikS will be in town then. If he is, could we have a collection among ISOC members to buy the tight-ass an admission ticket?

I have seen Zac twice in the last month and a half in and around NYC....he is the best!

A great singer.......who sounds even better in person.

Well worth the effort to see him live...I would think that the tickets will be around 300 pesos or so.....a lot less than seeing him here.

I meant to say Citynights, sorry Prtyr2. To me out of Bachata, menengue, salsa, and cumbia (Colombian), I still say the bachata is the sexiest form of dancing. Who esle is in town, your there Weyland??

That's what ErikS thought. When they tried to charge him 600 he stormed off complaining about "gringo prices". But Ajax and I had already been through that at an Anthony Santos concert. We thought that 700 was only to us so we waited a while and watched what the locals were paying: 700 as well.

If Stratton hadn't quibbled over 300 pesos we might have charmed him off the Texas Goosestep for the rest of his life!

No, I shall be in the U.K. sitting on the steps of the Divorce Court, waiting for it to open up again after the holidays, so I am first in line to be liberated.

Things are changing....all the concerts down there used to be a few hundred pesos. Still worth it to me if I was there.

700 is around 21 US dollars, which in my opinion is a bit steep for the Car Wash. I will attempt to sneak in, and if I can not, fuck it I will pay, because I luv the bachata movement and rhythm. Hopefully I will meet a hot not a puta chica and wine and dine her later or the next day. I will let y'all know.... stay tuned...

Sneak in for $21????? SNEAK into the Sosua Car Wash????? Did you actually say sneak in??? How embarrassing is that if you get caught? Come on Jimbo......Go check WU.....I will send you down the $$$.

Why bother to be away when you worry about spending 21 frickin dollars????? I am sure the tranny cost more than that.

Steep for the Car Wash? The Car Wash is not singing...Zac is!

I have snuck into MSG more than once for concerts, where the tic was for well over 100 dollars, there are many other venues I do this with, no I am not revealing how. And the only reason I even think about it is because of the thought that they may be doubling the price for gringos.
Oh... and for the record, the tranny was only 500 pesos, since u had to bring it up. I notice it is suddenly a hot topic on this board....

OK, so sneaking in is in your blood too. Hey, I am not the one who started these tranny threads, talk to them...once again, at least I was man enough to admit it, and when i did, i did it face to face with a dozen guys around. No shame in my game dude!!

And the drinks are really expensive too. I think a small Benedicta was RD$150, small Presidente about RD$120. Take plenty of small bills because you have nil chance of getting change back from a mesero/a for a $500 or $1000. They are passing out drinks non-stop.

I didn't see too many younger girls unescorted, maybe priced out, but there were quite a few pairs or groups of older (35-45) middle-class dominicanas without guys.

I can do one in her 30's no problema, even early 40's if she is hot. I will definetly show up on my moto concho that afternoon and check out the scene! Counting down the days.....

That's another problem, especially at the Sosúa Carwash (or "Karrrrwa" as the locals pronounce it, with the emphasis on the first syllable). It is shaped like a long narrow shoebox so if you don't arrive early (around 9.00pm) you have nil chance of getting a good view without handing out a propina (which would obviously need to increase the later you arrive, as the best places will already be taken).

The show typically starts around midnight although advertised for 9.00pm. So after three hours you will have spent a lot on booze and will be ready for an eardrum refit. Again, the sound system at Sosúa Karrrrwa was diabolical when I went with the Thunderstars. Deafeningly loud is standard everywhere but this was distorting and echoing on top.

Mi culpa, mi culpa! Es un falta de mi. :o

You were right, I should have stayed with you guys and paid the cover charge for the concert. I did think they were trying to rip us off, but was proved wrong.
Next time I’ll pay the cover for both (or 4) of us.

On the plus side, I did stroll over to the casino after I left the CarWash and ended up with Carolina (formerly of Passions) that night. :D

They are loud. Even when they just have a DJ playing, I can usually hear them while sitting poolside at the Palms Condos....and that's about a kilometer away!

Aside from Zacharias Ferreira on Dec.26, it is posted on dr1.com that Antony Santos will be in POP on Dec.29 and Frank Reyes will be at Rancho Azucar on Dec.30. If this is correct, it will be quite the week of bachata in the POP/Sosua area !!!!
