I've been checking economy car rates for a May 16-21, 2006 trip.

And for my five days, Europcar is $128 (after taxes), and all others are $160 (after taxes) or more.

Yeah, I know, it's only $32.... but have any ISOC members done biz with Europcar at STI? If so, was it a good or bad experience?

Been told Europcar is hit or miss. $128 is good for 5 days. Just be prepared to change a few flats.

Do not go by that $128 quoted to you on travel sites. There will be extra added on. I would go with a name brand.

Yeah I argee if there is a problem with the car (and from what I read in the posts there will be) with a name brand they have all the help you will need should something happen from flat to car accidents

I rented a car there last year.It was so so.I only had it a couple of days.I had to bring it back to have some electrical work done and the brakes were poor.
You will need to use a credit card that covers the cost of the extra insurance to avoid their insurance charges.
I had better luck with thrifty. They have cars at the airport and in the city.

I used Eurocar in February. Rented an economy car for 9 days. I received a quote on line for about $289. The total cost at the end, with all the extra fees, came out to be $400. Be aware of all the extra fees. The car was great though

You guys are amazing. I posted the same question on a non-monger BIGGER board (DeeROneDOTcom... figure it out) and go nearly nothing back. Thanks for the help. Think I'll go with Alamo.

Think I'll go with Alamo.Alamo is your best bang for the buck because they are reliable and have the least taxes/extra's of them all........Book on expedia or any other name site and the rate including taxes are exactly what's quoted. I use them so much that i'm on a first name basis with the staff at Santiago and Pop. My rate this month is $26 for an economy. In the summer, it goes down to $22!
