Representatives from the United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) are visiting the Dominican Republic to look at security arrangements at Las Americas International Airport, the leading airport in Santo Domingo, and second in traffic volume after Punta Cana International. The TSA team will also study the operations of the commercial airlines that use the airport, as well as checking whether the AILA administration has carried out the recommendations that the TSA made last August. The inspectors will be examining key parts of the airport, like the cargo area, the area where a lot of vehicular traffic takes place, and the customs area, which is felt to be a major danger zone.
