Al Gore, the Nobel Prize winner and recipient of an Oscar for "An Inconvenient Truth", the film he made on global warming, got the cold shoulder after his people told the organizers of the XVI Environmental Ministers Forum for Latin America and the Caribbean that his fee for speaking at the forum would be US$250,000. The organizers told Diario Libre that this sort of fee overstretched their budget and they had withdrawn their request for Gore to speak. The former Vice-President would have arrived in the morning and left the following morning. The ministers will be meeting in Santo Domingo at the end of January.
