Best damn shrimp on the planet.

And the ambiance of eating on the beach, the stars in the sky, the lights in the Palm trees, a cool breeze blowing from off-shore, a couple of guys walking around playing music with just a twist of salsa . . . a beautiful chica’s (20 or so years your junior) hand in yours.

around 9 or 10 the fireworks go off (literally fireworks on the beach)

in the words of the Governator Arnold . . .

do it . . . DO IT NOW !

If you like a little active lifestyle stuff, like surfing or kitesurfing during the day.. Cabarete rocks.. if you want to hang out on the beach go more to Sosua.. not dissing anyone but that's just my opinion..

With both places being 10 minutes apart you can go to both places everyday.

Three of us took a taxi to Cabarete to go to Casita de Alfredo. Food was good. The beach is beautiful. Don't plan on finding chicas, but it makes a great place to get out of SoSEWER for a while.
Lunch was about 700 peso for the three of us. The taxi each way was 250 Peso.( and that was after some major fighting.) Peter said it should have been about 200 Pesos. I must have the map of the USA on my face.

It was a relaxing afternoon spending time between fucks.

All the great restaurants are only a 7 minute ride from Hotel Aventura.

beach chairs cost 100 peso on Cab. beach... at least thats what i was quoted my last time there... I pay 40 pesos in SoSewer beach... Jose Oshea's food is very good and even though i spent about $15 for a good lunch i wouldnt mind spending it here and i was on vacation so who cares!...sometimes you will do anything for good meat when you are in the DR for a while... next time i try Casitas

I remember when a meal was $10 here and it was the BEST!!!!We atr here 2-3 times a trip. Now a meal is $35. It is well worth it, to say you were there once.

Jose O'Sheas is a tourist ripoff joint.
You won't see locals or expats in there; too damn expensive.
The owner doesn't make any qualms about it, he's looking for tourists that don't mind paying premium prices for normal quality food.
Check your bills carefully, padding checks is the norm..

Casitas is the place to go for shrimp. They are excellent there. But like Jimmy says, they have gotten expensive. :(

In November, Casitas was closed (they close alot), so we went to O'Shea's because I did have decent shrimp there once. This time however, it was a complete ripoff. I got about 4 small shrimp on top of linguini, and it was some ridiculous price. I'm sure Casitas not being open added to that.

over to Cabarete, Casita de Papi, on the beach. Excelent prawns. Don't take your chica here.

2000 was when I started staying in Caberete. We use to eat here a few times because back then, it was $7.50 for the big pan.

What are the prices like these days??

I was there in 2007 with my wingman and it was $30 a person with a pepsi.

I think now closer to $900 pesos for the single person pan. That's the smaller one in my pic. Then don't forget to add the 26% added taxes.

So its 1,134 for the smaller one which is about $29.

sounds about right. I can't remember the exact price on the menu anymore. I am sure I will go back though and will take note.

Sounds like the pizza slices and Pepsi for $2.50 in Manhattan is a better deal! :iconTU:
