Dominican baseball player Miguel Tejada could be in a lot of trouble. The star infielder, who recently signed with the Houston Astros and is helping the Aguilas in their quest for another Winter League Championship, has emphatically denied reports that he used performance-enhancing drugs. Listin Diario quotes Tejada as saying "I'm clean." But the troubles don't end there. The infielder was named in the Mitchell Report, a detailed account of steroid use in MLB, as having received performance-enhancing drugs and could now face perjury charges for lying to Congress in 2005 when questioned on the subject. Tejada, who is also dealing with the recent loss of his brother Freddy, has maintained his innocence and added that he has always played the game without using drugs. Tejada underwent questioning by a special Congressional committee in 2005 after his then teammate with the Baltimore Orioles, Rafael Palmeiro, tested positive for steroid use. Diario Libre is reporting, citing the NY Times as its source, that Tejada could face up to five years in prison if found guilty.
