I asked the question in the early days......
so I'll help you out
A car wash is a Bar that people hang at, they have outdoor stalls so you can wash your car.
They have plenty of chicas hanging out there. They have a bunch in santiago.

Car washes in the Dominican Republic are traditionally also social centres for locals for dancing and drinking, often with light meals also. I suppose this came about because they have to be big, open access buildings and the country is too poor to afford many dedicated public buildings like dance halls or community centres. Obviously a lot of car washes are needed because of the state of the roads so even the smallest town would have one whereas it might not be large enough to support a commercial dance spot.

They are not designed to sell sex so I think you cannot salida out the staff in most of them (experienced guys please help me out on this!) but obviously, as local young people gather there, they are possible pick up places and working girls might hang there if there are no better local options.

But a few are well known enough to act as pick-up places for gringos and non-locals like Kelvin's in Santiago. You can see from their sign that they suggest sex is on offer.

Some let you salida out the chicas that wait on tables. The Sosua Car Wash used to be a 300RD salida (about $9).

Car washes are awesome!

You don't need a car just walk in or take a moto conch!

Cheap booze and lots of chicas.

to me its just another place to pick up a freelancer or bar girl...no more no less. i have never been to the one in sosua but pass by it all the time!!! there wasnt much going on there last week. pretty dead and closed one night! but then again, it rained all last week sooooooo.

i hear the ones in Santiago are great though!!!

i dont endorse a rookie going to santiago, unless you know what your doing and you have a good handle on spanish for the record.

The old car wash in Cabarete was a combined Car wash and Whore house. They had rooms on the premises.

Last June I was at a Car Wash in Sosua. One of the bar girls was pretty hot. She offered my friend some action somewhere onsite or close by (didn't really understand) she was only interested in a quickie, and a Dominican guy was insisting that they go to a place "in the back". . . but the asking price was way high. We were just a small group of gringos in a bar full of locals and something about the situation didn't seem comfortable, so my friend didn't pursue it.

Bottom line, we did have a good time drinking, listening to music, dancing with the bar girls, etc. I would probably go back and try it again for a change of pace. . .

Most of the other local girls where there with guys already, so it didn't seem like a good spot that night to meet local girls.

Also saw a couple getting it on in a car off to the side. Don't know if that is a routine p4p activity or just locals doing what they do.

Yep, open during the day, how else can you tell if your car is clean?

The going rate is what ever you negotiate. If you see a girl you like....ask her what she wants, then tell her you have half of what she says, and slowly work your way up to something you are comfortable with.

Thanks to all for the great info on car washes. I'm going to be staying in Sosua, but I'm thinking of making a trip to Santiago for some one day action. How long is the trip from Sosua to Santiago? I'm also considering flying into Santiago (STI) which is about $200 cheaper than flying into Puerto Plata.

Peace

Are you driving or taking the bus? Taxi is about 70 to 80usd, although Ive gotten it as low as 60. Caribe Tours bus is about $8.

I highly reccomend the bus. Always chicas on the bus for chatting with, or just for eye candy. And you get to see the scenery during the trip.

I think the bus trip is about 2 1/2 hours.

On the highway, actually there are two!
I am not sure if both are currently open.
Make a right @ The Samba Bar across from Plaza Domino, go to the highway and MAX Car wash is right there, the other is about a 1/2 mile on the left hand side towards Cabarete. Once in a while they have a Tipico concert.

You need to go to STI or SDQ for chica action in a carwah', try Kelvin's or Gomez Diaz in STI.

Both are open for business..

A few words to the wise though

Car MAX is an outfit that will process the car for you... you hand over your keys and they do the work. Intra-washing you get a coffee at a normal bar, where there are no puta's. It's where all the respectable Dominicans have their cars washed.

Sosua Car Wash is at the end of the build-up alongside the road towards Cabarete (left-hand when coming from Sosua). This venue serves both as a normal car wash during the day (with some girls on the premises) and as a disco and concert location many a night. I've been to a few concerts there (with DT and Gdogg amongst others) and you can see a lot of eye-candy there. Mostly the girls will be accompanied by either their gringo of the moment (a lot of hos go there) or with their significant others (you will notice the difference).

This is the car wash at the end of Cabarete, oposite of Jardin Deportivo area.

PSR, I was actually planning to go to this very same concert... but the car-wash is really small, run down and has a bad reputation. Security ain't always tight if you know what I mean.

So we arrived, I couldn't park the car anywhere save, the area consisted of a run down open air venue, shut-off with plastic building sheets. Lost of bad vibes... so we didn't enter and just rolled back to the crib for some lovin with the missus...

Later that week we went to Anthony Santos in concert at Rancho Tipico in Peurto Plata... a great show and a much more classy ambiente...

If you are coming from Sosua, it is past "downtown" Cabarete on the right hand side of the mainroad (DR Highway #5).
